Beta of Talons pack and wolf shifter, Mitchell, lost his mate thirty some years ago and doesn’t want another mate. He believes he lost his one and only chance at a mate until he meets Dawn. Dawn works as a barista and is from the Central wolf shifters but the pack brought a demon to earth, many years ago, and they are no longer a pack. Now her brother is destined to be their Alpha they are waiting on the moon goddess to bless them. Not all the packs are happy about the Centrals and someone is sending rogue wolves after Dawn. Mitchell and Dawn dance around their feelings cause neither are ready for mates. But when Dawn is taken, Mitchell might just have to mate her.
Shifters. Mates. Sex. And a little suspense. I enjoyed this story. There is a slight cliffhanger.

Mitchell seemed extra broody to me, he really had it down to an art form. His one saving grace was his devotion, albeit unwillingly, to Dawn. Dawn was a breath of fresh air, especially next to his storm clouds. She was hopeful while being realistic, and she didn’t let him wallow, but she also didn’t try to cheer him up. She let him be, and he learned to let her be, and they grew together. Long before they made conscious decisions, they were blending their lives together and falling in love. When it came time to do it for real, it was natural for them, and beautiful to be part of <3
I didn’t particularly care for this book. It was difficult to finish. The storyline was all over the place. Too many incomplete characters.
Another great Carrie Ann read
I get very few chances for being surprised, but; this books genuinely kept me guessing! lol I absolutely loved this book! I highly recommend this one folks! You won’t regret it!
I love Carrie Ann Ryan
Great read! Couldn’t put it down! Like this author and will definitely read more.
Didn’t like this book
Great read
Even knowing that this is book 6 in a series, if still fell flat. The tortured soul of the guy who lost his uncompromising, selfish mate got REALLY old. The female character didn’t have much personality either. Ends with the predicitable happy ever after, per formula, without even confronting the bad guy. Sheesh.
Anticipating the release of the final book in this series, I realized there were a few I hadn’t read. I need to catch up and this is where I left off.
Change is coming to what’s left of the old Central pack. Everyone feels it, Dawn’s brother Cole is set to become Alpha of the new pack once the Goddess blesses them. The Talon’s and Redwood’s are doing all they can to help prepare him and support him. Blade, the Alpha of the Aspen’s isn’t as supportive and in some respects is downright hostile although his beta manages to help keep the peace.
Mitchell the growly Beta of the Talon pack has a lot he holds inside, nightmares of blood and loss color his nights. But interactions with Dawn, the sister of the soon to be Alpha of the new Central pack have him wondering about the future he doesn’t deserve and his wolf doesn’t really want.
Dawn works as a barista at the coffee shop, and volunteers at a daycare. She needs the contact with children because she’s a maternal wolf. Dominant, strong with a need to protect. Because of that she isn’t one of the wolves that is ‘out’. When Mitchell comes into the coffee shop first acknowledges her as he gets coffee beans for his Alpha’s mate Brie. Dawn’s human friends are there and they don’t know she’s a wolf. Unlike some she isn’t out since she also volunteers at a daycare. That was all about to change.
Fortunately Dawn’s friends weren’t upset with her in the least, if anything they became more supportive.
But her reaction to Mitchell, and his to her, becomes more of a puzzle. These two just can’t seem to stay away from each other, and their internal battles are both frustrating and emotionally charged.
Some interesting interactions between Walker and Dawn’s friend Aimee left me wondering about them too.
There’s plenty of excitement, lots of surprises and enough heat to melt your kindle in this page turning read.
Carrie Ann Ryan has done it again! I’ve enjoyed all of the Redwood Pack and Talon Pack books so far, but this one was on a whole different level.
A confused beta, and a barista from a pack that isn’t a pack, but could be a pack? I was hooked from page 1.
Mitchell has a secret. One that no one that is alive knows about. And it is eating him up inside. Dawn is unhappy. She doesn’t know who she is or who she is supposed to be. But what they both know, is that they don’t want to be mated.
I love that there is a HEA, but also a cliffie that leads to the next book. I love the continuing family stories and visits from previous characters. There is always a lot of action in these books, but also a deep sense of family, love and loyalty to balance that out. As Carrie Ann Ryan has said, there is a new “Big Bad” introduced in this story, but there is also a lot of internal conflict within each character.
And let’s not forget, a Big Surprise that she has thrown in there to keep us on our toes. I never saw it coming, but can’t wait to see where she takes it!
Another fabulous story in the Redwood/Talon Pack World!
I love this series!
I received an ARC for my honest review.
Another outstanding story from Carrie Ann Ryan! Mitchell and Dawn’s story was one filled with love and compassion as well as heartbreak and tragedy. I felt myself drawn into their world and their love was so genuine I couldn’t put this book down. As someone who only read the first book in this series, there are times when I felt a little lost in the beginning but for the most part it can be read as a standalone. I look forward to Walker’s story and going back to the beginning of the series. Another great read for fans of Carrie Ann’s work and definitely a great series to get into if you haven’t already!
