easy reed great story loved the characters love her work good book
At first I didn’t like the characters. He seemed shallow and she was a flaming bitch. And it was slow getting started. But once it got closer to the middle, it got good. The sex was hot, the characters turned into real people with feelings and vulnerabilities. I liked them. And then there was the cute, tiny monkey. I really liked him! I don’t know the first thing about cars, but there were only a few times it came up, like degreeing the cam. I didn’t know degree was a verb. All-in-all, this was a good little read. I might buy more Ms Blakely’s stand alone books.
Another fabulous read by Lauren Blakey!! Max and Henley were off the charts HOT!!! This enemies to lovers story is so good I could NOT put it down. It has steaming chemistry, laugh out loud banter and sizzling sexy times. A must read!
At first I wasn’t sure how much I was going to like this book. This was the first Blakely book I needed to take a mental break while reading. Max irritated the mess out of me throughout the majority of the story! He kept flip flopping, was being hot and cold. Honestly, I wanted to strangle him and then I wanted to give him a hug. Eventually, Max became the man I knew he could be and I loved how he realized his mistakes from the past, got his head out of his ass and got his woman! Seeing him fall in love with Henley was so sweet. In typical Blakely fashion I was left with a smile on my face once the book was over. As I said before when it comes to romantic comedies no one is touching Lauren Blakely!!
“Life is short. Savor it now.”
I was hooked on Max from the first paragraph of the prologue. He had me at guilty pleasure…or rather, not feeling guilty about pleasure. My kind of man. But then again, what Lauren Blakely man has not been my kind of man??? I don’t think there’s been one I haven’t completely fallen for, but I’m not sure it’s happened quite this fast!
Max has been living and enjoying his life one one-night stand at a time, until Henley Rose Marlow comes tap, tap, tapping on her stiletto heels back into his life. She’s the one who got away, or rather, she’s the one he let get away five years ago when he fired her, before he was ever even able to reconcile his feelings for her. And now that she’s back in town old feelings, long held grudges, and devilish temptations all come roaring back to the surface. She’s working for the enemy now and Max can’t let his desire for her cloud his judgement. But when they’re thrown together to work on a project, all his rules get thrown right out the window.
Chock-full of the witty banter, fun, and sexiness I’ve come to love and expect from a Lauren Blakely book, Joy Ride was a complete joy to read!
She did it again. Lauren Blakely is my hero. I’ve missed her over the last few months but it was well worth the wait. As you all know by now, Lauren Blakely can do no wrong in my eyes. I have yet to read a book that she wrote that I haven’t absolutely adored. She could rewrite the phone book (they still have those, right??) and I’d love every single word. The level of romantic comedy, heart and yes, good ol’ dirty sex is absolute gold in Joy Ride!
Max Summers and Henley Marlowe are custom car builders and very talented ones at that. Five years back, Henley worked for Max until an unfortunate event happened and Max let her go. Now, Henley’s back and Max just isn’t sure what to do with her. She works with the competition and he owns his own business, Summers Custom Autos, so they are destined to be rivals. Right? Until they are both commissioned to work on a car, together, for a network TV show and spend more time together under the hood than they bargained for.
“I’m jealous of whoever it is that knows this woman better than I do. I want to know her. I want to understand her.”
The sexual tension was off the charts the minute Henley walked up to Max. They are both doing their best to avoid the inevitable until they are just about ready to combust (so was I!). Henley and Max are all types of perfect together, hell, they LOVE cars with such passion it is hard not to do the same. Yet, both of them have secrets that they are keeping from each other. And until they come clean with each other, their race to the HEA checkered flag will be red flagged.
I love how this story was told by Max, with Henley’s To Do lists thrown in occasionally. And by the way, all the To Do list should have said was DO MAX Honestly, I think I love Henley more than I love Lauren Blakely! Henley is one bad ass chick making her way in a man’s world yet has such a feminine side, she had now surpassed every single Blakely girl by a mile!!
The attention to detail alone, my god. Lauren definitely did her research on this one! Get ready for the Joy Ride of your life with Henley and Max!
This was a little slow to get started but picks up quick once the characters get together. Overall good story.
Loved this book. Once again started reading it I couldn’t put it down.
