A dark, bloody book, at its bleak heart about the love a mother has for her children and the lengths she will go to for them to survive. You’ll never look at jogging, the homeless, or even vampires the same way again. And, no, this book isn’t about and doesn’t feature vampires at all. What’s featured here is infinitely worse.
This story has a lot of elements to it.
I was happy for Macon, Erin and Lyric.
Marcos is a bit twisted and I like Maria.
There are things that will gross you out.
Get ready for a very bumpy roller-coaster ride.
On the Lips of Children was not what I expected at all.
Since reading one of Mr. Matthew’s previous books, (Stray), way back when I first got my Kindle, I’ve been meaning to read more of his work. When he offered a free copy of this one, in exchange for an honest review, I said yes. I’m glad I did! “Stray” was a good read but this novella (short …
Wow, I couldn’t put it down
Original concept that could chillingly be more truthful than an average person could ever conceive. Couldn’t put it down!
Macon had plans to make his relationship with Erin official. He got a ring and would have proposed ..if only a crazy family in some old smuggling tunnels hadn’t gotten the need for some food that just happens to be anyone but them. Will they escape or simply be what’s next on the menu?
I really enjoyed the characters and had to finish it quick …
It was dark and weird. I was not into it.
I didn’t care for this book. I was so irritated by the main characters and the decisions they made.
This book was like an accident you can’t stop looking at; I couldn’t stop reading. There was no clarity, for me, as to where Maria and Marcos were actually bringing Macon. No clear pay-off. This is not a novel for the faint hearted.
Liked it but it felt very anti-climatic.
I didn’t make it far into the book because I felt it was too political. It may not have been intended to be this way, but I guess with the current political environment, it came across this way.
I couldn’t put this one down. It will always be a memorable book to me, and I’m eager to learn if there is a movie based on this. I will admit, this book isn’t for the fainthearted.
Original, outside the box, well written.
I’m not sure why I even picked this book, and why I kept on reading it is even more of a mystery, except I have a thing about finishing a book I start. This was a truly horrible book, with very little story and a whole lot of pointless ugly violence. I would not recommend this book.
awful
To be fair, much of what I didn’t like about this story was a matter of taste. I prefer my horror with elements that edge on fantasy or science fiction. This story had a couple things that technically weren’t realistic, but these things were less of a fantastical element and more of a choice to not bother sticking to what’s medically …
