Mysterious, romantic, and sprinkled with a few heartwarming students and a delightful dog, LETTERS, LOVERS, & LIES captures the importance of persistence and the power of love. Jake and Lindsey are in love, but so much stands in their way. Letters from a dead man. Unwanted advances from a transgender acquaintance. Separation and jealousy. A few things in the couple’s favor? They are smart, … multi-talented, and they love to laugh.
Lindsey Lark, keynote speaker, goes on tour while her boyfriend, Jake, writes a detective novel. Sounds simple enough, but a mystery soon dominates their lives when bizarre notices of her ex-husband’s funeral arrive. Foul play is suspected and murder is on someone’s mind.
Lad, a retired Secret Service agent, is Lindsey’s right-hand man for the duration of the tour. He’s handsome, he’s a man of few words, and, as the list of threats lengthens, he takes on the role of bodyguard, much to Jake’s dismay.
“Cozy mystery lovers and romantic drama buffs will enjoy the twists and turns as Jake and Lindsey rush to solve their personal whodunit before it’s too late.”
—John Reinhard Dizon, author of The Nightcrawler Series

I am still so glad I feel compelled to read series in order and I highly recommend it for this story. Cricket Rohman gives us the perfect blend of romance(s), humor, mysteries and interesting characters. Lindsey is a little too trusting. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and wonder what awaits Lindsey.
This book by Cricket Rohman is different from the others I have read but it is fantastic! Jake and Lindsey’s story has it all – romance, suspense and mystery. It is a real page turner that sometimes has you on the edge of your seat. I couldn’t solve the mystery, but go ahead and read it to see if you can!
I received a copy of this book from BookSprout, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
Engaging characters that are well developed, easy to get to know and have undeniable chemistry. The story line captures your attention and pulls you in. A great read for a weekend with your toes in the sand sitting at the beach or curled up on the front porch swing.

A fabulous read with mystery, suspense, romance, and incredible characters that kept me totally glued to the book from the first word to the last. I enjoyed kindergarten teacher Lindsay Lark who becomes the National Innovative Teacher of the Year and loved her undeniable attraction and chemistry with Jake Lee who works several jobs while researching information for his Phd thesis. The secondary characters also added so much for my reading pleasure. I received an advance reader copy of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I enjoyed most of this romantic suspense. This is a mostly clean read if you don’t mind sex talk and sex outside of marriage. The suspense in this book was very well done. I was guessing who was behind it all until the very end. The characters were all very good and I enjoyed getting to know them as well.

Lindsey is a kindergarten teacher who grew up in the foster care system. She’s starting a new career developing curriculum and training teachers and speaking at conferences.
Her beau Jake has recently moved in with her and their bird and mastiff
Lindsey seems to have some serious trust issues- unsurprising since her ex left her for in transition Sean/ Shawna. Lindsey is a little overboard with lack of trust with Jake though
Can they work their way past the craziness that seems to be hunting them? Or is Lindsey in love with a new co-worker? Did Jake fall for her still smitten with him friend?
Intrigue, drama and psychological thriller with unexpected heroes

This is the 2nd in a series but it can be a stand alone because I did not read the 1st one. I really enjoyed the characters in this book. They are fun, enjoyable and sometimes scary. This story keeps you engaged and guessing what will happen and who is involved. I do recommend this book and think you will enjoy it and keep you engaged.
This is actually a 2016(!) GoodReads win from the author. I am just kicking myself for not reading it sooner.[as an aside, I am also in the middle of the first ebook in the series]
Lindsey Lark, teacher extraordinaire, has taken a sabbatical from her teaching position to promote herself and her teaching methods through a Professional Education Program who was helping her develop her school program integrating many aspects connecting together that won her an Innovative Teacher Award.
An elementary teacher by trade, Lindsey’s a bit overwhelmed by all the accolades she’s gotten. Newly divorced, her personal life is non-existent, but changing as she begins a relationship with Jake Lee, a psychology PhD candidate, and things seem good enough that she’s let go of the past and begun looking forward… until a series of cryptic and angry issues pull her back into the strange world of her ex husband, starting with an “invitation” to his funeral(?)
Dealing with the past, cryptic as it is/was is both frightening and unbelievable as Lindsey and Jake discover bizarre clues to her ex’s death, that might actually lead to her own….
This is a fresh kind of mystery and very enjoyable. I am looking forward to finishing Book 1 and saving my pennies for book three. Cricket Rodman is an author to watch for. Highly recommended 5/5
This is book two of The Lindsey Lark series and sees Lindsey Sommerfield nee Lark, starting off on her sabbatical year, as part of her winning the National Innovative Teacher of the Year competition. She is the keynote speaker at a series of conferences where she will show teachers how to use her Art Journal technique with their class and all the different ways it can spark interaction from the children. Her boyfriend Jake moved in with her just a few weeks ago and they share a huge mastiff called Wendell and a bird of some kind called Malcolm. Jake has put his PhD on hold as he pursues the chance to try and write a detective novel, but also works as a part time bartender. When Lindsey leaves for her first conference, she promises to call him to let him know when she gets there, to say she is safe. Only she gets so tied up with her handsome personal bodyguard/personal assistant L.A.D., who never leaves her alone and all the details she needs to know, that she falls asleep without calling Jake. She doesn’t even reply to his calls and messages for days!
To say Jake is a bit peeved, is almost redundant. Lindsay has a lot to make up for! Lad rarely says much to her, but is always at her side. When word of her ex-husband Anthony’s death is sent out, in shall we say, some rather odd methods, she and Jake attend the funeral. That in itself is very weird, with a small box with cremated remains, put in a grave big enough for at least five people! Jake starts to be a bit suspicious about Anthony’s death and Lindsey gets a few strange letters and items left in her hotel room. Jake uses the mystery as a push for his writing of his detective novel, although the plot starts to thicken with word of suicide or foul play being suspected. Lad’s behaviour seems to cross a lot more personal space boundaries than you would imagine someone in a committed relationship would ever alone, let alone not even question! You find out later on, that he was apparently a Secret Service agent, but left under a cloud, but what he is doing working as a personal assistant for the keynote speaker at the conferences is only revealed at the end. His actions went over the top, see the bath scene, but Lindsey was just as much at fault for her inaction and lack of contact and belief in her boyfriend Jake.
Lots of strange stuff goes on in the storyline and we find out that Lindsey’s husband left her for a transsexual stripper called Shawna, but goes crazy when he realises what Shawna really is! Jake’s own sister ends up as the psychiatrist to Shawna/Sean, which brings about some weird confrontations. What should have been a romantic get together at the end of one of her conferences, brings danger to many and a final revelation of who is behind all the strange communications. Lindsey has to make a decision about her relationship as well as where her career will go when her sabbatical ends. Some disturbing, but realistic examples of child abuse are part of the story, so beware if this might be a trigger. A slow story with some even stranger behaviours on display, that I found a bit disturbing. It took me ages to get through the story and I had quickly worked out who was behind the finale event. I did like the educational parts of the story and how Lindsey connected with children and had their safety always at the top of her mind. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
