What an awesome and fun read!! I love Star Wars and have lost count how many times I have watched the movies. I received Empire Strikes Back as a birthday gift and quickly learned there was this one and had to grab it…because OCD and I can’t read out of order
This is a fantastic collection of short stories that scatter with the characters throughout the movies. Ever wonder what a Jawa thinks? Or why the droid that Uncle Owen and Luke first bought actually smokes creating the need to buy R2D2 instead? What does the bartender from the Cantina actually do when he’s not working? What does a Stormtrooper think about the rebel alliance and doing their duty?
This book has it all and more. You are even reaquainted with Qui-Gon Jinn from the other side of the force and get to read what Yoda thinks of his time on Dagobah and being asked to train Luke by Obi-Wan.
Man am I in nerdy heaven I am not waiting long to start reading the next one. I feel the need to binge watch the movies … again
It was easy to read if not a little predictable but was sometimes ran long in some of the stories.
This was a great collection of stories revolving around the very first Star Wars movie. Because there has been such an explosion of books, movies, and TV series, there is a wealth of information available to create new stories from, and the authors here did just that. Taking side characters in nearly every scene of the movie (where there are side characters), the authors fleshed out their lives to show us how the event of the movie play out…from a certain point of view. As with any anthology, there were some stories that were better and some that weren’t as good, but overall, this was a very enjoyable dig “behind the scenes” of A New Hope. I’m looking forward to another book for the 40th anniversaries of the other two original movies.
Great short stories that really expand the satellite characters of the Star Wars universe.
Fills in many of the spaces between the movies, and answers a lot of questions raised.
A number of interesting backstories revolving around a single Star Wars scene. Very imaginative!!
Loved this book. The way the stories give us insight into background characters stories and perspectives on how the events of A New Hope effect them is fantastic. Wait till you read the story of Motti’s complaint to ‘HR’ about Vader’s behavior. It’s hilarious! If you are a fan of Star Wars you need to read this book. Hopefully they publish ones for the other films.
A fun book, especially for a Star Wars fan
What a fun “behind the scenes look at all the “minor” players in Episode IV! All the authors who contributed dd an astounding job at creating and capturing these characters in just a few brief pages. I left me hungry for more of their stories!!
It’s the story of Star Wars from the eyes of people and aliens in the background. Everyone from the band playing at the cantina to the creature in the trash compactor. If guy like audiobooks, it’s worth picking the audiobooks as well.
Star Wars – A New Hope, from the characters in the background.
