Did she fall or was she pushed? Where is her oxygen apparatus? How could she tolerate the smarmy biographer? Did she really have a granddaughter?
These are some of the questions Shandra and her fiance, detective Ryan work to find answers for when the wealthy aunt of the local ME dies in a fall on the stairs in her home. Excellent sleuthing helped along by visions of Shandra’s shamanic grandmother. A terrific read!
The audio is read by Ann M Thompson.
Mrs. Jager has done it again with a very well written book. This book can be enjoyed as a stand-alone mystery or part of the series. The characters are well developed with complex personalities. Shandra Higheagle is a wonderful protagonist. From book 1 to now book 8 Shandra has overcome a lot of from her past baggage. Her relationship with Detective Ryan Greer has also matured over the series. Shadra and Ryan have a wonderful relationship both personal and in their unofficial professional capacity. As usual, the mystery has several twists and turns along the way to keep the reader engaged and guess until the big reveal.
I listened to the audio version of the book and narrator Ann M Thompson is wonderful at her job. She has a great voice, diction, accents, and comedic timing. She is great at bringing the story off the page.
I voluntarily agreed to read a copy of this book supplied by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.
Fatal Fall (Shandra Higheagle Mystery #8) was a good read by Paty Jager. Shandra Higheagle becomes wrapped up in another murder when the doctor doesn’t show up for her appointment. The doctor’s elderly aunt has everyone questioning what happened to his aunt and just who’s to blame. Sandra has dreams that tell her she’s on the right path, and that her best friend may be in grave danger. Detective Ryan Greer knows that even though Shandra is ill, she will still sneak around and investigate. He values her insights. I really enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
Fatal Fall by Paty Jager is an engaging cozy mystery. It is the eighth book in the Shandra Higheagle Mystery series and while reading the others will give some background to some of the characters, Fatal Fall can easily be read as a stand-alone novel. Shandra’s doctor visit starts her off on another search for a murderer and there are so many suspects. Who would kill such a wonderful old woman? And it is a good murder mystery–one that keeps the reader guessing right up to the end of the book as to who the culprit is. Amidst the cozy mystery, the romance between Shandra and Ryan continues and this reader continued to wonder if would Ryan ever pop the question? There are plenty of twists to the plot that keep the reader’s interest high and the characters are likable and realistic. I look forward to reading more of this author’s works. The narrator, Ann M. Thompson, does a good job giving voice to the characters as she reads the story which made for an enjoyable listening experience. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.
This is a fast read and enjoyable story with a few twists and turns to keep you guessing . I look forward to more Paty Jager books in the future
