Cheater’s Regret (Curious Liaisons #2) was a great read by Rachel Van Dyken. Austin Roger’s dreams of being able to watch Netflix and eating hot dogs with the love of her life one day. Unfortunately her dream man just cheated on her and dumped her. She decides to get revenge on him. Thatch Holloway knows that he ruined the best thing that ever happened to him when he cheated on Austin. She wants closure but needs to write a human interest piece for her MBA and gets Thatch involved. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.
So funny. Austin and Avery are a dangerous combination, but so damn funny. At first I didn’t like their little revenge plot against Thatch because despite how petty I am and love to exact my own revenge I don’t do it when I’m scorned. But damn if I didn’t want to give these women their props for the bit of torture they exacted on the poor man.
I actually had to give it up for Thatch because even though he broke up with Austin, it was clear he still had a lot of feelings for Austin. I liked how he made her feel beautiful, feel like a woman, and never made her feel bad about her penchant for sweet snacks and how curvy her body was. He loved her just the way she was. There is clearly more to his reasons for breaking up Austin and how his childhood really scarred him.
My only issue with this book was that while Thatch and Austin previously dated before this book takes place. I feel like I didn’t to truly grasp and feel how deeply they both felt for each other. I get that they wanted the other back I wish I got to see them getting back together a little slower and spending more time together other than the time spent at his job.
Cheater’s Regret was enjoyable. I can’t deny that. It was funny and cute. I kinda wish I could have gotten more of their relationship. Definitely like Thatch and Austin.
This is the second book and I recommend you read Lucas and Avery’s book first. Austin Rogers is the daughter of the Mayor and working on her MBA and stressed to the max but nothing is worse than when the love of her life cheats on her with her best friend’s sister. Thatch Holloway is a plastic surgeon and loves Austin and wants nothing more than to have her move in and spend the rest of his life with her but his life is imploding with his father moving in across the hall and keeping secrets about his parents and hers. Now when Austin needs to set up a blog for one of her classes she uses Thatch and his practice as the basis for it and getting close is just what they need to bring them close again. Will they be able to survive all the secrets even when they find out there is a bun in the oven? So. so good and so fun to listen to!
Rating: 3.5/5.0
Genre:
Romance + Contemporary + New Adult
This is the second book in the Curious Liaisons series. This is the story of the secondary characters from the first book, Thatch and Austin. In the first book, we get a glimpse of their relationship and the cheating that happens but here it is more in detail. Austin wants to know why Thatch cheated on her and she will not let go until she finds some answers. Of course, there will be a lot of mice and cat games between the two adding lots of humor to the story.
I feel this book unlike the first one is more about second chances. As the main characters’ relationship falls apart but then things will work out eventually. Thatch is a cocky guy who works as a plastic surgeon, it was fun to read his point of view. I did not like Austin’s part as much as the male character, but she was OK. Sometimes I just wanted her to go ahead with her life instead!
Overall I enjoyed Cheater’s Regret but not as much as the first book because the characters in the first book were both hilarious and the circumstances were a lot funnier. I feel this book can be read as a standalone too without missing much but you sure don’t want to miss the better and more funnier story which is the first book. I’m going with 3.5 out of 5.0

Get ready for the electrifying second part in this exciting and sexy series.
After a normal and harmless One-Night-Stand turns into a (quite casual) relationship it comes as it has to …
Thatch, the ultra-hot plastic surgeon cheats on Austin and even though she is willing to forgive him he breaks up with her.
What sounds like a very sad ending of a relationship is indeed just the beginning in this case.
Austin’s desperation in the beginning quickly turns into the overwhelming need of revenge, which by the way couldn’t be described in a better way, but unfortunately for her ends in the realization that Thatch seems to be the only person who might be able to help her not failing at school. Just awesome.
But what about Thatch? There must be something going on. What is he trying to hide and why is he justifying his actions, which of course hurt Austin big time, with the statement that this is only for her best?
Could it be that in the end it is not as it seems?
The plot thickens, but Rachel wouldn’t be Rachel if she wouldn’t take us on another exciting ride during which you get to experience all the feelings and chills.
Just like the first part you are going to cry so hard, laugh so hard and feel the need to strangle someone. Not to mention all the hot and sexy time we get.
Another 5 stars for this genius sequel.
I really enjoyed this romcom. Not everything is as it seems.. I loved the banter between Thatch and Austin as well as their chemistry, hot!! I went back and forth between reading and listening and really liked the narration as well.
Rachel Van Dyken has done it once again. Cheater’s Regret has instantly made my list of favourite books read this year.
Austin and Thatch had the absolute perfect chemistry and relationship. Yes, they definitely had their issues (many of them), however, that made for an even more enjoyable read. It made their relationship real and believable. To top it off, their problems allowed for so many memorable moments.
My biggest mistake in our relationship wasn’t falling for Thatch; it was thinking that he needed me as much as I needed him.
I constantly found myself laughing at some of Austin and Tatchs’ crazy schemes and revenge plots for each other. Add in the sexual innuendos and you definitely have a laugh out loud novel!
To top everything off, the sexy moments filled with tension and passion were so heart stopping. These scenes truly showed that each character did have real feelings for one another.
So, like an idiot, I kissed him again—and sealed my fate against his mouth, knowing that his track record proved he was a cheater and that I didn’t have any part of him—even though he still held every part of me.
I cannot say enough good things about this novel. I urge you to go and purchase it for yourself today to see why I am raving about it so much. Rachel is definitely an auto-buy, must read author.
5/5 Stars!
Thatch sometimes has to make himself clear on his thoughts, “damn it, Austin.” I placed the clipboard on the table and wanted to follow after it with my head. “Listen when I say, there is absolutely nothing I would change about your body, not now, not ever.” Thatch is such a caring man, “poor baby,” Thatch said gently. “You’re the only person I know who would actually punch someone in the face and walk away with more injuries.” I enjoyed this book, I loved Thatch.
Austin Rogers thought things in her personal life couldn’t be more perfect, then in one fell swoop she lost it all, she never expected to find her boyfriend locking lips with another woman, but she did, and now she is certain the only thing that will ease the pain is to get even!! She knows getting revenge isn’t the most mature avenue to take, but it is the level she has stooped to, and in the end she will have the closure she needs to move on and let him go. So her plot to exact revenge ensues, unfortunately for her Thatch decides to retaliate with a little revenge of his own… and now letting him go just got a whole lot harder!!
Thatch Holloway has it all, well almost it all, he has the good looks, good job, but he is missing the love of a good woman… and he has no one to blame but himself. He had her, then things in their relationship got a little too close to permanent, and he got this bright idea to cheat, in hopes of that it would help her decide it was time to move on. He knew the moment it happened it was the wrong approach to his situation, but he just didn’t have the heart to break it off with her, and thought this way would be better… but he couldn’t have been more wrong! Now not only is he dealing with a broken heart of his own, but he is also dealing with her trying to exact revenge on him… and it is working perfectly! He attempts to retaliate but it doesn’t quite go as planned, because instead of saying goodbye once and for all, he wants to fix what he broke… problem is she wants nothing to do with him!!
The moment I cracked the cover on this one, these two pulled me into their world and had me hooked, and left me anxious to see if they would find their way back to one another. Their antics had me laughing, smiling, and swooning the whole way through… they were quite the pair! Overall this was a very entertaining read, it had the makings of a perfect romance story, and it was unlike anything I have read yet!! The characters were well crafted, had great chemistry, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I spent with them!! Highly recommend this one, it is sure to check off all your romance reading must haves, and leave you with a happy heart!!
I just finished the audible version of the book! Highly recommend listening to it… great narrators!!
Don’t really like cheaters because I have been cheated on, however I loved the characters in this book and the way they intereacted.
