Aww, guys, I loved this series! I love Erik and Reuben and wee Jack, This was such a brilliant read, I will definitely be reading more by K.A. Merikan.
I very much enjoyed reading about and most definitely learning about different kinks!
This book tied the series up perfectly and I am happy for everyone who got their HEA (and sad for those who didn’t).
REUBEN – Once again Reuben shows us just how pure his heart is. Even when he’s been betrayed he still loves purely. What a beautiful soul.
So yeah, he finds out what Erik has been hiding from him and it shocks and hurts him to his core. The book starts out with violence and mayhem this time and you are anxious about what’s going to become of everyone you’ve come to love.
In Reuben’s innocence, he is hopeful that it’s all just a misunderstanding and it will all go back to how it was before but, as the story unfolds he starts to realize that it can never go back to that and he’s terrified, hurt and confused.
Things get even worse for Reuben and Erik when they run into his father and they end up turning to people you would never have guessed they would.
I loved getting to know some of these characters better!
ERIK – I’m just going to admit it now. I’m totally crushing on Erik right now. It’s hard not to feel drawn to a man who knows what he wants and is not ashamed to show it. A man who, when shit hits the fan, he holds his head high and says “Is that all you’ve got?”
Erik’s life is utterly torn apart and for being a man who has never even seen how the other side lives, he deals with it quite well when he’s thrown into that world, lol.
We see more of Erik’s character in the third book and find out that his upbringing wasn’t what you might have imagined and his mother is…well a cold bitch really.
SEX SCENES – Even in the middle of the zombie outbreak, a revolution and friends and family turning on them, Reuben and Erik still manage to have some sizzling sex y’all!
I loved it, it was so much fun and it was also my first introduction to pony play!
FINAL THOUGHTS – I really enjoyed this series. Especially the final book where people’s true character came out. It was so intense. Full of action and much more zombie fighting this time!
4.5 Stars
Continuing in the timeline without interruption, Reuben Wark and Erik Dal are on the run and must learn how to adapt in their new status. Though they each bring certain skills of survival, Eric deems it his duty to take care of his prized charge. While trying to stay hidden, they find shelter and continue to strengthen the bond of Master and pony.
Together, Copper and Erik are quite charming together at times in their devotion. Even with Erik’s hurtful omissions and lawless actions, Reuben only has eyes for Erik and finds purpose in his servitude. After reading Pride, I thought it was going to be hard for these authors to top certain role-play scenes, but they certainly did so. This particular scene that happened to also include Lord Satan will be forever etched in my mind.
Getting immersed in this storyline is effortless as Rueben and Erik are such intriguing characters. I continually rooted for Reuben and hoped he would find complete satisfaction and acceptance in Copper’s role. As for Erik, he is quite capable and I liked how he doesn’t apologize for his affinity for kinkery. Closing out this trilogy, the end felt a tad abrupt considering the lead-in, but I enjoyed the journey.
Love will appeal to those looking for an erotic and character driven story.
