Her world is ending, but only she can stop all of existence from meeting the same fate… eccentric neighbor Gloria, the woman’s stunning amethyst necklace and Black Madonna painting draw her into a world of ancient secrets, dark forces, and powerful magic.
It is a world in which black women are divine. Alena finds that it is up to her to save humanity from a universal evil, the Shetani. To succeed, Alena must first conquer her own darkness; if she loses, the fate of the world is at stake. A brilliantly crafted story that seamlessly grapples race, oppression, divinity, and the redemptive power of forgiveness.
“Riveting and engaging. A Fistful of Honey is an epic, spellbinding tale filled with heart-pounding action. Crawford offers a thrilling sensory experience reminiscent of Octavia Butler’s sci-fi and fantasy classics that will transport you between times and worlds; across the plains of Africa, to the rice fields of the deep south.”
-Debrena Jackson Gandy, New York Times bestselling author of Sacred Pampering Principles: An African-American Woman’s Guide to Self-Care

This book was so intriguing and spell binding I found it hard to put down! The way the characters were intertwined was so riveting. I really loved the way the story unfolded to show all the aspects of Alena’s lack of self worth, but her strength as well. Through all the loss, pain and suffering she endured she was amazed to find she was much more stronger and special that she knew. I don’t like to give away too much of the story, but there was some twist in this book that will make you start to think or should I say rethink some of the ideologies we have come to accept as written in stone. It certainly made me take a closer look at some of my beliefs. If for no other reason than to be thoroughly entertained, this is a must read book. Malena Crawford has definitely join my list of favorite authors.
I love the complexity of the characters, and quiet honestly, novel that carry a god meets man theme are always a good read for me.
This book is a good read. At times I thought I would figure out what happened but I was always wrong. There were still some things that I wanted answered. The inspiration for this book was amazing. If you need a book about finding your faith again, this is the book to read.
The editing made following along with conversations difficult. I loved the original content of mythology, faith, and current events!
I read it in one evening because I needed to know what the ending would really be.
Such an inspiring read if you are a black woman.
It’s about darn time we had a copper colored woman be the focus of a book. Highly enjoyed it!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Great story
From the entire contents of this story (although it did have some truths in it and as usual truths wrapped up/cloaked in falsehoods — foundational falsehoods and belief systems) — you could tell that this writer is very much still a believer of this false matrix. Furthermore, it is crazy religious although in a New Agey sort of way. I gave it an average vs below average because it did cause me some growth (although not in the traditional path or way one might assume). I had so much hope … oh well … “Until you find your truth, keep looking!”
This book was NOT what I expected at all. The paranormal parts I had to skip through it was just ridiculous and not for me. Which is weird because I normally like a good paranormal romance. It was bad AND disappointing.
It caused me to wonder how much of this belief system might be true. I wanted to know more about it.
Good book fast read
Just a simple easy to read love/self-discovery story. Easy summer read but not much more.
It was just OK. It is brave to mix biblical principles and concepts with “other” spiritual realms. But it teeters on the edge of sacrilege.
I thought it was an immature and sort of nonsensical pseudo religious plot which I did not appreciate at all.
