I have discovered that I find a lot of my reading material based off IG or other Bookstagramers. I happened to find Samantha on IG and the book sounded pretty interesting so of course I went and got it. I am going to say I was not disappointed. There are some points here and there that we could of been given more information but for the most part it was an amazing read about overcoming adversity to find love.
Tessa is handed a huge blow in the prologue of the story with dealing with her husbands death. He was her everything along with their son Ty. He was her first and only love. She struggles for years to move on from that, but in doing so she seems to have closed herself off the the possibility of love beyond her son. Jake is not a stranger to pain. He suffered a major injury while fighting for our country and lost his leg. He has struggled with PTSD and learning how to walk again with the use of a prosthetic limb but he never lost hir positive outlook on life. These two are perfect for each other, but it takes time for Tess to open herself up to Jake. We are a part of that journey and are able to watch their love grown. This is not an insta-love story and I love that! This is basically the story of their love from start to finish. We get to see their love progress and also there hard times as well. Lind did not just show us the good, but the bad as well, which is true in real life. There is good and bad in every relationship, it is how you weather the storm that makes it all worth while.
My biggest complaint about this story is we are given absolutely not reaction or feeling about Jake and his prosthetic leg. Lind completely glances over it. I understand that Jake has come to terms with it so it is probably not a big deal to him at all, but doesn’t Tess have a reaction. We read about their discussions about having one, but we are never given any information about either characters feelings about it. It is completely implausible to say that neither character had any reaction to it at all. Lind makes it a point to show the emotions of the characters in every aspect of their growing love story to us, but this is just left to the way side like it is secondary information. This is information is important to the story line, but also important for us and Tessa to be able to understand Jake better and what he has gone through. By just glancing over that aspect of Jake’s life, we are left with many questions that come up again later in the story line.
Tempting Tess is another short read, but is worth it. We are not cheated out of anything in this story. Lind does any amazing job wrapping up all the lose ends and ensuring that Jake and Tessa’s journey is completed. I personally can not wait for her to write something else!
Tessa and Jake are both given a second chance at love and happiness in the debut novel, Tempting Tessa, by Samantha Lind. Tessa is a widow with a young son, who works tirelessly to give him the life her late husband would have wanted. She has a big family and a best friend who help her achieve this goal. Jake is a war veteran who returned home to take over his father’s construction company . He also works hard every day to be successful in his new career. Jake has experienced pain and suffering, both personal and as a veteran. He deserves happiness and someone to love.
Tessa and Jake are attracted to each other from the moment they met. They slowly get to know each other and it is a wonderful journey!! Tempting Tessa is heartwarming and fun, and gives us all hope that we can overcome any obstacles. I loved this book and I am looking forward to reading more from new author, Samantha Lind!!
This is an inspiring story about a man and a woman, who have both had tragedy strike, and have done their best to move past it. Be prepared for big, ugly tears!
Tessa is a widow with a young son, who lost her husband, who was a firefighter, in the line of duty. She has done well, but kept mostly to herself, other than family and close friends. When she has some repairs that need to be done to her home, she takes her best friend’s advise and hires a small, local company to do the work.
Jake is former military, who took over his family construction business, after returning home and leaving the military due to some pretty serious injuries. It took a long time, but he has finally regained his health, and mostly gotten a handle on his PTSD.
Despite an immediate attraction, this story has a slow, sweet build up between Jake and Tessa. I loved how real this story felt, how realistic the relationship between Jake and Tessa was. I loved how supportive they both are of each other and accepting of their faults. This story had several surprises built in, that kept me on my toes, and built the anticipation. This was a fabulous story that I’d recommend to anyone looking for a feel good story!
What an introduction to this new author! Fast paced book with a fantastic story and great twist! I liked the alternate POV’s for both characters. As an Army veteran and wife to a combat disabled veteran, I really related to the history of Jake and what Tessa went through. I liked the fact that this was an older couple with both having life experiences that molds them. The steamy scenes were just the right type of hotness and sweetness without overwhelming the reader. I see a bright future for Samantha Lind in her future books! Well done!!
