A fantastic read that had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. This is a fast paced action packed thriller. That has epic Scenes the Author has really brought the story out as well as the Character development. This would make a fantastic Movie or on Netflix. I definitely recommend this.
Title, Lies Come True, immediately had my curiosity up wondering how and expecting an intriguing read. I wasn’t disappointed as Emerald O’Brien brought a 10 year mystery back to life in a most shocking way. The mystery became a thriller as suspense grew with edgy tension and I suspected several cops, friends and family. Ms. O’Brien’s writing has held me in previous books and now, too, even knowing how the lies came true. In fact, more intense fear was felt as I finished this great read! The end of Avery Hart book 1, left me compelled me to read book 2. I recommend this great read for fans of mystery and suspense.
a good fun read.
Lies Come True is the opening act of Emerald O’Brien’s Avery Hart Trilogy. It is like sitting down and watching a British serial crime drama television series (think of Broadchurch…) that is taking place in Birch Falls, Ontario.
The writer is masterful in keeping you at the edge of your seat and as Lies Come True is the first of the trilogy then she will leave us with one heck of a cliffhanger that I am sure I am not the only one impatient to read!
We have Avery Hart who survived an attack when she was fourteen. Wind forward ten years and another woman has been attacked and she survives as well … are these cases related? Enter Inspector Noah Cotter who is keen on solving the case while also being attracted to Avery … the writer gives us some intense and detailed police investigation descriptions, a puzzle that I was not able to solve until the pieces had been put together and actually, there are still some things up in the air … I have a slight feeling that we need to get to the end of the trilogy to be able to solve it all!
Lies Come True is the first book in the Avery Hart Trilogy by Emerald O’Brien. It is the first book I have read by this author but I loved it. The cover art drew me in, and the suspense filled story line kept me engaged until the end. I cant wait to read book 2. Avery Hart escapes an attack in the woods as a teenager, and spends years in therapy as a result. Just when she has a handle on life, the killer turns back up. First a body of a young woman is found in a park in the same town. Then a second victim manages to escape, and the stories are eerily similar. Avery works with the detectives and victim to try to help solve the crime and put her fears to rest. Very intense suspense filled book, but I loved it!
Lies Come True is the first book in the Avery Hart series by author Emerald O’Brien. As a fourteen-year-old girl, new student at a new high school, Avery Hart is attacked on her walk home from school. For the past ten years Avery has struggled to get over what happened in the past. Nobody believed her story when she was young, now the attacker is back and coming for her.
I enjoyed this story for the most part although I did struggle from time to time. The story got disjointed at times making it kind of hard to follow. The storyline was a good one and I didn’t see the twist at the end coming so now I look forward to reading the next book to see what happens next. Hopefully book 2 doesn’t leave me confused, ties up some loose ends and flows better than the first.
If you come to the reviews before you grab a novel then, please let me be the first to tell you DON’T skip this book if you just sincerely don’t like cliffhangers. It is worth it I promise and you can run right now and grab the next one, and the next one… You don’t want to miss this book! I absolutely love a good and twisty murder mystery and this right here has all the pieces necessary for just that. An A++ perfect twisty murder mystery. There is quite a bit going on in this story and we are introduced to several characters so you will want to dive in for the good details on all that. I am going to go jump into book two now and see about finding out what will happen next! Thanks for the fantastic read Ms. O’Brien!
Lies Come True (The Avery Hart Trilogy Book 1) by Emerald O’Brien
5-Stars
Lies Come True is an exciting crime/thriller novel. I love how the book begins with the reader in the midst of one of the crimes. It immediately caught my attention and I had to know more. Avery is the main female lead character in this novel who has developed what seems to be a complex because no one believed her story from when she was chased at a young age. Her experience was terrifying and traumatic. I loved how Noah believed her and began checking into it. They had a strong connection as soon as they met. The storyline was exciting and interesting. I can’t wait to read more in this series.
Lies Come True by Emerald O’Brien is the first book in the Avery Hart Trilogy. I will warn you that this is a book that has a “to be continue” feel towards the end of the book. In other words, if you do not like cliffhangers this book may not be for you. I on the other hand love cliff hangers. This is my first book by Emerald O’Brien and it was a great suspenseful mystery. Not only is this book a great suspenseful mystery, but also a thriller, drama, and the occasional right hook out of nowhere. Avery Hart is the main character that had a traumatic experience about 10 years prior and it appears as if the attacker has come back to attack again. With the recent events happening in town, will Avery be able to put the past in the past and help with the new cases? Noah is the local inspector who is looking into the crimes. Every time I thought I had a grasp of what was going on here comes that screwball out of left field. I love that this story kept me guessing. I cannot wait to read the next book to continue the story on.
Lies Come True (The Avery Hart Trilogy Book 1) By Emerald O’Brien
4 Stars!!!!
I do like to mix it up a bit and read a bit of a mystery sometimes. This was a new author and a new series to me and I was not disappointed. I really found this to be a refreshing change and well written. The book grabbed me from the beginning and held me till the end.
I found myself really drawn to Avery’s character. The fact that her case was indirectly tied into the new ones just brought a real good twist to the book. I really found myself feeling the emotions as she was going through them as she found out the truth of what really happened. Then the author does a good job of throwing in just that little twist to keep the book flowing and I found myself then really drawn to Charla’s character. I must admit that I cannot wait to read more from this author and this series to see how things turn out.
Lies Come True (The Avery Hart Trilogy Book 1) by Emerald O’Brien is a great dark thriller, murder mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat through to the end. Emerald has very cleverly written something that completely throws you off track just when you think you have got it worked out. The suspense will keep you on alert and intrigued without letting go. This is a brilliant start to the series and I can not wait The book is an emotional rollercoaster ride and the angst and fear is palpable.
Avery has lived her life in constant fear since her attack 10 years ago, but when she sees a police report her world is once again turned upside down and her worst nightmare is coming to rule her life again. With a crazy killer on the loose can the police keep all of the girls safe?
This is on thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat and your heart rate pulsing and the only downside is that it ends with a cliffhanger. No fair Emerald. I am trying to be patient and wait for the next story but it’s hard.
Lies Come True by Emerald O’Brien is the first book in the Avery Hart Trilogy is reminded me how much I love a crime story. I started reading it in the tub and before I knew it the water was cold and I had already read the first quarter of the book. I hated putting it down long enough to get out and ready for bed.
Avery was attacked when she was only fourteen years old as she was walking home from school. She barely escaped with her life that day.
Fast forward ten years, women are being attacked in a similar area and the description given matches the one Avery gave all those years ago and she decided to reach out to the police department and that is when Noah enters her world.
There are things I want to mention but they could be considered spoilers and the last thing I want to do is ruin this book for anyone. Looking to find time now to read the next book in this series.
WOW!!!
This story was a real page turner for me. LIES COME TRUE is book 1 in the Avery Hart trilogy and holy moly if the next two are as good as this one, I will never get chores done until the very last page.
This is one of those books that I desperately wanted to skip ahead to find out how it resolves itself. There are A LOT of characters and sometimes I had to slow down to remember who was who. The story has a very strong plot point that involves mis-direction, murder, and mystery. There were parts that made me grateful I wasn’t reading it home alone. It is NOT horror, but there was a noise in the dark that gave me pause.
While this is a long book with lots of chapters, each chapter was on the shorter side so it was easy to navigate from the beginning to the end.
I absolutely will be downloading the second and third books in the trilogy because I need to know who/what/why/how/when IMMEDIATELY.
Lies Come True (The Avery Hart Trilogy Book 1)
by Emerald O’Brien
I really enjoyed the suspense and the action in this story. This book kept me on the edge of my seat most of the time and I kept trying to figure out who is the person behind this. There were some surprises that I didn’t see coming, which made this story that much more interesting. There are wonderful characters in this book and I hope to get to them even better in the next two installments. I must warn you that this book ends on a major cliffhanger, but that just means that I have to start reading the next one right away. I highly recommend this book.
Lies Come True (The Avery Hart Trilogy Book 1) By Emerald O’Brien. This book definitely kept me on my toes with its twists and turns. It’s well written and and honestly I found myself forgetting I was reading a book. I love a book that has a storyline that keeps me on the edge of my seat with trying to figure everything out. The author created a world of mystery, suspense and wondering, with characters that are complex and relatable. I’m excited to read more not only from this Trilogy but from this author. I’m giving this story a four star review and highly recommend it.
I found this book to be entrancing, suspenseful, and unique. As the first installment of the trilogy, many details are outlined in the pages that I hope to find resolution to as I progress through the series. The characters are interesting and I found the plot to move at a good pace and to be well developed. I enjoyed this author and the book and look forward to reading more of this series.
This is a must read mystery-thriller story that left me sitting on the edge of my seat with most of this book. The story is creative and well written. I loved how it pulled me into the story, made me feel part of it as well. The characters bring the story to life for me as well as connectable. Just when I thought I knew what would happen next, bomb! It kept me guessing for sure. Avery has been going day to day in fear of her past but will her worst fear come for her again? A must read!
Plot was OK, but a slow read.
Didn’t want to put this book down! So many twists and turns, I had to buy the rest of the books in the trilogy to find out who dunnit!
I downloaded this book to take on vacation, but after I started into it, somehow the book got finished before the packing did.
