She wasn’t part of my original plan for revenge, but one glance at her and I was entranced. I followed her for weeks, observing her habits. I’ve been in her apartment numerous times, learning anything and everything I can about her. She’s become an obsession and I’ll do whatever it takes to make her mine. It’s only a matter of time before I have her where I want her…on her knees and at my mercy.… and at my mercy.
Soon, there will be no secrets between us.

Delude by Jacob Chance is all about Zach and Lana. I have to admit that I absolutely hated Zach’s character and I kinda still do. But Jacob Chance did an amazing job with writing this psychopath in the earlier books and to see a different light on him was a change, even if I didn’t like him.
Zach has a history that has made him who he is, that has made him want revenge on Kyle. Lana has a history that has left her heartbroken. These two broken people come together, even if Zach manipulated the situation due to his infatuation with her.
As the story progresses the two open up about their pasts, sharing their hurtful moments from their pasts. With secrets revealed about Zach, will Lana forgive him?
I think this one is my favorite so far!!!
Oh my gosh my view on Zack has been completely turned around. I’m absolutely swooning over this man and what he shares with Lana. We get glimpses into Lana’s past and it makes you draw conclusions as to what happened, over time we find out and damn I was not thinking that at all. Zack on the other hand we’re directly made aware of what happened to him in his childhood, it just breaks my heart. Once we learn more about how Zack grew up it starts to make sense as to why as to he chose the path he did and his actions, grated what he did was not the best of choices but it all clicks. The chemistry between Lana and Zack is incredible, we’ve gotten a taste of it in Tied and it just picks up now. When he says “soon there will be no secrets” I get so hyped up and I just can’t put this book down. Zack surprises everyone with the man he has become, the events that take place are so unexpected that I was gasping and smiling at the same time. The story kept at a good pace my interest was completely held till the very last sentence. This is a MUST READ. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Delude by Jacob Chance was the most suspenseful book I have read in a long time. I felt on edge the entire time I was reading and my uneasiness factor never went away.
Zach is a man with a violent past. His abusive childhood has left him with few coping mechanisms other than his need for revenge on the man who killed his father . . . . revenge, not because his father was dead, but because he did not get to be the one who killed him. When his original plan of stalking and murder goes awry, Zach must seek a new candidate for revenge. Things don’t work out quite as he plans, and he becomes obsessed with his target’s friend Lana.
Lana also has a broken past. As a child genius, she never quite fit in until she was an adult at her first job. We learn that she was in love and engaged to marry a man, who leaves her abruptly and unexpectedly, which has devastated her enough that she moves across the country to escape his memory.
As Zach’s obsession grows for Lana, he convinces her to date him, and they fall in love. While their love is real, it is built on lies and Zach’s obsession. The entire time I was reading, I was waiting to see what Zach would do if and when Lana discovered the truth about what he had done and the fact that she was really the victim of him stalking her.
This was my first book written by Jacob Chance. While he did a great job of giving enough back story that this could be read as a stand-alone, I wish I had read the other books in the series first so I had more of a connection with Zach’s past and the ancillary characters in this book.
This book is well written, and is a dark thrill ride of suspense. The ending was completely unexpected and I would enjoy reading more books in this series.

Awesome
Two weeks ago Jacob Chance was a new author to me. Not any longer. I’ve now read all of his books beginning with Quake and ending with Delude. You couldn’t ask for better story telling. There is action, romance, kidnapping, mobsters and a stalker bent on revenge at least at first. The men are hot as hell alphas and their ladies are feisty, beautiful and strong. Two of the men are private detectives. The third a. . . well you need to read all these books to form your own opinion. You won’t be able to put them down once you start they are that good. Take a chance, pun intended, on Jacob Chance.
When I started this book not sure I would finish it. Zack is a bad guy and I do not care what he has to say. I am so glad I stuck it out! What a great romance! Loved Lana and Zack – romance, heat, love. Thank you Jacob for a wonderful book. I am so glad you listen to Zack and told his story.

Although you get a glimpse of the characters in previous workings by the author, this book can be read as a standalone. It is advisable to read them to engage in the mind-set of the male protagonist more. I was really looking forward to this offering so I could discover exactly what it was that made Zack Weston, or Williams as he’s better known, tick. Surely there is a reason behind why somebody would behave the way he did previously, and here we are about to find out. Lana Edwards is the subject of his interest and I very much wanted to see how their story was going to unfold. Delude has an element of darkness and mystery mixed with some very steamy scenes.
Zack’s a bit of a loner. His mission is to get to know his neighbour, Lana, the girl who piqued his interest when he’d already been watching another subject. He’s desperately intrigued and will do almost anything to get to know her. Zack has done some unspeakable things, but what I did get to learn was how numerous past experiences make him so hell-bent on avenging others. He is one very angry, hurt man and while it can’t be excused, I began to understand the whys and wherefores. Nobody is born evil. It’s just circumstances that can make a person’s mind distort from right to wrong. I also got to learn a sweeter side of him which is mainly because of his attraction to Lana. Despite their magnetism, I worried about the psychotic side to Zack’s personality because let’s face, those tendencies were well-ingrained.
“Soon, there will be no more secrets between us. I just hope you’re still around when they’re all out in the open.”
Lana Edwards is a pretty young lady who works for KD Investigations for Kyle McKenzie and Derek Santiago. She is quite shy, sweet, and seems to be relatively happy with a good job, friends and a nice home. Looks can be deceiving because Lana carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. Hints of a past incident cause profound sadness and although there are flashes of a reasonably balanced life, it’s this part that had me wanting to find out exactly what happened to her. I always got the feeling she was running away from something, but in the same breath, never sure why. Lana is drawn to her neighbour Zack and they seem to strike up a bit of a friendship. That being said, knowing what I knew about the two protagonists had me on the edge of my seat!
“I hate when you say things like that. You’re a wonderful person, Zack. You show me all the time with your actions.”
I thoroughly enjoyed Zack and Lana’s story and yet again, the author has more than contributed to a major book hangover! I cannot dispute his writing talent since investing in his characters—good or bad ones, drew me into their lives with an incredible ease. The story-line is well-developed and the twists and turns and edgy scenes brought out all those emotions I look for in a good read. Of course, mixing provocatively explicit scenes amongst all the secrecy was a huge bonus. To sum up, life throws a curve-ball and causes pain. You’ll only find out if there’s light at the end of the tunnel by reading this beautiful love story. Kudos to the author and thank you for revealing the secrets.
This book is definitely ‘darker’ than the other books I have read by Jacob Chance, and it was great!! There were so many different feelings you go through while reading this book. In the beginning I didn’t like Zack at all and then by the end of the story I loved him and was cheering and hoping him and Lana would get that HEA. What a great book! Jacob Chance never disappoints with anything he writes!! Loved it!
Even people who have made the worst choices can gain redemption.
Zack has done some pretty bad things. However, once he sees Lana everything changes. The need for revenge and the desire to hurt others, dissipates. All his focus is on her and making her his.
Lana holds secrets. She has started over, but the heartbreak she shoulders still overshadows her potential happiness. She wants to move on, but is not sure she can. Then she meets Zack, her new neighbor.
Zack moves in next door and then begins to move into Lana’s heart. Their fall is slow, but it’s intense. Zack begins to become a man that Lana could love. If only his past wasn’t so ugly because the past always finds you and he doesn’t want to lose her.
This was a re-read for me. After re-reading the Delve Duet, I just had to re-visit Zack. Zack seemed to be unredeemable, but I actually found myself pulling for me. I wanted him to get his Happily Ever After. I definitely enjoyed this series and would recommend it to anyone.
This book is so good. Just when you think a character has no redeeming qualities Zack changes when he meets Lana. “Soon there will be no secrets between us”. Will Lana understand when she finds out Zach’s secrets? Will they survive? Please read this book and find out.
Okay, I approached this book with a single mindset and believing one thing, but what I came out of it knowing was something totally different and completely unexpected. Astounded; not only by the story line, but by the evoking feelings and emotions. I was completely and utterly blown away by this book.
I really don’t know how Jacob Chance managed to take a character, who in my eyes was entirely unredeemable and then managed to make me empathise with this broken and heartbreakingly complex man. Whilst I cannot ever condone Zack’s past actions, I honestly did not expect to fall so completely and utterly for the vulnerable side of Zack.
I have to say, Jacob gets better and better with each and every book he writes. I just love how fearless he is to grasp an opportunity to write about the darker and more taboo side of things and he does it unbelievably well. Consistently engaging and surprising his readers, Chance welcomes the challenge of writing about the villain. By carefully crafting a story that surpasses every expectation, DELUDE is one of many another reasons to be riveted and captivated by the words of Jacob Chance.
I love when books take me by surprise. This one certainly did. I went into the read hating Zack. From what I learned about him in prior books, the man was clearly delusional if no a bit psychotic. He is none of the things you want in a hero; creepy, stalker, psycho…..but then slowly, as I got to know this broken, abused man with a painful past, I actually found myself rooting for him. After learning about his upbringing I was able to better understand why he was doing the things he was doing and my heart started to break for him. The chemistry between Zack and Lana is off the charts. Lana herself isn’t perfect and has a past of her own. Delude is a suspenseful, sexy thrill ride that had me feeling all kinds of emotions. Wow!!
This book had me from the beginning. This book was so consuming I couldn’t put it down it was a well written story that was so gripping.Zach is out for revenge till he sees Lana and changes his outlook on life and the revenge he seeks. Slow burn romance with some twists.
If you’ve been reading these books, you probably have a preconceived opinion of Zach. He has been stalking Janny, tried to kill her and Kyle and then goes out in search of Kyles sister Kenna. While watching her at Quake he becomes enchanted by a little redhead Lana! With his revenge forgotten he now seeks Lana, moves in next door and they become friends. Not that it is any excuse but Zach has had a very disturbing upbringing and he has been left damaged. Meanwhile Lana is also broken. Zach knows he should leave her alone that she is too good for him and deserves much better, but he just can’t stay away.
WOW! That’s what my mind is saying right now. Who can take a guy you hate and turn him in to someone you root for getting their HEA? Jacob Chance that’s who. Lana & Zack are perfect together. I think the sex in here is the steamiest I’ve read so far from Jacob. Whew! Muy fuego Definitely, a must read. I do recommend starting with Quake, Quiver, Delve & Tied so you have all the backstory. But that may just be me. I’m OCD that way & want to get all the tidbits in progression.
Now on to Canvas, Elle & Josh’s story.
