Sebastian Grenville, The Duke of Sindalton, known as Sin to the ton, has had his fair share of scandal. His father’s involvement in what became referred to as ‘The Scandal of the Century’ plunged him into the spotlight at the tender age of twelve, and he’s been there ever since. Egged on by his best friend, Beau – The Marquis of Beaumont, his life is one of dissipation and ease. But every duke … needs an heir and everyone knows Sindalton is in the market for a wife.
Both men, bored to death by balls and matchmaking mamas, go to a friend’s hunting lodge in Cornwall. But caught in a storm, Sindalton heads for cover. Seeking shelter in a cave, the duke is delighted when he stumbles upon Miss Georgiana Bomford, the niece of the local doctor. But the feisty red-headed beauty is unimpressed by his attempt to entice her. Sindalton, however, is captivated and intent on seduction, makes her the target of his all too tempting charms. But Georgiana is not who he thinks she is, and when they meet again in London, the scandalous past is in danger of repeating itself.

This is a really good story that captures you right from the beginning. As the story takes it twists and turn, information is revealed that history may be repeating itself. Friendships will be tried and love drives Sebastien to certain madness when Georgina is kidnapped. This one is very romantic, even through the lies and challenges this couple will have to overcome.
enjoyed it
Must read!!!!!
Really good. I got a little nervous in the middle, when it seemed the story was veering off into love triangle territory, but then it righted itself again :). As a bonus, every cameo featuring the Earl of Falmouth was pure gold. And that blurb for part 4! Not sure I can download the book fast enough…
This story shows just one example of the importance of protecting ones reputation and avoiding any form of scandal in old England. It’s evident the Amish don’t hold the market on shunning. The Ton was worse because it carried down from the parents to the children. In this case it was hard for Georgiana and Sebastian to be together. Two innocent young people desperately in love caught up in a mess their parents made. Of course a villain and a trouble maker adding to their misery. Frustrating. A good story and a good plot. I enjoyed reading this. Thanks Emma!
Love these books by this author, highly recommend all in this Regency series, can’t wait for more. Great storyteller with a marvellous spence of humor
Well written, with an original plot. There were a few unexpected twists. The characters were very vibrant.
Truly enjoy this read and felt drawn to the characters, but found myself fascinated with the character Beau, the real Beau which lead me to reading the following book, ” The Devil May Care” and found it to be even more absorbing.
Well developed characters.
Fat paced, never a dull moment, enjoyed
Wanted to slap the H a few times.
Good read
Finished Scandal’s Daughter by Emma V. Leech
I continue to be enthralled with the Rogues & Gentlemen series. Even though Leech does use phonetically spelling to convey an accent (which I hate), I’m overlooking it because of her ability to weave a fairytale of romance. Each book in the series can stand on its own, but getting the back story on secondary characters is always helpful.
good read
Sometimes have to wonder how an author “plants” such strange thoughts in her characters.
I got it for free and it was not bad – good enough I bought the follow up of his friend as well.
The 3rd book in Emma Leech’s Rogues &Gentlemen series …. I adore that with each book we get to delve into characters we met briefly and were entranced by in the previous books.
As with all the books in this series, Scandal’s daughter is a delightful foray into early 19th century England and the inner workings of the Ton. We also get to catch up with much beloved characters from the previous books making this a truly delightful read with a great storyline of its own rife with several twists and turns.
The author does a great job of moving the plot for these believable characters without the use of artificial tricks or silliness. Good read and very entertaining.
Intricate, exciting romance. Well developed characters and a fast paced story line that is full of twists and turns make this a good read. This is my first book by Emma Leech and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I met the characters from the second book in the series and it just makes me want to read that one now.
This is the story of two people whose parents were steeped in scandal. One knows about it, but the other does not.
Sebastian Grenville, Duke of Sindalton, lost his father at the age of twelve. His father was involved in a duel over a married woman and the woman’s husband was killed. His father and the woman were fleeing England when the boat sank and both of them drowned. Sebastian has lived with the scandal since he was twelve and he’s tried every day since then to live so that his family gets out from under the scandal.
Miss Georgiana Bomford never knew either of her parents because both died when she was just a baby. She grew up in a very loving home with her aunt and uncle and had no idea of the scandal surrounding her parent’s deaths. She thought she was just a simple niece of the local doctor.
Sebastian is so disillusioned with all of the females he meets because none of them see him, they are only interested in his title and his money. So, when he meets a lovely young woman while he is visiting a friend’s estate, he pretends to be someone else. Needless to say – the attraction turns to love, but he knows he cannot marry a commoner, so he leaves her there.
Shortly after Sebastian leaves, Georgiana gets a visit from a greedy, controlling, hateful uncle that she didn’t even know she had. He informs her that he is her legal guardian and that he will be back to pick her up and she will be marrying. Luckily her aunt and uncle knew the details of her parents wills and they told her she was an heiress and that her other uncle just wants her to marry someone he can control so he can have her inheritance.
Imagine how surprised Sebastian is when he sees her in London – and EVERYBODY knows she is the daughter of the woman at the center of his father’s scandal. Sebastian is shocked – the woman he loves is the daughter of the SIREN. How can that be!
There are many other characters in the book – good and bad – and they all do their very best to either help or hinder Sebastian and Georgiana. Beau, The Marquis of Beaumont is Sebastian’s best friend. Beau has a despicable father and that has shaped him into a sort of twisted fellow. He’s one character you’ll have a love/hate relationship with. Hang loose, the next book is about him and I’m looking forward to seeing his redemption.
I won’t cover the rest of the plot, but I hope you will give the book a try and enjoy it as much as I did!
