FORD
There are three things Ford Garrison wants more than anything: to build, to report to no one, and the chance to live his life without the prying eyes of the good folks of Eagle’s Ridge. Having spent ten years in the Navy as part of their construction battalion, he was able to live out most of that dream. Two out three wasn’t bad, right? Now that he’s out of the service, things aren’t falling into place quite as easily as he hoped and he ends up back home with all eyes on him.
It wasn’t as if Callie had gone out of her way to end up in Ford’s path, but somehow that happened all on its own and the town gossips were having a field day! Could she help it that she was living in the house Ford had hoped to claim as his own or that the work on his grandmother’s ranch meant they were living not fifty-feet away from each other?
Ford was determined to come home, do a job to help his grandmother and leave. Callie James is a distraction and she represents everything he has spent years running away from. Now he’s at odds with his friends, his family and himself about where his home and future are going to be.
Could he walk away from Eagle’s Ridge a second time?

Fabulous!! This story is engaging, heartwarming and sexy! Ford has come home because he Grams needs him and he would do anything to make his Grandmother happy. BUT, he is not happy about it and can’t wait to leave again. Callie is a tenant living on his Grandmother’s property and has had a crush on Ford most of her life. It was so easy to emphasize with Ford and his predicament and my heart broke for him when he realized his Grandfather had always been on his side even though circumstances didn’t look like it. Callie is awesome. Her understanding and acceptance of Ford’s situation tugged on my heart. I really LOVED this story!! Highly recommended if your looking for great romance with characters you can relate to.
Loved the story and all the characters. Callie and Ford have known each other for years and Callie has had a crush on Ford since she was fourteen. Now Ford is back after his beloved grandmother’s fall. Their story is sweet and a bit heart wrenching but, it has a happy ending at Christmas that’s the best.
Ford (7 Brides for 7 Soldiers #7) by Samantha Chase …This was the final book in the series and it was as good as the rest. Family, friends, hard decisions, some steam, laughter and tears all getting to a very HEA.
Great Story
This is the last story in the series and each brought love, friendship, and healing to seven guys who were either related to each other or became friends in detention. But Ford was the last hold out and coming home when his grandma broke her help made him stop and really think of coming home for good. Callie was a elementary school teacher and was staying in the cottage on Ford’s grandparents ranch. But she has had a thing for Ford. Can they work on a relationship.
Ford annoyed me to no end and yet there were things I really liked about him. He was whiny and a jerk. He was committed and loyal. The best part of Ford was his friends and how it took them to get him to see how they had his back. They also showed him what a jerk he was. I really liked Callie, she is smart, patient and loyal. The way Callie and Ford come together is pretty funny. This was very steamy. I really enjoyed this book.
This story had all those little touches everyone loves in a romance journey … A dash of sweet. A sprinkle of warmth. A dusting of laughter. And a good dose of heart! I love when all these ingredients are woven together into a journey and cocooned with lots of love!
This story wasn’t just about a romance journey. There’s a lot of individual growth happening here and it made for the HEA so much more appealing. I not only was rooting for Ford & Callie as a couple, but I was rooting even louder for Ford himself. The man carried serious burdens on his shoulders and he not only needed to realize it, but he also needed to learn how to let go and live …. Such a sweet and poignant story you guys!
I do have to say one thing that is not really a big deal, but it’s a thing with me .. this cover. It does nothing. It doesn’t add nor does it subtract from the overall package and I am a 100% believer that covers should add. It’s just plain. But the story is not … it’s anything BUT plain. Anywho, the cover is not a win for me but I also wouldn’t put it in the loss column either …. like I said, it’s a just a thing with me 🙂
I was given the book Ford written by Samantha Chase by a friend. I’ve never read her before and being that it was written about a soldier didn’t hurt, always a favorite of mine. Even though this book is #7 of 7 in the Series 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers can totally be read as a stand-alone. However, now that I’ve had a glimpse, I know that I’ll be going back to read the others. This story is one that grabs you right from page one and keeps you turning the page. You will have laugh out loud moments along with sweet moments. Samantha Chase did a great job of telling the story of Ford’s reluctance to return home and showing how relationships with friends were pulling him back there. I really love how Samantha creates characters that are so life like and realistic. The situations we’re realistic, and believable. I loved the small town setting. I think that all these are what made this book so enjoyable for me to read. I definitely will read more of her books.
Ford and Callie were both born and raised in the small town of Eagle’s Ridge. While Callie stayed and couldn’t possibly imagine living anywhere else, Ford joined the Navy and left as soon as he could. Not even his close relationship with his Grandparents or his six friends could keep him in the suffocating town.
Now it’s ten years later. Ford is living across the country in Virginia – just kind of existing. Ford’s Gramps has died, Grams house (the ranch) has suffered major damage in a storm and she has been injured and in the hospital. Ford has returned to Eagle’s Ridge to repair the house and it seems fate has a change of plans in store for his future!
I love the relationship between Callie and Ford. They came together effortlessly, no drama, no fights – just unconditional love and no expectations. Although Ford was a bit moody and closed off through most of the story, I think it made the ending all that sweeter – definitely taking Callie by surprise in the best way! The scene with the Christmas Pageant melted my heart! What a great happily-ever-after!
I really enjoyed reading this book!
It is a heartwarming & emotional story. Ford loves to build, his privacy
& where he wants to live. Ford is back in Eagle’s Ridge to help his grandmother. Part of her home
was damaged in a storm, with her getting hurt in the middle of it all. His first priority is to make the ranch safe for his grandmother to come home too. Arriving late one night, Ford knew he wouldn’t be able to stay in the house, so he went to the guest house to crash. But Ford never expected to find the bed occupied.
Callie has known the Garrison family since she was little. Ford knows her, but doesn’t really remember Callie.
As he begins construction,
Callie feeds him & his seven best friends help out with the repairs.
As Callie & Ford get to know one another, their chemistry is undeniable. But his goal is to fixing the house, is get back to his job & home. When Ford learns of a secret from
his grandfather’s will, he realized he has a lot of thinking to do.
Maybe you can come home…
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I wasn’t disappointed! It was a well written, interesting story, about a elementary school teacher and a former soldier, brought together by an injury to the soldier’s grandmother.
Ford and Callie knew each other as children, grew up together. Reintroduced as adults by circumstances, this is a sweet love story that brings out feelings of happiness and family. Throughout the story, there are plenty of surprises to keep the reader interested, and the relationship between Callie and Ford is really a beautiful example of a mutually respectful relationship. The way Ford treats Callie, just brings out the feels!
This is part of a series, and there are references to characters from previous books, but you do not have to read the other books to be able to keep up. However, I’m sure reading the other stories in the series will just add that much more to the experience.

Ford is book 7 in the 7 Brides for 7 Soldier Series. Each book in the series has been written by a different author. What I find so amazing as that you would never know that. Each book links with the other books seamlessly. I do think this can be a stand alone but I do think you’ll better a better appreciation for the series as a whole if you read the books in order.
Ford has no intentions of ever living in Eagle Ridge again. Having grown up there he knew that there is no such thing as privacy. Everyone knows everything about everyone. He’s a very private person. He’s back in town temporarily repairing his grandmother’s house after a tree fell on it.
Callie also grew up in Eagle Ridge but has no intentions of leaving. Her mother cleaned Ford’s Grandmother’s house while she was growing up. She’s always had a crush on Ford. She is now a kindergarden teacher living in the little cottage that is on his Grandmother’s property.
What I really like about this series is that each book is a continuation of these 7 soldiers lives. We get to follow along as they live their lives. Almost like we’re one of the towns people.
Due to their close proximity Callie and Ford form a friendship that builds into something more intense. Ford has made it very clear that there is no future for them and Callie is a strong enough lady that she doesn’t attempt to attach any strings.
As Ford friend’s like to point out to him ‘for someone who never wanted to come back to Eagle Ridge you sure are here a long’. Which is true, he doesn’t meet any gatherings or celebrations.
I really love that we got to revisit with Ford as he grew up learning his contruction trade from his grandfather. His grandfather taught him valuables lessons while teaching him a love for the wood.
To me him building Callie a dollhouse when she was 10 and for her to still have it now was their lives coming full circle. What was meant to be.
What I really love about how Samantha writes is that there always seems to be an extra warmth to her books.
5 HEARTWARMING STARS!! Fantastic story in this 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers series, I could not put this book down. I loved Ford and Callie’s story it was so heartwarming, sweet and perfectly written. Samantha Chase is the word whisperer she sucks you into the story with a smile and you never want the story to end. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Samantha has such a way of bringing the heart and soul into her characters bringing them to life. Ford and Callie find healing where they should, even when they didn’t know they needed it. Love the heart and healing.
FORD by Samantha Young is the seventh and final instalment in the multi-authored 7 BRIDES FOR 7 SOLDIERS romance novella series focusing on 7 former military heroes (family and friends) who return to their home town of Eagle’s Ridge. This is thirty year old Navy sailor and carpenter Ford Garrison, and twenty six year old kindergarten teacher Callie James’ story line. FORD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Some of the characters cross over between story lines and authors.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Ford and Callie) FORD looks at the building relationship between Ford Garrison, and Callie James. When Ford got the call that his beloved eighty-eight year grandmother’s house had been damaged in a recent storm our hero returns home to discover that the once feisty woman now lay injured in the hospital with less than happy prospects for a return to her once independent lifestyle and way of living; and a childhood acquaintance is currently renting the cottage on the family owned property. Enter Callie James, Eagle’s Ridge newest kindergarten teacher and the woman with whom Ford will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance between Callie and Ford, and the potential fall-out as Ford finds himself trapped between family obligations, and his need to run from everything Eagle’s Ridge represents-both past and present including the small town gossip, and never quite meeting the expectations of his otherwise successful parents and kin, in this Ford’s attitude is a bit disconcerting; the maturity level is questionable as he struggles to accept what is and what could be.
Ford Garrison had no idea what his grandparents had in store for his future but returning to Eagle’s Ridge our hero discovered more than he could have ever imagined including the knowledge that his heart truly belonged in the town in which he grew up. Callie James has had a crush on Ford for as long as she can remember but Ford’s need to escape the small town mentality and busybodies of Eagle’s Ridge meant there was an expiry date on their growing love-a love Callie knew was about to break her heart. As Ford struggles between head and heart, Callie begins to pull back fearing the loss of the man that she loves. The $ex scenes fade to black or are mostly implied.
All of the previous 7 BRIDES FOR 7 SOLIDERS story line ‘heroes’ make a cameo appearance or play a secondary and supporting roles. We are introduced to Ford’s beloved grandparents Ben and Margaret Garrison, his parents as well as Callie’s mother Ruthie James.
FORD is a story of family and friendship; expectations and revelations; falling in love and letting go of the past. The premise is heart warming; the characters are colorful and dynamic; the romance is passionate.
I loved reading Ford by Samantha Chase, the seventh and last book in the 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers series. Ford Garrison learned to build things from his grandfather while growing up in Eagle’s Ridge. While growing up he disliked being under the prying eyes of the people of his town which is why after leaving the Navy he moved across the country from his family. Ford was determined to return home after his grandmother broke her hip and to repair her house. Callie James didn’t try to end up in Ford’s way, but it happened and the town gossips are having the time of their lives. Renting the cottage on his grandmother’s land had Callie living too close for Ford to forget the beautiful kindergarten teacher. Ford needed to decide where his home and future would be and if Callie played a role in that decision.
I loved how in sync these two were. Callie knew not to push Ford to choose but to let him make his own decisions on his time. Ford has much to decide learning about decisions that affected his life that he didn’t know, or realize, before this visit. Callie helped him see where he belonged and what he really wanted.
Ms. Chase is a wonderful story teller, making me feel as if I was right there and making me want to spend time in Eagle’s Ridge. Her books draw me in, making me forget the world around me. I highly recommend this book to other readers and am sad that this series is completed.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Ford comes back to Eagle’s Ridge to help his injured grandmother. With his grandfather gone and his grandparents house not looking very good he feels a profound sense of loss. Ford has never come back home for any extended period of time. Callie is elementary school teacher who had a major crush on Ford. Ford wants to renovate the house in a way that would make his grandfather proud. Ford wants to be his own man. He is loner and likes his privacy. Callie is a shining light to his pessimistic view of the world. Ford is drawn to Callie like a magnet . My favorite part of book was when Ford realizes Callie loves him unconditionally. And that he can stay in Eagle’s Ridge and put his own stamp on his grandfathers company. It was a joy watching Callie bring Ford into her sunlight.
Samantha Chase continues to showcase what a treasure she really is. Ford is realistic, simplistic and complicated. It’s amazing that a subject that is so simple can breed so many complicated emotions. Ford has spent his life running. From home, from responsibility and mostly from himself. Callie has spent her life wishing for a place to belong to. A home of her own, people who love her and a life that makes her happy. Ironic isn’t it that both were searching for the same thing. Acceptance. A place to belong. A sense of security. Each was searching for something they always had, but failed to realize. A HOME. Ford is an epiphany moment. The manifestation of something special and the realization of something wonderful.
Fifteen years ago, seven young men were sentenced to detention together. They managed to forge a bond that has kept them close as they have left Eagle’s Ridge to live their lives. One by one, they have been pulled back to their hometown & established their future. Ford is fighting this with every measure of his being. He is determined that he can never live where everyone knows everything he does & how he lives. Now, in a storm, a tree has crashed down on his grandmother’s house & she has been injured. Ford promised her that he’d come home & oversee the repairs. He’s already antsy & ready to leave, or so he thinks. But what’s he going to do about the ranch & his grandfather’s construction company?
Callie grew up with very little. Her mother worked several jobs so that they could get by. One job was cleaning houses, including Ford’s grandparents. Callie had a crush on Ford throughout her teenage years. Now she is teaching kindergarteners & living in the guesthouse at the ranch. While Ford has been back, they’ve developed a friendship. Can Callie keep her feelings from getting stronger?
I love the connection that was established between Callie & Ford years before with the dollhouse & how it helps reestablish their relationship in some ways. The characters are fully developed & the interactions between the 7 men makes it clear how close their relationships have remained. Those interactions provided a number of hilarious moments in the book. The feelings come across that remind you of a family, not by blood but by experience & similar goals. This was another wonderful book in the series & well worth the money & time to read it.
