She was never supposed to see him again…Penny Connor was practical to a fault. Which is why the beautiful accountant was determined to enjoy her honeymoon— groom or no groom. After walking in on her fiancé with another woman, she called off the wedding and hopped a plane to Italy. She allowed herself one sizzling week, acting completely out of character under the Tuscan sun with a handsome … with a handsome stranger, before returning home to pick up the pieces.
Hockey hotshot Ethan Hartnell had quite the reputation living life on his own terms. Being traded to the San Francisco Strikers, due to his questionable behavior was a fresh shot— his last shot. One he couldn’t afford to mess up. Everything was going according to plan, until he walks into a local bar and sees the woman who ran away from his bed in Tuscany.
Which is exactly what she plans to do when they see each other again— but this time he’s not going to let her get away so easily.
This is a full-length novel with a HEA and NO cliffhanger!

A truly enjoyable read.
I loved this book! Such wonderful characters, and I loved the twists and turns of their relationships with one another and others. The wonderful happy ever after made my heart sing!
Loved it
This is a cute start to the series. Well written and kept my attention as I moved through the story. Good character development and an interesting story line. I will definitely try out the next book in the series.
Book flows very nicely and is very easy to read. Penny has som lovely supportive friends. Both Ethan and Penny have dysfunctional families.
They were both betrayed by their ex’s! When Penny came to her fiancé’s office, she really got a surprise one that changed the outcome of her life. Going to Italy was suppose to give her peace but what she got was a hot relationship that she meant for to stay there in Italy. Too bad Ethan came back into the picture right where she least expected to see him. Is this fate drawing them together and will it lead to a happily ever after down the road for these two? This story has a lot of drama and characters you will identify with or want to wring their neck.
I loved this book. Loved the characters, the story line, everything. And I enjoyed the bonus novella. I just wish I had it before the book as it is the prequel.
Outstanding book that leads into an incredible series!!
4 PUCKS!
I love the reunion of Penny and Ethan, and their love story is great. There’s an ease to their Romance, even with all the obstacles they hit.
At first, I was slightly confused in the beginning with their back story being in Italy on vacation, but it became clearer the more I progressed.
I’d recommend this book.
A light enjoyable read. The flow was good, the characters, Penny & Ethan, were likable, the light humor was appreciated. I liked the “shoe on the other foot” plot, with Penny being the one to run away from a relationship, usually guys do that. I would have liked a bit more to the story from both the families to help fill in some of the gaps, to tie up all the lose ends. It also would have been great to have Ethan’s brother & his wife, Penny’s Mom & Penny’s ex-fiancé all get a little Karma. Unplanned revenge (the h/H didn’t cause it or pursue it) is always sweet in stories like this. Then with an epilogue further into their future than the one given.
I really enjoyed the flow of this book’s narrative. And the Author’s Note at the end was a great surprise! I look forward to reading more from Stephanie Kay
Penny, a beautiful account, walked in on her fiancé with another woman she called off the wedding. Practical to a fault, she hopped on a plane and went on her honeymoon alone to Italy. She spent one week acting completely out of character under the Tuscan sun with a handsome stranger, hockey hotshot Ethan. He had the reputation of living life on his own terms. He was traded to the San Francisco Strikers due to his questionable behavior. That was to be a fresh shot and his last. He could not afford to mess up. Everything was going to plan until he walks into a local bar and sees Penny, who ran away from his bed in Tuscany. She plans to do the same again, but he is not going to let her go so easily. – Penny is smart, a hard worker, angry with her ex, and not trusting of men. Ethan has bad reputation because he took up with puck bunnies and got bad media coverage after a breakup with his long-time girlfriend. Penny and Ethan are both good with lots of chemistry, and both have issues with their families. Penny’s friends are supportive of her. This is an interesting romance from start to finish
