To do it, Jaeger assembles an expert team of ex-SAS soldiers. They must head deep into the Amazon rainforest. It seems his friend was on the trail of an old Nazi bomber.
And someone definitely wants it kept secret. As things go wrong, and Jaeger closes the net on his friend’s killer, he comes to realise one thing.
Everything is connected. And, for one man, the War never ended . . .
A modern, edge-of-your-seat thriller, shrouded in the shadows cast by Nazi Germany. Great for fans of Gregg Hurwitz, James Swallow, and I Am Pilgrim.

By renowned adventurist and survivalist Bear Grylls comes a first-rate, well-written contemporary thriller. Not surprisingly, you could see Bear in the role of the main character (and I did throughout the book). It’s a high-concept story, a bit far-fetched, but Bear pulls it off and sets things up nicely for the sequel, which I also intend to read.
I started this without noticing that it was written by Bear Grylls. It is an excellent book, with a very clear story, no clue what is coming next and several surprise plot twists. The dialog has that nice quality of being something you could imagine hearing in the real world. The book tells a complete story, but ends in a way that leaves me wanting to read the next one in this series. I want to see how it all comes together, but this book does stand on its own, for people who may never get to read the next one(s?)…
I wasn’t sure about Bear making his way into literature but he has performed admirably with an action packed page turner. There are moments when unnecessary detail about eating grubs to survive, crop in, but at the end of the day, it is BG so what did I expect!?
Couldn’t put it down. Great book.
Different from what I had expected.
This book was hard to put down. I’m a fan of historical fiction and this book hit the spot for me. I’m eager to read his next book.
Easy read with an interesting story line / plot.
I’ll read another one by this author.
Geographically and ethnically accurate. The tale was woven with several cultures playing a part. Delightfully entertaining.
Style makes it hard to read
Who knew, the Bear can write as well as perform death defying survival challenges. Great story line about a Nazi transport plane discovered in the depths of the Amazon jungle. All signs point to a deadly cargo. Believable characters and a trek through the deepest jungle provide a real page turner that I had a hard time putting down. This book is actually the first volume in what looks like a two part story that is continued in Bears next book, THE HUNT. Can’t wait to pick up the story line again. I expect this book to be as good as GHOST FLIGHT. Read it, you’ll love it!
If you want a non-stop action book, this provides that in spades.. But it is at some point too much adrenaline, always getting out OK, heavy drama. Ending pushes next boo in series.
Thought Provoking
Slow read O action
The book was great but hate an ending that leaves you hanging.
The end left things up in the air otherwise I really enjoyed it
I am just over 3/4 of the way through it – can’t put it down. Enjoying the creativity and the grit of his characters. Dying to know how it ends and who makes it out….
I expected something more realistic from this author. Something I could believe really could or did happen.
I bought this book for my 16 year old grandson to take on a family trip. An avid fan of Bear’s TV series as well as writers like Tom Clancy and James Patterson, he loved the book and and had my husband reading it when he finished. Both said I should read it!
So good I bought the sequels.
