Rich and detailed story revolving around three separate but connected characters. David is a compulsive, grasping New York City bank executive trying to make his climb to the top in record-breaking time. He is completely obsessed with being the best no matter what he is attempting to accomplish. This drive is bringing him closer to the edge of sanity. In another universe, an entity known as No-bouk, is nearing the end of its physical life-span and chooses one last mission. Across the Atlantic from New York, Alisdair, a well-respected lawyer, breathes his last and enters an amazing new existence where nearly anything is possible.
All three storylines move forward while growing more and more connected. Though the first few chapters moved slow for me, it wasn’t long before I had a difficult time putting it down. This is a deep and sometimes philosophical look at life, death, and the choices we make, along with a bit of love and lust thrown into the mix. I enjoyed the story and love the idea of a Main Records Library, where all lives are recorded and we can browse through these volumes in our afterlife. Highly Recommended!
Extremely creative, well written, science fiction novel with a twist of mystery and philosophy. This book is appealing to far more than just science fiction fans. Meriel does a wonderful job tying together the three different perspectives in the story. I highly recommend this entertaining, thought provoking book.
An amazing read that blends so many elements into a cohesive whole that I might just have to read it again to make sure I didn’t miss anything. And the ending…But I’m not giving anything away here. Excellent read.
