OMG my feels! Pamela Clare did it again. I loved Falling Hard. Every single minute of it. Colorado High Country the series has been a total hit for me. I have loved every single book in this series. And while Eric and Victoria are my favorite couple of the series, Jesse and Ellie come in a very close second. This book had everything you could want in a romance. Sexy abs…Check. Sexy fantasy role playing…. Check. Adorable 3 year old twins….. Double Check!
Ellie had a rough past. Her husband died in Iraq when she was 4 months pregnant with their twins. Ellie did her best to raise her babies as a single mom but she hadn’t really moved on from losing her beloved husband until she met Jesse. What I really liked was that Ellie loved both her dead husband and Jesse. Sometimes when I read widow books the widow either didn’t really love their dead spouse or they loved them so much that the dead spouse is like a ghost that haunts the new relationship making me feel like the new person was second place. In Falling Hard I never felt like Jesse was second but I still felt like Ellie had a real love with her dead husband. A respectable love and then she moved on with an equally strong love for Jesse. It was a nice balance.
Jesse was so sexy and yummy and God I loved him! Former Army Ranger, Rocky mountain search and rescue team member, toddler whisperer, and just all around sexy beast Jesse had it all. I loved the way he was with the twins. I loved how protective he was. He was so heroic always trying to save everyone. Jesse had a rough life and some scars but they just added to his depth and gave him that sexy damage bad boy edge. There was nothing about Jesse I would change!
Jesse and Ellie had an instant strong connection, lots of lust, but their love had a nice build to it. I loved that even though in the start of their relationship he felt a little jealous of Dan(Ellie’s dead husband) he never let it show. He didn’t act petty or try to replace Dan. Ellie never made me feel like Jesse was second place in her life or the twins. Although I did wish she would have taken off her wedding ring a little sooner. This book brought out a lot of emotions. I could feel Ellie’s pain from the lost of her first love. The struggle she had to raise the twins when their dad never even got to meet them. I could feel the guilt Jesse felt when he couldn’t save someone. His fear that his baggage would hurt Ellie and the twins. His love for her and the twins. Everything felt raw, real and just jumped off the pages making me tear up a few times. I also really enjoyed getting to catch up with the beloved couples from the past books. Seeing Lexi and Taylor are starting a family, know how strong Vic and Eric’s love still is. Overall I loved this book. I love this series and I love me some Pamela Clare. I can’t wait to see who’s book is next. I am hoping for Chaska Belcourt’s book!!!
I fell hard for Jesse and Ellie in Falling Hard. Jesse is a former Army Ranger and a member of the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team. Ellie is his beautiful neighbor, an RN who is a widow of a deceased veteran, who has adorable twins, Daniel and Daisy. Jesse and Ellie have been neighbors for years before they’re finally introduced one night when one of the twins is sick and Ellie has been out buying medicine for him. Jesse comes to the rescue when her car won’t start.
As their relationship evolves from simply being neighbors to lovers, emotions run high and they bare more than their bodies to each other. Jesse, especially, has a lot of demons. He carries a lot of guilt from his childhood that has driven him to become a rescuer, a guardian and a savior. It’s also what drives him to an adrenaline-fueled career. Yet it’s a career that Ellie fears because she’s already lost one husband to a dangerous career, she has no desire to lose another love to it. But, she simply cannot help herself from falling for the strong, silent man she finds in Jesse. How can she help falling for him? He’s kind, and beautiful and that same guilt that drives him to adrenaline fueled activities, also drives him to rescue her precious daughter one night when she falls into a frigid reservoir. He puts his own life on the line to rescue Daisy, and yet he feels so unworthy of thanks, of a hero’s well earned congratulations and praise.
I absolutely love Jesse and Ellie together. Jesse, in particular, is such a beautiful soul, that I can’t remember the last time I loved a hero more. He and Ellie have such a strong bond, it’s so emotionally and physically intense, and they’re both such amazing people. I love them together and the cast of people who surround them. Kudos to Pamela Clare for this amazing story!
Pamela Clare hit the jackpot with the Rocky Mountain Search and rescue group. This story is realistic, it does not sugar coat what a vet returning from Iraq goes through to find happiness, yet it allows for enough happily ever after to keep it interesting. I only hope it can be true for our returning soldiers. Another home run for Ms. Clare. Don’t miss it!
This is a series that I’ve really enjoyed. I wish the author would do another series like this. Not that her suspense isn’t good, it’s just that I liked the straight contemporary more.
Falling Hard is the third book in her Colorado High Country. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this one. I’m always a fan of romances with kids in them. They can really help to make for a good story. Kids bring reality to it.
This one starts off so good. Ellie is working really hard to take care of herself and her kids after her husband passes. She’s a strong woman who feels she’s loved deeply once and can’t see herself falling in love again.
Jesse is a great guy. You won’t be able to not fall in love with him. He’s such a great hero. Even though he wants nothing really to do with Ellie he can’t help stepping in when she’s at her lowest. She’s got too sick kids and needs help. He’s there to help him even when she warns him he could get sick. He says he will be fine.
What do you think will happen?
I love how these two interact with each other. I also love how he treats Ellie’s kids. He really cares about them and you can see it in every action he does with them. All of them would make for a perfect family if Jess could learn to deal with his past. He’s letting it hold him back from what he deserves.
This is a wonderful story that you’ll just love. I found myself at times laughing and crying at the same time. It’s one of those stories that pulls at you throughout it. So well written. I loved also visiting with the other characters from prior books and upcoming ones. The relationship between the people who are part of the Rocky Mountian Search & Rescue is almost as important as Jesse and Ellie’s.
This is a great series that I think you’ll enjoy. Each book keeps getting better and better making for a wonderful series. If you like sexy sweet hero’s then this is your series.
Wow this story grabbed me from the beginning. Ellie is a widow with twin toddlers, her husband was killed in action before they were born. Her elusive neighbour Jesse looks out for in secret ways but they never meet for a couple of years. He has his reasons and demons of his own to fight. It was a beautiful love story and gave me so many feels, I laughed and I cried and that one heart stopping moment had me gripped to my kindle. What an emotional ride from this talented author. I’ve not read the previous two books before this one, it stands alone but I intend to go back and find out about the other characters. Jesse and Ellie were so likeable and a joy to read about, not to forget those innocent cherubs. You’ll be hoping they can work their way through all the trials of life and get their HEA.
Laughter and tears are abound while reading this emotional journey of two people each struggling with grief from their past that form a bond that starts them each on the journey to healing that leads to finding love again.
Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. I am always astounded at how this author can write stories that your immediately invested in emotionally. Your lured in by the characters and humor and then 1-2 punched with heavy emotions from the all to real subject matter.
