a full on story of lives lived as if on a solo track until these lives meet and mesh in a wonderful way
This is the only warning I can give, be prepared to fall in love with all of the characters well maybe not all but close. Jillian Jones, after having to drop out of college because of no money has spent her time traveling from city to city in search of the father who dropped her off at college and left. Jillian has spent her life moving from place to place with her father and now abandoned she keeps hoping to find him again. Then Jillian arrives in Laurel Springs, Texas and takes a job in a quilt shop cataloging quilts and keeping company with her new boss’s grandmother Eugenia aka Gram who has Alzheimer’s. A beautifully written story that will grab your heart.
I often times select titles based upon the author. This book was no exception–Jodi Thomas is one of my favorites! To say that she creates memorable characters is grossly understated; Jodi Thomas builds an interesting and compelling plot founded upon real people who have credible feelings, valid concerns, human frailties, and the capacity to become important and worthwhile to the reader. The major and minor protagonists of this story come together sharing many personal challenges, hardships, and insecurities in an incredibly inspiring and uplifting manner. This author provides insight to relationships in this storyline which are meaningful with great sensitivity to all aspects of romantic love, friendship, and even consideration to one’s fellowman. This is one of Jodi Thomas’s best.
One of my favorite authors.
I really enjoyed this read! It was a sweet, small town romance, with characters who face challenges we do every day.
I loved Jillian’s roaming ways. It meant so much more when she found a reason to settle. Conner is sweet, and has faced challenges in his past, and is facing them daily. My heart broke for him as he was faced with a hard truth about a family member, but it made him that much more of a real hero. The secondary characters were phenomenal, and I enjoyed reading all the different stories that came along with each quilt. A great read that I would definitely recommend!
