A Romance Writers of America® 2018 RITA® award winner! An NFL player with a secret past, and the one woman with the power to turn his world inside out… beneath my hand or the hitch in her breath when I kiss her neck.
When Emma’s unexpectedly left alone in Sin City, I agree to spend the weekend with her. As friends. Why not? If I can knock down the toughest guys in the NFL, I’m strong enough to keep my hands to myself, even if she is the sexiest woman I’ve ever met.
Emma is part of my past—years so shrouded in secrets that not even my best friends know the truth about who I am. I’m a single dad now and not interested in revisiting my old ways or trying to win back the only woman I ever let close enough to break my heart.
But this is Vegas, where all bets are off, and with Emma, nothing ever goes as planned…

DREAMY & DECEPTIVE SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE!
I was intrigued by Keegan from the very first book in this series! He just seemed so carefree and fun, just out for a good time. Never would I have imagined the pain that lay beneath the surface.
I hope you’re ready for a book that boils over with secrets! Just when you figure one out something else comes along. It was a crazy, wild ride! One thing I enjoyed was the chemistry between Emma & Keegan; I loved how hard it was for these two to resist each other.
Now, comes the hard part! I’m not sure if it was just me, if it was the book itself or what…but this one didn’t work out for me like the others. I think one reason I might not have enjoyed it as much is because of the baby momma drama. Regardless, I loved Keegan as a character and how devoted he was to his daughter. I might have spent a lot of time internally screaming at these characters to come clean with each other. ALL THE SECRETS! Gotta give the author props for that though; way to engage my emotions! lol.
One thing I have to say that I absolutely ADORED about this book was the heroine! She wasn’t that paper thin heroine you tend to get so many times in books. This woman had curves and I loved how before I started I had no idea that this heroine was curvy. Why….A woman’s body should not be expected to be one shape, so when I find a book where the heroine isn’t what society deems perfect I want to shout read this! Because it’s completely normal to encounter women of all sizes everywhere you look…I’m glad to see someone doing it in a book too!
I have really enjoyed this series and even though Falling Hard did not hit right with me, I enjoyed most of it and I’ll still read the next one in the series.
Falling Hard is part of a series yet can be read as a complete standalone.
4.5 Stars!
I was completely captivated by this intriguing, and sexy story about forgiveness and second chances. I loved how expertly Ms. Ryan drew us in with a unique tale that was sexy, sweet, funny, mysterious and at some points horrifying. Each facet of this story was cleverly unfolded to keep you guessing and turning the pages to discover what was either in store or what had happened in the past. Keegan is a wonderful single dad who is kind, sweet, very protective and very alpha. He flies out to Las Vegas to celebrate the coming wedding of his friends from college. It is there that he sees the one woman he never thought he would meet again. Former actress, Emma Rothschild, is the love of his life and the one who suddenly left him, heartbroken. When he falls into the same trap, he swears he will forget her. When she shows up at his door days later soaking wet and distraught, he breaks all his rules and takes her in. Emma fled from a life of loneliness and betrayal. She tried to do what was best for everyone but could never forget the only man who loved her for herself. Now she wants to rekindle what they once had. As they spend more time together they begin to hope they might make it this time. But they both have secrets that could tear them apart, and also those who want to come between them. Will they be able to forgive each other and fight for the love they have never lost or will they fall short again? Ms Ryan expertly moves between past and present, keeping me guessing what really happened. We get to see all of their good friends from previous books. Their banter is clever and their funny and sometimes adversarial interactions made this story feel very genuine and honest. There were several twists and turns that added suspense and kept me intrigued. I felt it wrap up a little too neatly and quickly for one or two characters, but mostly I loved Keegan and Emma’s journey back to each other. Mason and Bailey played a huge role in this book setting up their tumultuous and sexy story beautifully. I can’t get enough of this series and this group of friends and am excited for Bailey & Mason’s story next!
I loved this series and reading about each member of this tight-knit group of friends.
great story
This had a good plot, it just took forever to get to it….character interactions were realistic.

I loved Keegan since I first read about him in the previous books and I was so excited to finally get to know his story. Although I love all of the Blackhawk boys, I think I always loved Keegan the most. (I’ve read ‘Rushing In’ and ‘Going Under’ so far.)
I was really excited when I started reading this book because hey, it’s Keegan’s story!! Finally!! From the other books, I was used to some drama with lots of fun parts. In this book there were a lot more serious topics and this might’ve been one of the reasons why I liked it so much.
The story jumped back and forth between the present and five years ago where everything started. And although five years passed and both their lives changed a lot, their feelings never faded despite all of their secrets.
The Story:
They haven’t seen each other for five years, now Emma and Keegan meet unexpectedly in Las Vegas. Both haven’t been able to forget each other in all those years but this isn’t a happy reunion because even though they plan to stay on friendly terms, a drunken night in Vegas doesn’t let them go back to their old life as if nothing happened. Buried feelings come back to the surface and secrets come back haunting them. Can they ever sort out what separated them five years ago?
Thoughts:
My heart belongs to Keegan. He’s a troubled soul with an ugly past overshadowing his pure heart. I loved him so much. He tried to be better and he wanted to learn from his mistakes but he got blinded from bad people trying to manipulate him. At least that’s how I think of this woman, she who must not be named. HaHa
He was always too good to Olivia and I never understood why he just couldn’t let her go. She was a gold-digging and selfish woman. It was heartbreaking to see him sad over Olivia’s rejection in the previous books. You cannot imagine how relieved I was when I knew that she wasn’t going to be the one for him. Thank you!! I hated her so much that I wanted to punch her. Such a b*tch! I always disliked her.
I loved the writing, I loved the story but not everything was perfect. The story felt a bit long somewhere in the middle of the book. I was annoyed at Emma for dragging this out so much and for not talking to Keegan about her secrets. I mean, come on! How can all that happen and you live like that and still keep your secrets? I understand that it’s hard to talk about secrets; why else would they be secrets in the first place; but she could have said something without telling everything to ease his mind and their situation. This was something that really bothered me some bit. I also would have liked to read some more of Keegan with Jasmin. Everything else was really good even though I could have done without the crazy bitch but there had to be something other than just hearts and flowers right?
Well, another great story in this series and another Blackhawk boy taken. I’m looking forward to Mason’s story! Yay!
