There’s love,family,danger, and sex.
Well I’m giving The Nerd Who Loves Me 3 Stars. At first I was really enjoying it, maybe even more then the first book. I was so happy because for a while there this book was well on it’s way to being an cute 5 star read for me. I mean it pretty much had it all. A sexy hero with a good heart and a protective streak a mile wide, a sexy Vegas showgirl dancer, an adorably precocious little boy, and drunken no good ex trying to steal said boy, and the hero’s sweet mom and step father being understanding, accepting, and supportive. What’s not to love?
But then I started thinking why isn’t the hero coming off as nerdy. I mean this is a book about Nerdy heroes, but this hero Harry was more of an average Joe than a nerd. Yes he was an Accountant and he wore glasses, but other than that he didn’t give me the nerd vibe I was looking for. So I took a star off for that. Don’t get me wrong Harry was great if you like super protective, over 6ft, sexy, brown hair brown eye sex gods with a enormous penises. But I was looking for a nerd, a sexy nerd, but a nerd!
I liked the heroine for most of the book. I felt she was a great mom, she was sweet, smart playful and sexy. I was totally on board with her until about the 85-90% mark when she went and did something that made me lose a ton of respect for her. See her son’s father is from a super rich family. He is also a loser alcoholic that gets mean when he is drunk and he also gambles. Her and her son ran states away to start a new life and get away from him because he was getting so mean he was scaring their son. This asshat didn’t want anything to do with his son. Then out of the blue he shows up and kicks in her door causing Harry and her little boy to climb out a window and down a tree to get away from him. Now I tell you all that to tell you that she then decides at the 85-90% mark to talk to her ex to see what he wants. What does he want well he needs to show his dad that he has a son and is married to get his inheritance so he wants her to marry him so he can get money. And here is the kicker she, who is in love with Harry our hero, decides that she will get back with her ex because well he has a lot of money and she could give her son a better life. Really? Your child is scared to death of his drunken mean father that wanted nothing to do with him, you are in love with another man and he loves you too oh and he’s not poor or anything I mean Harry makes good money but you just have to marry the alcoholic gambling douche bag Really? At that point I was just mad!
And Poor Harry he was just gonna stand by and let her go off and marry her ex without saying Hey I love you marry me I’ll take care of you. Nope just gonna give up. The epilogue was sweet but even it couldn’t bring back my happy smile after that bullshit. So because I did enjoy most of the book I gave it 3 stars, but I was mad enough I wanted to give it 2. I hope the next one is better!
