A perfect beach read from Melissa Foster to kick start your summer fun!
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
This is the second book in the Bayside Summers series and it has all the friends and some new ones that make this story great.
Emery Andrews is a yoga instructor with specializing in back care. After a bad situation at her work, she moves to be closer to her BFF to work at the inn and the resort. But what she doesn’t realize is that she also wants to be closer to Dean. She met Dean while visiting Desiree and he became her BFF too. They talked each night and got closer to each other the months she was away.
Dean Masters was attracted to Emery from the first moment he saw her. He cherished every moment they spent talking, texting or any time they spent together. And having her move to the Cap and working at the inn and the resort only made it easier for him to spend time with her.
Will Emery give her and Dean a chance at a relationship before she ruins it? Will Dean make her see that they belong together? Can Emery make his father see that Dean is a good man even though he doesn’t follow in his footsteps? Can Emery get her yoga classes and her back-care specialist care going as she hopes?
I love this series and each one is as great as the other. If you are looking for a great series that will pull you in and have you laughing and leave you wanting more, then you need to read this series. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Audiobook Review:
While this was an overall really good read, Dean kind of stole the show for me. He was so sweet and patient. He was so thoughtful and understanding. He was just an excellent man. Melissa Foster is really good at that in my opinion though. She develops her characters really well and you can connect with them. That was Dean for me. Don’t get me wrong, Emery was great too. But I really enjoyed Dean’s character.
BJ Harrison was the same steady, enjoyable narrator I’ve heard for the last several books in this series. He’s got a great voice and there were no complaints.
This was just a nice little romance . It wasn’t filled with a lot of drama or meddling friends. It was a fun, flirty read between a landscaper and a yoga instructor. Two people who considered themselves friends until they ended up being more. Emery and Dean fit together well. Where she was outgoing and direct, Dean was more cautious, but definitely adventurous. When Emery turns to Dean for a place to stay while she’s getting her Yoga business up and running, they end up heading into their Bayside passions.
I listened to this on audible. The narrator was OK for the story.
I love these cast of characters in this sweet and sexy series. This story is about Dean and Emery’s romance and it was so much fun! They had become close, long distance friends, after meeting earlier at Rick and Desiree’s Christmas party. After a heartbreaking betrayal, Emery is moving to Bayside to live and work. Dean couldn’t be happier, since he has wanted Emery from the first moment he met her. Emery is so naive and clueless to her feelings, but her attraction and desire for Dean grows stronger everyday. But she has been burned by a work romance before and is afraid to cross that line again. But Dean is so patient with Emery, trying not to scare her off and ruin their friendship. He is determined to convince her how perfect they are for each other and win her over. They are so cute together and I really cheered for their HEA! This sweet, engaging, and sexy romance is filled with witty banter, quirky characters, awkward situations, and fiery chemistry. Narrator, B.J. Harrison brings these characters to life and makes you fall in love with this quaint seaside community. I loved this fun, sweet & sexy romance, and want more of these wonderful friends and family of Bayside!
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Emery Andrews shows the difference between residents and non-residents. We remember to stop as close to the last rest stop as possible because you just never know. You always want to plan when it’s “in season”. Dean Masters will have you laughing along with him. This is one thing I love about this author. She makes it so easy to laugh at someone else’s pain. She also has me wishing that I could call Dean – I could use his help out in my yard.
Our couple just seems so easy going with each other. And that’s true about all the friends. You can see how much they all care about each other. I laughed so hard throughout this book and you’ll find that hard not to do right from the very start. Our author shows how hard it can be for friends to take their relationship to the next level. I still plan on making a return trip to the Cape and when I do I will be people watching with a more discerning eye to see I can make out a group of friends who remind me of Ms. Foster’s characters. Oh, did I not mention that her books will be there with me? The Cape, and Ms. Foster’s books, bring back some very happy memories from my childhood.
The only thing I couldn’t figure out with this book was whether I loved Dean and the way he kept chipping away at a wall to get to the woman behind it. I will also have to think of Dean as I rake up the numerous oak leaves that end up in my yard every year. Or was it watching the light going on above Emery’s head. Looking forward to Bayside Heat – can’t get here soon enough.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
BAYSIDE PASSIONS by Melissa Foster is book Two in the “Bayside Summers” series. This is the story of Dean and Emery. I thought was easily a standalone book.
Emery and Dean hit is off after meeting at a wedding and kept in touch. But Emery has been putting him in the friend zone and Dean wants more. Emery ends up moving to start a new chapter in her life with puts in moving closer to her best friend and of course Dean.
This was really a sweet friendship to romantic love story. I am a fan of this author and will look forward to more of her books.
Great Book. Read it in 2 days!
As with all of Melissa Foster’s books this one not only had great characters and secondary characters it had a great story line and tons of HOT sexy times.
Emery has moved to Wellfleet, Massachusetts to start over. Her best friend Desiree had moved to the small town in cape cod a few months earlier to help take over her mothers inn and since then Emery had become friends with some of Desiree’s friends, especially Dean whom she now considers her second BFF.
Dean had been head over heals for Emery when they met and now that she is moving from Virginia to Wellfleet he is hoping that he can convince her that taking a chance on him will not ruin their friendship but that it will make their relationship even better. Now, how can he make her see that her rule of not “hooking up with friends” needs to be thrown out the window because he knows what he feels for her is much deeper than friendship.
I really liked Dean and Emery together and I enjoyed watching Dean prove to Emery that he was the perfect man for her. This is the second book in the Bayside Summers series and although it can be read as a standalone I suggest reading Bayside Desires first because it was to good not to read.
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
Melissa Foster NEVER disappoints!! Great escape books!
This is a very apt title for a book – Bayside Passions is indeed filled with so much passion and steamy romance that for Emery and Dean it is off the charts!
Emery is Desiree’s BFF and she has decided to up sticks and move to Bayside to be beside her and work in the resort doing yoga classes. Emery and Dean became close after Desiree’s wedding and both of them have been talking for months late into the night getting closer and closer with each call. Emery sees Dean as her BFF as well and is so comfortable around him that makes the chemistry even stronger. Dean would love nothing more than to show her what a relationship with him could be like, but she is reluctant as she always ruins her previous ones and doesn’t want to cross that line with Dean for fear of losing their friendship at the same time.
Will she give Dean a chance and let him show her how good they can be together? Or will she ruin it before things get off the ground?
This is yet another great addition to Melissa’s book universe and I can’t wait to read the next book in the Bayside Summers Series.
4.25 stars–BAYSIDE PASSIONS is the second instalment in Melissa Fosters’ contemporary, adult BAYSIDE SUMMERS romance series. This is yoga instructor Emery Andrews, and landscaper Dean Masters’ story line. BAYSIDE PASSIONS, and subsequently BAYSIDE SUMMERS is another one of Melissa Foster’s spin off series from both the Love in Bloom and Seaside Summers series but can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Several characters and couples cross over for cohesion and familiarity.
Told form dual third person perspectives (Emery and Dean) BAYSIDE PASSIONS is a friends to lovers story line that follows the building relationship between yoga instructor and back-care specialist Emery Andrews, and landscaper Dean Masters. Months earlier our couple met during the Christmas holiday engagement party of mutual friends Rick Savage and Desiree Cleary (Bayside Desires #1). With Emery’s return home to Oak Falls Virginia, our leading couple pursued a long distance friendship through emails, Skyping and text. Fast forward to present day wherein Emery will accept an invitation to teach yoga at the Inn in Wellfleet Massachusetts where she will come face to face with her future and the man with whom she is falling in love. Enter Dean Masters, landscaper, gardener and Rick Savage’s business partner. What ensues is the growing love between Dean and Emery, and the potential fall out when the Masters’ dysfunctional family dynamics threaten any semblance of balance between Emery and Dean.
Melissa Foster pulls the reader into a sexy and smooth flowing story of family and friendship; balance and harmony; bitter memories and letting go of the past. BAYSIDE PASSIONS revisits old friends, welcomes newcomers and follows a relationship where anything is possible including the breaking down of barriers and preconceived notions about one man who struggles to be everything and more.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters many of whom we have met in previous story lines. We welcome the return of Rick and Desiree (Bayside Desires), Rick’s brother and Dean’s best friend Drake Savage, resort manager Serena Mallery, Desiree’s half-sister Violet, and Jana, Harper and Sky. The reader is introduced to Dean’s brothers Jett Masters, as well as their parents Dr. Douglas and Sherry Masters, nursing home residents Rose, Arlin and Magdeline, and nursing home administrator and Serena’s sister Chloe Mallery. Drake and Serena’s story line is next in BAYSIDE HEAT.
BAYSIDE PASSIONS is a spirited storyline with sassy characters, sexy innuendo, and great back and forth banter between lovers and friends. The premise is lively, delightful and captivating; the romance is passionate and seductive; the characters are engaging and fun. Melissa Foster writes stories that resonate from the heart.
Well, Melissa Foster has made me fall in love yet again! Bayside Passions is definitely the perfect title for this book. The passion that simmers between Emery and Dean kept me turning the pages until I was unfortunately at the end of the book! I didn’t want to say good-bye to them.
Emery blew into Dean’s life last Christmas, and the two became fast friends texting and talking when she returned home. Emery doesn’t know it, but Dean feels a lot more than friendship for her. She has sworn off dating friends, and Dean is afraid he may always be relegated to that role. One of the things I love about him is he doesn’t give up when faced with a challenge, and when he decides he is going to show Emery how good they could be together, she better watch out! These two have got chemistry!!!! As determined as Dean is, they will face some obstacles before they can find their HEA.
Dean is absolute perfection. He is sexy, confident, and goes after what he wants. He is strong, but underneath that tough exterior lies a heart of gold. He takes care in everything he does. He owns his own landscaping business and works in a garden with the elderly residents of an assisted living facility. What is there not to love about him? Too bad his father has a hard time seeing that constantly pushing him to be a doctor, not being proud of who he is as a human being. He brings a calmness and stability to Emery.
Emery is a free spirit. She is spontaneous, and full of light. When she enters a room, she has an aura that changes everyone and everything around her. Foster makes her personality leap from the pages of the book. She brings that light and life to Dean’s life. On the flip side, she is also afraid of commitment. Her parents separated when she was young, and she thinks something inside of her is broken. Thankfully, Dean is there to show her she isn’t broken, and he is the one to make her feel whole again. These two are perfectly suited to one another.
As with the other books I have read by Melissa Foster, there are always other themes running through her books…family and friendship. This one is no different. Bayside Passions is also about forgiveness and second chances. She writes so beautifully, that I find myself right there in the story with her characters and on the wonderful Cape. As always, I’m looking forward to returning!
Have you ever met someone & just clicked? You felt like you had known the other person your entire life? Everything was so easy that you just knew something was going to go wrong? This is the feeling that Bayside Passions brought to my mind. Emery & Dean met & just fell into friendship & a relationship. That’s sounds so easy & it really wasn’t but you get the idea. They met at a wedding & clicked. Then they carried on a long distance friendship for months. Late night phone calls & texting sessions enabled them to get to know each other without anything else getting in the way. Now that Emery has moved to the Cape, can they move beyond friendship or will something happen to derail the relationship?
This was truly a “happy” book. Emery’s character is open, friendly & bubbly – exactly the way you’d expect a yoga instructor to be. Dean is built. Strange thing for me to fixate on but what can I say. He’s also patient, sensitive & sexy. What I really loved was the way the author showed that they truly were better people together. He helped her to calm down & be a little less chaotic. He also pushed her to the career he knew she loved but was afraid to pursue. She helped him to smile! She also helped him to be less serious & introspective. This was another great story to add to the Bayside group but can easily be a stand alone.
5 Star Review of Bayside Passions (Bayside Summers #2) by Melissa Foster
Having already read several books by Melissa Foster I was ready to dive in to a new series.
I particularly enjoy friends to lovers stories and this one did not disappoint. This is the story of Emery Andrews and Dean Masters and if I am being truthful, I would love a man like Dean in my life; he ticked so many boxes and I was drawn to him from the start, totally swoon worthy.
When Emery decides to take the plunge and move to Cape Cod to work at her friend Desiree’s resort, she knows that she will be surrounded by good friends. What she doesn’t know is that Dean is hoping that he can convince her that he is the man for her. In fact Emery is totally blind to what everyone else can see where Dean is concerned.
Bayside Passions is a story of friendships, humour, romance and overall is a heart warming book that will make you smile, feel good and is one I highly recommend.
Ms. Foster wove a tale that kept me captivated from the first page until the last. I will most certainly be keeping my eye out for the next book in the series as I anxiously wait to find out who is next in the series.
This is Book 2 in the Bayside Summers Series and we are back in Cape Cod for Dean and Emery’s story, this may be book 2 but I feel it could be read as a stand-alone and if you love friends to lovers you will want to one click Bayside Passions.
Emery and Dean have been friends for a while but that’s not what Dean want he wants more but Emery is an expert at keeping men at arms length but will she be able to keep up the pretence oh only wanting to be friends when she is finds herself living in close proximity to Dean.
This is a very sweet romantic love story, it’s what I call my holiday reads, I love this author and her loveable characters and her descriptions of the towns her stories take place in leave me wanting to jump on the next plane . Looking forward to more in this series
Melissa Foster’s Bayside Passion is a well-paced, sensuous novel which features landscaper Dean Masters and yoga teacher Emery Andrews. The sexual chemistry between the couple is apparent in the first few pages of the novel. Melissa Foster’s descriptive voice and her fun, fresh dialogue bring these characters and their unique friends- to-lovers romance to life.
Emery and Dean met when she visited the Cape at Christmas. They kept in touch with each other daily via text, Facetime or by talking on the phone. I enjoyed this modern day version of long distance friendship. The references to the texts and conversations enabled the reader to understand the depth of Dean and Emery’s friendship and this story technique moved the couple from friends to lovers.
Emily Andrews realizes she needs to make changes in her both her personal and professional life. She realizes that the impact of the failed relationship with her former boss and a non-compete clause in her contract means that she needs a fresh start. She decides to move from Virginia to Massachusetts to be closer to her friends Desiree Cleary and Dean Masters. Emery is a fun character-she’s flirty, outgoing and a true free spirit—the exact opposite of the calm, thoughtful, serious Dean.
Dean Masters is one of my favorite Melissa Foster heroes. He’s a former trauma nurse who made a tough decision to leave the medical field which angered his father. Dean understands Emery; her quirky behavior, her caring, compassionate side and her devotion to the healing aspect of her work. He accepts Emery and doesn’t want to change her. I loved the many ways he showed her that he loved her during the novel. This good, caring, sentimental man stole my heart.
I enjoyed reading how the characters grew during the novel. Dean understood Emery’s decision not to date employers or that she wasn’t comfortable with traditional dating. He solved the first problem by firing her and his well thought out ‘example outings’ with Emery were untraditional but just perfect for them! One of my favorite parts of the novel is when Emery decides to cleanse the bad feelings and conflict from the cottage after meeting Dean’s arrogant, judgmental father. Emery’s unique way of showing her support for Dean was heartfelt, humorous and very sexy from Dean’s viewpoint.
Bayside Passions is the perfect read for a cold winter night. The chemistry between the characters who begin the story as friends is off the charts. The secondary characters of Rick, Drake, Desiree and Rose all add to the depth of the story. Emery and Dean’s friendship takes a few unexpected turns but their love story made for an excellent read.
Sweet and sexy with an engaging cast of characters. It’s an inviting read with a swoon worthy hero. Truly wonderful!
Wow! I love this book so much!! This is a such a sweet love story. Just when I think Melissa Foster can’t possibly come up with a hunkier, sexier, sweeter hero, she somehow does. And the cover of this book, this is Dean all the way!!
Dean Masters is a beautiful man inside and out and Emery Andrews has friend zoned him. They have spent months getting to know each other from a distance until Emery moves to Wellfleet. Now they have to face their growing feelings head on but can they get past Emery’s hesitation to move out of the friend zone despite how she feels about Dean?
This story is full of fun, hotness, laughs, sexiness, romance and best of all heart. A lot of heart. I loved everything about this story and this couple! This new group in Bayside is so special!!! Can’t wait for more! This is a must read for romance fans!
I wish I had more stars to give!
The beauty of Melissa Foster as an author is that readers get to experience the many sides of her personality through the stories she tells. The Bayside Summers series is less intense, but no less riveting. Dean and Emery are a breath of fresh air with their flirty banter and budding friendship. However, Bayside Passions is a Melissa Foster novel. Underneath the breeze lies a few gusts. There will be patches of rain that will darken the canvas, but in the end the storm clouds make it worth the ride.
