Watchmaker. Car thief. Heartbreaker extraordinaire.Rooke Blackheath has spent enough time in juvie to know that he really doesn’t want to go to jail. The food sucks, the clothes itch, and there are absolutely no women in sight. Well…none he wants to fuck, anyway. He should probably stop boosting cars, but the money is stellar and the high is out of this world. And why should he turn his back on … turn his back on something that sets his soul on fire anyway?
The answer to that question comes in an unexpected form—a petite five-foot-three firecracker named Sorcha, who refuses to give him the time of day no matter how thick he lays on the charm.
Rooke’s not easily deterred, though. Just like the watches he builds from scratch, Rooke knows all too well how women tick. Women are a game to him. A game he always wins.
Sasha doesn’t stand a chance.

Sasha Connor’s life has been permanently derailed since her son died five years ago. You wouldn’t know it to look at her, of course. She has a great job, a beautiful house, and caring friends. Every week, she hosts a book club featuring the sexiest, most romantic stories on the planet, and every week she falls for a new fictional knight in shining armor.
Fictional men are perfect. They don’t hurt you. They don’t break your heart. They don’t cheat on you after your child dies, and they rarely ever leave the toilet seat up.
When Rooke Blackheath shows up at Sasha’s workplace, it’s clear he’s nothing like the men who grace the pages of her favorite books. Dangerous, arrogant, sharp-tongued and sarcastic, Rooke’s not the kind of guy she needs in her life. Not to mention the fact that he’s eleven years her junior.
As far as Sasha is concerned, Rooke doesn’t just live in a different world. He lives in a different galaxy altogether. She’d like to keep it that way, but fate appears to have other plans.
When Cinderella lost her shoe, Prince Charming showed up at her door.
When Sasha Connor loses her book, an entirely different kind of rogue comes a-knocking.

Sasha was lost in a world of pain and lose trying to survive the day when she meets Rooke. Dangerous, arrogant, and not what she needs in her life. But he’s exactly what she’s missing.
I wasn’t sure how this book will turn out.
It was dark and heartbreaking.
Bad things kept happening to Sasha but she didn’t give up. I admired her strength even though sometimes it seemed like she wanted to quit and stop the pain with drinking.
“If my heart gets broken again, what’s one more fracture amongst a spider’s web of scars?”
Rooke was good for her. He made her see that she can’t keep running. Forced her to see how strong and brave she can be.
““I’ll take a part of your soul,” he says quietly. “Give me the wounded part. Give me the part that hurts you every time you breathe. Give me the part that feels so heavy you just don’t think you can carry it anymore. I’ll take care of it for you.””
The way he told her that he loved at the end of the book was so heartwarming and cute. It made her connection to him deeper and reminded her that he will remember her son too.
“I mirror the shape he’s made with his hand and I press my fingertips to his, index finger-to-index finger, pinkie-to-pinkie, thumb-to-thumb.”
You won’t regret reading this one.
Another fantastic book by Callie Hart!! I’m really hoping we see more of Sasha and Rooke in either another book for them or in a cameo in other books! It was very action packed and hot! The fact that Sasha lost her son killed me through this whole book. Emotions ran high and I was so devastated for her. I wanted to kill Andrew OMG I could’ve seriously jumped through this book and stabbed him! Can’t wait to start another Callie Hart book!!
I was so excited to read this book and it absolutely lived up to all my expectations. I don’t think I have the words to adequately describe how much I loved this story but here goes.
Sasha is emotionally scarred due to a tragedy in her life. She is going through the motions, existing but not really living. Outwardly, she appears strong but inside she’s detached and struggles with the pain of not being able to prevent the disaster, blaming herself for it. A shell of a woman, her grief at times is palpable.
Rooke is a young, sexy, tattooed force of nature. Part time criminal, full time watchmaker, who comes into her life unexpectedly and refuses to leave. He is wise beyond his years and is intent on showing Sasha how to live again, determined that she should give him and them a chance at something real.
“I’ll take a part of your soul,” he says quietly. “Give me the wounded part. Give me the part that hurts you every time you breathe. Give me the part that feels so heavy you just don’t think you can carry it anymore. I’ll take care of it for you.”
Ms Hart is a superb writer who, through her words, is able to tear your heart apart and then put it back together again. Definitely not your typical romance, this book is full of darkness and violence, suspense and intrigue but there are also wonderfully tender moments, laugh out loud moments and intensely erotic scenes.
Her excellent descriptive language transported me into the world of these characters, so that at times I felt as though I was an actual witness to their scenes, watching them, rather than simply reading about them. Their love is not clichéd or superficial but deep and intoxicating and something they have to fight hard for.
This is everything I have come to expect from Callie Hart and so much more. Not just a story on how to love but how to live against all the odds.
Rooke and Sasha are complete opposites. Rooke a troubled guy on the wrong side of the law. Sasha has a tragic past but seems to have it all together until you look a little closer. So what happens when they come crashing together? Rooke is so Alpha, he knows what he wants and takes charge. Sasha thinks she wants to be left alone but Rooke knows just what she needs and doesnt take no for an answer. Sasha pjts up a fight but is it really worth it or better to just give in? What happens when she stops fighting and expects what Rooke has to offer? Callie did amazing builting these twos back story. We see why they tick the way they do and when the two come together its beautiful and explosive!
