The formerly glorious god Apollo, cast down to earth in punishment by Zeus, is now an awkward mortal teenager named Lester Papadopoulos. In order to regain his place on Mount Olympus, Lester must restore five Oracles that have gone dark. But he has to achieve this impossible task without having any godly powers and while being duty-bound to a confounding young daughter of Demeter named Meg. … Thanks a lot, Dad. With the help of some demigod friends, Lester managed to survive his first two trials, one at Camp Half-Blood, and one in Indianapolis, where Meg received the Dark Prophecy. The words she uttered while seated on the Throne of Memory revealed that an evil triumvirate of Roman emperors plans to attack Camp Jupiter. While Leo flies ahead on Festus to warn the Roman camp, Lester and Meg must go through the Labyrinth to find the third emperor–and an Oracle who speaks in word puzzles–somewhere in the American Southwest. There is one glimmer of hope in the gloom-filled prophecy: The cloven guide alone the way does know. They will have a satyr companion, and Meg knows just who to call upon. . . .

I love this books about the god Apollo trapped in a human body and without powers, this book was funny, entertaining and full of action and mythological characters, I’ll be looking forward for the next book.
this book is grate
An emotional rollercoaster.
Love Apollo’s snark.
Great worldbuilding. Excellent twists and turns. Loads of action and adventure. Surprises galore.
I like how the Labyrinth (from the first Percy Jackson books, through the Heroes of Olympus books) grows and is used in this series. I also enjoyed the old myths running strong.
Apollo and Meg’s character growth is amazing and heartwrenching.
An excellent read. I love the dryads!
A must-read for fantasy and mythology fans.
Omg! Omg! Omg! Rip Jason grace!!!!!!!
Fun read.
I was a good story line, great characters, and I loved learning about the Norse mythology. However, the sexual content was not appropriate!
If you like the Percy Jackson series you will enjoy this book.
Tear jerker at some point, but still amazing book
An action-packed, highly emotional book, rather like The Empire Strikes Back in Star Wars, where things go right, but more things go wrong and the hill to victory just got a lot higher and steeper. Riordan’s imagination continues to amaze me with all the creatures he creates and animates and makes us care about. His humor keeps me laughing and sharing outrageous bits with those around me. Looking forward to the next book and missing Magnus Chase to keep me company in between.
I have enjoyed seeing the character development of Apollo and the return of beloved characters from other books. This was one of the sadder Riordan books, but it was needed.
Finally we have a winner! The first two books in this series – The Hidden Oracle (Book 1) and The Dark Prophecy (Book 2) were average entertainment HOWEVER The Burning Maze brought back to mind all the reasons I enjoy reading Rick Riordan’s books!
There was much more content – and less off to the side jokes and trips down Apollo’s memory lane in terms of his romantic adventures – offered in this book.
After reading books 1 and 2 I was starting to wonder aloud if the author had in fact lost his “touch”. The Burning Maze, book 3 in The Trials Of Apollo series proves otherwise!
How do you describe a book that has utterly destroyed you? Yes I gave it 5 stars and I recommend it, but it left me in tears. So please before you start this one, wait. Wait until the next book comes out so you dont have to wait in pain.
I Love This Book It’s Awesome And It’s About Greek Mythology
Uncle Rick never fails! This book is just amazing just like the rest of his book. A must read!
As always, Rick Riordan hit it out of the park!
I love Rick Riodan books.
Very engaging and educational also. I love these tales infused with Greek mythology!
Fun and easy to read. Riordan doesn’t disappoint. Entertaining for good readers 3rd grade and up. Probably challenging for most 3rd graders but a good series to start. A good read for kids and adults.
