There’s a phrase: Still waters run deep. But there’s more to it than that.Because “still” doesn’t denote peace. Nor calm. Nor happiness. It’s an illusion. It’s chaos. The only way to handle chaos is to become it.That’s what Lucy did. She created stillness out of the chaos tumbling inside her and called the most chaotic motorcycle club in the United States her family. The Sons of Templar gave her … her family.
The Sons of Templar gave her chaos, friendship, family, danger and death.
But she wouldn’t want it any other way.
Then he came. The one who showed her that her handle on chaos was tumultuous at best.
Showed her how to stand still.
And how good it could be.
And how drowning in those waters comes as easy as breathing.

Keltan melts my undies off.
Ive never started a review like that. Ever. (normally I save for the middle of my review at least!) But it had to be said. First.
We have met Lucy and Keltan before in the Sons of Templar series and this book takes us back in time to their first meeting.
Both have their demons, and boy do they have their demons and this book walks us through them and the trials and tribulations of trying to tame them so you can have a semblance of a normal life.
Yes this book has meaning but it also has a cast of great known and loved characters, some new ones step into the limelight, there is banter, love and some really hot sex scenes (desk, wink wink!!)
A fantastic first book in the series and sets up for some corkers that I cant wait to get my hands on.
“I could taste the storm that lingered beneath the still. Chaos recognized chaos, after all.”
I really enjoyed this first installment of the Greenstone Security series that features some well-loved characters from the author’s Sons of Templar series. You can’t go wrong with that combination, right?
Lucy is broken, but surviving. Surrounded by her friends and family that love her unconditionally she’s content, though not necessarily living her dream. She’s become conditioned to the chaos that is her life and not really looking for more. Then he walked in…more. “—hunger I thought myself immune to, now rivaled anything I’d felt when on one of the many crazy diets I’d done over the years. It was like I hadn’t had carbs in seventeen years and he was a big bowl of pasta.”
Their attraction was immediate and intense. Their bodies called to one another and their ghosts refused to stay hidden. “Yeah. I see you, baby. I see all of you. Mostly because it takes someone who’s been under that water to recognize what the drowning feels like.”
Lust and passion and pain pushed and pulled them as they struggled to make peace with their demons. It was easier to run than to risk being hurt again, but danger kept rearing its ugly head and he was determined to keep her safe.
I tried Google (it worked so well for Lucy), but I could not find a phone number or website for Greenstone Security. I was hoping to hire a sexy bodyguard to keep an eye on. Nope, that wasn’t a typo. I guess I’ll just have to grab a copy of Shield and see what kind of trouble Rosie gets into instead. The line forms here…
Holy Sh*t!!! What a freaking read. I love me some Alpha male, but Anne you have created a whole new meaning to ‘Alpha Male’ with Keltan. I just have one question where can I get me a hot, protective Alpha male like Keltan? I have to be honest this is the first book I have read of Anne Malcom’s but I can tell you with complete honesty and maybe not so clear mind as I want some more Keltan alpha-ness, it will definitely not be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Lucy and Keltan‘s story and how they were able to start breathing again because of each other, even though it took them 2 years to finally be able to be together and be happy.
Anne Malcom is not a new author to me – I have read and loved every book she has released. She is a guaranteed “One Click Author” for me. This meant I happily opened my Still Waters ARC (after squealing like a fangirl at a Bieber concert) ready to enjoy an evening of Anne’s words – expecting her usual witty dialogue, hot alphas and plenty of steamy action. I got this, but I also got so much more.
It was quite simply, in my opinion, her best work to date.
Don’t worry readers we still get her brand of action romance, sassy heroines you instantly want to be best friends with, alphas who make you swoon and dialogue (internal and spoken) which is so funny you will definitely LOL. Nobody sets a scene like Anne.
I glanced at his steady and confident gait, the way he walked with an air about him that exuded something more than masculinity. Like he could handle anything that came at him. Like he could dismantle a car bomb while pleasuring a woman.
I nodded once, knowing my drunken self might “yippee” with glee if I spoke. And then my sober self would’ve had to throat-punch my drunk self.
I was in a masculine stance sandwich, and I wasn’t even enjoying it. Okay, I was enjoying it a little. But that was the problem.
Lucy was already a favourite of mine from the Sons of Templar series but this book gives us her full story – and it’s definitely not all hearts and flowers. Lucky for her, Keltan is not a man easily scared away and with his background he has an understanding of battling your demons.
He let go of my hand. Then he stood there, in the middle of my black-and-white room, my black-and-white life, and leaked color all over the place.
“You’re so much more than you seem,” I whispered. His hands tightened around me as he grinned. “And what do I seem, Snow?” I traced his jaw. “I don’t know. Still, I guess.” “Still waters run deep, baby.”
“Open your f#*@n’ eyes,” he commanded on a thick growl. I immediately complied. And drowned in his solid black irises, more wild and feral than I’d ever seen them. It was right there. At the surface. His chaos. His demons. And he was showing it all to me.
This story is what can be described as a Slow Burn but it is by no means a slow book. There is always something happening, something for the reader to think about, decisions to be made, plot lines to consider. Anne simply takes her time to allow the real, raw, honest flow of the story to unfold. It is a story full of emotion, genuine real time relationships and character growth that you don’t often see in romance reads. This is not an easy story but to me that makes it more memorable. It is nevertheless a beautiful story.
“What we had,” I interrupted, was moments. Merely a handful. Not enough to fill a suitcase and certainly not enough to fill up a heart,” I lied. “Not enough to build on this fantasy.”
“People may not belong to people, but you’re not people. Never were. You were always more. Always mine.”
Lucy (or Snow as Keltan calls her – talk about swoonworthy nickname ) goes through a lot in this story and not all of it is good. There were times I wanted to go out drinking with her, times I wanted to hug her and times I wanted to shake her. I personally loved that Keltan didn’t swoop in and “fix” her, she has to fix herself. She has to be her own hero. To learn who she truly is and what she is capable of. Everybody needs a Keltan to help them find their way.
But there were very few places in this world where one could be completely honest. But in the moment after the person you love had laid you to waste, was still inside you, it was little more than sacrilege to lie. Physically impossible.
“No, Snow. I take care of my woman. Always. In every way. And most especially in this particular way,” he murmured, eyes on mine. Neither me nor my inner feminist had it in us to argue, so we let him go about his business.
“I want a lifetime of moments with you. I know you want it too, whatever that delicious mouth says.”
I don’t want to say anything to spoil the nuts and bolts of the story so I will leave it here. What you will get from this book:
Kick Ass Heroine
Hottest of the Hottest Alphas
Real emotions
Lead Character Growth
Hilarious Supporting Characters
Superb dialogue
Sexual Chemistry so hot your Kindle may combust
You will need tissues, and wine, and probably chocolate, you will laugh out loud and you will get angry at some parts. I am confident that you will love this book and these characters as much as I did. Would give this one 6 s if I could.
First time reading anything from Anne Malcom and I must say she’s very good at weaving her stories and transporting the reader into another reality that feels so real. If you haven’t read anything of her books well then I say get this one and try it because I can definitely guarantee you will not be disappointed in your choice. I tried and I am really happy that I did because I found myself a new author to follow.
First book in this crossover series from Sons of Templar. Lucy and Kelton were so cute and whitty and I just loved the way reading this book made me feel. Being a reader of many genre’s I love when I can just dive into a story and get caught up in the wonder of that world. I get that with every Anne Malcolm book. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series.
So I am a huge fan of crossovers. So when I saw this I was so excited. So if you have read Anne than you know of the crossover series into Greenstone Security. Which I was just love. I love the way Anne writes, everything from her characters to her plots. You know you are getting something special when she decides to write you a story.
In Still Waters we get Lucy and Kelton. So i remember Lucy from the SOT series and was happy for her to get her book. So you know she can be leary of men because of her past. But I was so entertained watching Kelton tear down every wall she had with his huge personality. But if you are looking for a sweet full of rainbows and sunshine story, you won’t find it here. There are twists and turns and road blocks, but yes the lows and highs are so worth it.
So in conclusion I so enjoyed this story, and this author, and it is one that I would recommend.
This book was absolutely amazing and I loved it so much highly recommend
Still Waters by Anne Malcom is a book that tugs on your heartstrings. A feel good romance combined with angst and a whole lotta testosterone, you won’t know what to do with yourself. I voluntarily read an ARC copy of this book and I loved it. It’s not surprising how much I loved this book considering I’ve loved all of this author’s other works. If you’ve read a few of Anne’s books before whether it be the Sons of Templar series or the Unquiet Mind series, we first meet Keltan and Lucy in those books and even then you can feel the chemistry between these two.
I love how all of Anne’s books and characters are all connected to each other in some way or form. It builds trust and just lets your emotions run deeper when it comes to the story and the characters, because you’re already in that particular mindset when you’re reading the book and just having a story continue on from that point is awesome (I don’t even know if that makes sense). Being a Pacific Islander myself and growing up in the islands, I have a definite soft spot for my brown brothers, whether they be Kiwi, Tongan, Samoan or Fijian. And New Zealand is a second home to me, so this story already had my vote just from that part alone. I loved it. I know a few Kiwi’s I was picturing in my head as Keltan the whole time so that was a bonus.
Just because Keltan is from a different country, he might have an accent and grew up differently, but ALPHA is the same all over the world and he’ll stop at nothing to protect his person. Lucy is a bit different from all the other heroines. In a way, all of Anne’s heroines are unique in their own way, bringing their own independence and fire to the mix that somehow boils their better halves blood. But they are similar in the way they are stubborn and in the passionate way they love. Still Waters is a story of hope. Of love. It’s trying to find a way to breathe and tread through the dangerous waters of life that threaten to drown us, to consume us. It’s a story of second chances and a love like you’ve never seen. It’ll hit you in all the right places and definitely leave you reeling.
Be prepared. Anne Malcom has written another beautifully haunting story that will leave you either crying or burning up. Amazing read.
5 Angst & Kick-ass Heels Stars
Still Waters is the first book in The Greenstone Security Series by Anne Malcom. I probably didn’t read her books in the order that I probably should have, but that’s on me and I’m ok with that. I read this series after reading all of the released books in her Sons of Templar MC Series.
Lucy has been surrounded by the ‘Sons of Templar’ most of her life, she considers them her family. She has one rule and that’s to never hook up with men within the Son’s. So she is surprised to see one man she is very interested in walk into a party but she is determined to be her cool margarita drinking, expensive heels wearing, generally kickass self. She plays it cool even though she feels way more then she lets on to herself.
“You’re not people,” he argued. “And I know you. That you look fuckin’ amazing in leather pants. That you walk around and don’t even know you have a whole club of bikers drooling after you. That you strut around drinkin’ fuckin’ martinis, glass and all at a party where people have sex in dark corners. That you despise the thought of being saved, that you don’t like mornings and that you’re the most fuckin’ beautiful creature I’ve ever seen,” he mumbled, stepping forward.
i couldn’t help but love Keltan, He fell hard for Lucy the first time he saw her and he knew she wasn’t ready for him, but was willing to wait for her. But eventually Keltan has had enough of fighting Lucy, he’s taking what he knows they both want but what Lucy denies.
He snatched his shirt off the sofa, and both Polly and I watched him shrug it on. The only thing we needed was David Attenborough narrating the process, we were watching him that intently.
Get your wine ready for this one, it’s jammed packed full of angst, action, laughs and feels. I loved it and couldn’t put it down. The secondary characters where amazing and I can’t wait for some of the stories to come.
Lucy Walker has been “unofficial” family of the Sons of Templar MC since becoming best friends with Rosie Fletcher since they were little girls. She works at The Amber Star as a reporter and all she really wants is her big break so she can start investigating the news that matters.
Keltan Brooke is from New Zealand and meets Lucy one night and knows immediately that she is the one for him but he is a soldier and returns overseas to fight in the war but continues to keep in touch with Lucy.
As Keltan and Lucy both struggle to overcome their own demons they each need to fix themselves before they can have a future. Is Lucy ready to find the “still” in her life and embrace Keltan or will she drown in everything going on around her?
This was such a great book and although it started off a little slow and frustrating for me, I totally began to understand where the author was coming from and couldn’t stop reading!
I really liked Lucy and her friendship with Rosie. She had a close relationship with the Sons of Templar and I think I need to go back and ready all of their stories. Lucy really had trouble letting people get in close to her and she was continually pushing Keltan away due to some events from the past that really scarred her.
Keltan was such a great character but I admit I was mad at him a few times for leaving Lucy but then I understood why as she needed to fix herself and he couldn’t do it for her. I also understood why he was frustrated with her involvement with the club as it continually put her in danger and Keltan didn’t want to lose her.
There was so much chemistry between Keltan and Lucy that you were really hoping that they would work things out but then Lucy would push him away and Keltan would leave. That would leave me so frustrated and swearing at the book!
Things began to get more intense at a certain point when Lucy is in LA and what she walks into. Freaky!!! I knew Lucy wouldn’t give up on what she was assigned to do but it really made Keltan’s life more difficult. I liked what Lucy was able to figure out but it put her in so much danger!
The very end was scary for sure but I was glad that Lucy was ok and she realized how much she needed Keltan!!
Can’t wait for the next story so we can figure out what happened to Rosie!
By Rebecca
So good! Determined to find the truth can be dangerous but that’s never stopped love from working it’s magic. Intense action packed drama with a twist of romance!
Ahhhh Lucy. Who doesn’t love a woman who loves shoes blowing things up when she gets bored? And then we have our smooth speaking kiwi – Keltan. The man is the epitome of persistence and patience.
“You’re so much more than you seem,” I whispered. His hands tightened around me as he grinned. “And what do I seem, Snow?” I traced his jaw. “I don’t know. Still, I guess.” “Still waters run deep, baby.”
Loved this first crossover book in the Greenstone Security series. Anne keeps the same tone as I have learned to love throughout her Sons of Templar series, but there is a lightness even through the action in this book. You have to admire a woman who can save herself all while wearing Louboutins. It’s helpful to have read the previous SoT books, but not totally necessary, however if you haven’t you will want to after reading this one!
This is a new author to me. I found this a little slow to get into but when Keltan goes off to war and emails her the pace picked up for me.
I loved the witty interaction between the two. I absolutely adored Lucy she’s such a spitfire, humorous, confidence, kiss ass girl. Keltan is perfectly matched with her,
Keltan is perfectly matched with her, typical alpha male he affectionately calls Lucy, Snow.
They are a great couple and I loved them together.
