I had it all. Two beautiful children. A gainfully employed husband. A successful food blog. The only thing missing from my life was . . . heat. And I wanted to live. To live loudly and without fear.I also wanted my husband to think I was as hot as I was when we were high school sweethearts. More, I wanted what my sister had: love, passion, and a husband whose love was infinite.Because something was … infinite.
Because something was happening with Rob. Had he fallen out of love with me? Had he found someone else? Was I not—
Sigh.
Was I not enough?

An amazing story that will leave you stunned and satisfied! It had mystery, romance, laughs and twists galore. She threw all these different elements in a blender, added a splash of her humor and snark, and left you with a delicious and refreshing take on everyday love and romance. Cheers to an extraordinary sequel in an amazing series. If you want romance with a dash of everyday moments, sass, and hot, loyal, supportive alpha males, this is a must read!
Wow!!! What a story!! This was my first story by this author and I gotta say, why didn’t I read her sooner?! I won’t post spoilers but Melissa is a heroine that I respect and for what she has to put up with was reminiscent of what I had to deal with. I will most definitely be reading more by this author
For Melissa life is great; she has two fantastic kids, a loyal dog and a wonderful husband. Life takes an unexpected turn when she finds a hidden cell phone with messages addressed to her husband Rob , is Rob cheating on her? What will Melissa do, is her marriage worth fighting for?
HARR is one of Elise’s best work yet, this moving and touching tale brings on all the feels. Complex characters that you will love, and some appearance from our favourite DARR characters. With the perfect mix of romance, drama and mystery you will not be able to put this book down!
Heartbreak at Roosevelt Ranch is a wonderful tale of a marriage hitting a rough patch, and the two leads finding their way back. I haven’t read the first installment of this series, but after reading this one, I fully intend on going back and reading it.
Melissa (Miss) is a happily married mother of two awesome kids, with an awesome husband who happens to be a detective. She runs a successful food blog, has a sweet, recently married sister, and her life is pretty great. At least, it is until lately her husband has been pulling away from her and the kids, and she starts getting the feeling he’s cheating on her. She’s seen some texts on a phone, not HIS phone – the normal one she knows the number to, but one he hides under his mattress, that are from a woman who asks when he’s coming to the hotel. Yeah…and then there’s the bright red lipstick stain on his collar. And the hickey she spied on him. All pretty bold evidence of cheating. But, she doesn’t say anything about it, until she does. She snaps. And I was cheering her on because really, her husband Rob was being a giant bag of dicks to her. Pulling away. Being short with her. Telling her not to go to New York to an audition for a cooking show. Sure he was happy with her cooking when it benefited him, but not when it might mean it would take her away from him. But did he really want her with him? He sure as hell didn’t act like it.
Thankfully things all worked out in the end, but not before a lot of crazy things happened, things I surely didn’t expect. I kinda felt a little under the water upon reading some of the things that happened, things that must have been back storied in the first story; but it wasn’t too bad, I could mostly figure out that Miss had a bad childhood and she had gone without, like seriously without to the point of starving, so that she could feed and take care of her younger sister (the subject in the first story), and it was all thanks to their worthless excuse of a mother. So I would have appreciated just a tiny bit more exposition and detail on Miss and Kelly’s childhood so that it would go a long to explaining some of the motivations behind what happened to Miss and Rob in this story. Aside from that, though, and that I thought Rob handled everything in a really shitty, wimpy way, I really liked Heartbreak at Roosevelt Ranch. It’s well-paced and features some great characters, especially Melissa. She’s the true star of this story and I wish there were more coming about her, perhaps an extended epilogue or even another book about her new chapter in life.
Absolutely loved the suspense that came with this book. Great twist and just when you thought you knew….bam!! Great story and awesome ride. Go read it!
Another fabulous tale in Darlington. The hots keep coming, all the way up to the last chapter, and there’s a couple of twists you’ll never see coming until they’ve already snuck up on you.
Melissa and Rob’s story is even more of a time-stealer than Kelly and Justin’s! Brace yourself for one heck of a ride. And prepare to read it all in one go, because once you get into HARR, there’s no putting it down or otherwise turning back.
Melissa is good at compartmentalization, expresses all of her feelings through food. Finding the perfect recipe, pulling together just the right meal, getting in a successful blog post around the constant duties of a stay-at-home Mom with rambunctious kids, an exuberant pup, and an increasingly absentee detective husband.
Rob is invested in his work. It’s what he lives and breathes for, keeping Darlington safe, making the world a better place for his family. But this case is different, his partner suggesting increasingly risky plans, and him unable to contact or explain to his wife nearly enough.
Melissa thinks Rob might be seeing someone else. Rob doesn’t understand why his wife is icing him out. And the stakes just keep getting higher. With the case, at home, with Melissa’s adventures in cooking beyond their home. Everything seems to be conspiring to pull the long-time couple irrevocably apart.
What will be the last straw? And will Rob and Melissa fall apart or back together again. Check it out! And don’t miss the first interconnected stand-alone in the series: Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch, featuring Melissa’s sister Kelly.
Kelly and Melissa had horrid parents. Their father walked out when they were young and their mother was not a good person, so Melissa believed it was her job to take care of Kelly and herself. Kelly got her HEA in the last book (Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch) and is living it now. Struggling to keep food in their bellies, Melissa has become a foodie with a very popular blog. Culinary school had been Melissa’s dream, but she gave it up to put her husband, Rob, the love of her life, her salvation when she was growing up, through the police academy. Now a stay at home mom, with two children, Rob has become distant with a case and there is evidence that he is having an affair. At the same time Melissa is offered to do a cooking show. But nothing is as it appears. I wanted to smack Rob upside his head and shake Melissa. As is often the case in this genre, not talking to each other causes a lot of the conflicts. But lots of intrigue and danger with Rob’s case.
The characters are well developed and the plot delightfully twisted. I received a free, ARC of this book from publisher from Netgalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Heartbreak at Roosevelt Ranch is the second book in the Roosevelt Ranch series, and this time we get to know more about Miss (Melissa), Kelly’s sister. She is married to Rob who had recently had a promotion at work, but the cost of this appears to be their marriage.
I was a bit worried about this book before I started it. Call me sappy but I hate to read stories about a marriage gone wrong although I don’t mind if they’re already divorced or separated. Consider it one of my quirks! Instead, what I found was a story that had me invested from the very beginning. Yes, Miss and Rob’s marriage was in danger. Yes, they BOTH had work to do to put it right. And yes, Rob did make some stupid decision’s to do with his career. NEITHER of them was blameless, and it took both of them to see it and to try to work it through.
Celeste was the other woman and all I saw was a woman trying waaaay too hard. Every moment that Rob was thinking about her, he was comparing her to Miss, and Miss always came out first. Rob is married, that doesn’t mean he stops seeing other women around him, or can appreciate their qualities. So long as he doesn’t touch and doesn’t wander, I don’t see the problem. I can’t remember who said it, but “I can look at the menu, honey. I just don’t order anything anymore!”
There are some questions left after reading this, questions that Miss also has, so you never know, they may be answered in future books. I’m sure Miss and Rob will play a part in those, just like Justin and Kelly played a part in this one.
The pacing was smooth and the writing intricate enough to keep my interest. The characters build up from the previous book, and I loved the internal thoughts of both Miss and Rob. This was a great addition to the series, and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Audio Review
This is a great listen. There is love, heartbreak, real life issues we all deal with when we have kids, dogs, and marriage. There is also lots of surprises and mysteries and danger lurking. I also loved that the main character, Missy loves to cook and uses it for her therapy. Rob and Missy have lots to work through and this book tells their story well.
Kiera Stephens did an amazing job narrating this book. The emotions she poured into this audio was spot on and I loved listening from beginning to end.
I highly recommend this book. I loved it! Definitely 5 stars for me.
