Angie is a survivor. Anything you could throw at her, she could overcome. After her father left her like a pile of unwanted trash, she began fighting. Fighting to build a life. Fighting to keep her child. Fighting to matter. She thought she had it all figured out. Then Bowen Race Tannenbaum walks into her life, turning it into a flurry of confusion, hope, and then ultimately despair. He tore down, … despair. He tore down, brick-by-brick, her carefully constructed world, leaving her heart in tatters and longing for more. Such as a happily ever after, something that wasn’t ever going to happen for her. Not when she couldn’t give him what he wanted. He’d break her, and she couldn’t be put back together a second time.
Bowe wasn’t always so jaded, but when you keep drawing a losing hand, it tends to affect a man. He didn’t mean to lash out so carelessly. But he was so over being told no. He was done being lied to. He through with being cheated on.
This time, his heart was getting what it wanted. If Angie wasn’t able to see what he was offering, what was right here in front of her, well then, he’d just have to damn well show her.

Bowe is one that i have wanted to find his other half in life. Angie has been just someone in the background, and someone that feels like no one really wants to put first in life. but, Bowe has noticed her. when they agree to co-habitat after Bowe is injured and can’t remember anything they agree not to fall in love with one another, and of course no sex. Bowe is determined to keep and show Angie that she is his forever.
with the baggage that Angie believes that she has, nothing could make Bowe love her less. i wanted to smack Angie upside of her head when she was being stubborn. but, if there wasn’t moments like that when reading then the book isn’t worth reading. something that i haven’t had to worry about when it comes to Vale.
this was a good end to yet another great series,
Anyone else when starting this series couldn’t wait to get to Bowe’s story. He is my favorite out of this series. Just so sweet and an excellent cook, where can I get one hahahaha.
Angie and Bowie are just perfect for one another from the beginning but Angie is hesitant due to a past relationship that left her scarred. But what she doesn’t realize is that Bowe has his own scars from past relationships they just aren’t visible. These two story will make you laugh and leave you on the edge of your seat till the very end. I would recommend reading!
An amazing story. I love Bowe! It take a special man to take on the responsibility of being a dad to someone else’s child but like he said not a step dad… he is a dad. Angie and Bowe are perfection. Lani Lynn Vale never ceases to amaze me. I am so happy that Bowe got his HEA and I loved the heartwarming and beautiful way he found it. Great story!!!!
Bows and Angie! What an amazing story of love and trust.
This is the fifth book in the Kilgore Fire series. They are complete stand alones, but you do see previous characters in each book. I have loved all of Lani’s books, for each series. What I love the most is how each series is connected.
I am so happy to finally have Bowe’s story. I’ve loved him since we first met him. He’s a great guy and it shows in this book.
Angie is awesome too. I can completely understand her feelings towards her dad. Benn there, done that, got the t-shirt myself.
What she went through because of her dad, and the eil steps, plus what Troy put her through and did to her, damn. I have no words. But It did make her a stronger person. She’s a great mom and will do any and every thing for her baby girl.
Bowe actually reminds me of my dad, because of how he is with Elise. He’s not a step-dad, he is her dad!
Just like in all of the other Lani books, the quotes at the start of each chapter are great.
“I don’t have a step daughter. I have a daughter that was born before I met her.”
~Bowe to Angie
“Life is so much more enjoyable since I decided to stop giving a fuck.”
~Angie’s secret thoughts
“I’m not a helicopter mom, a crunchy mom, or a soccer mom. I’m just a regular mom trying not to raise assholes.”
`Angie’s secret thoughts
This is book 5 in the Kilgore Fire series, I do suggest that you read the previous stories before this. Angie’s life has not been easy, her father is a man that needs a throat punch, but his impact of being such a d-bag left Angie with scars. Then the man that she gave all her firsts to, is also a d-bag. So needless to say, she tries to stay away from Bowe but he just keeps showing up. Bowe knows what he wants and its Angie, and he is going to keep at her until he wears her down. That is until there is an incident and Bowe is injured, badly. Angie, feeling responsible, now spends almost 24/7 with the one man that she was trying to avoid. Can Angie keep her distance, or will Bowe get what he wants?
I loved Bowe and Angie’s story! This was amazing! Angie’s situation really pulls at your heart strings, it makes complete sense the way she pushes Bowe away and keeps him at arms length. This story had a bit of everything in it; violence, drama, sexy times that were so freaking hot. 5 star read all the way.
Love Bowe. This whole series is amazing and great. All the male characters are alpha badass. And all their woman are sassy hard ass woman.
I love Lani Lynn Vales books I always have to pre order and add to my TBR once it’s available to do so .This one has to be one of my favorites I’v been waiting for Bowens book and I must say I’m not disappointed and Angie was perfect for him . Bowe was sweet , caring , protective , and such a dirty talker I loved it also the relationship between him and Angies daughter was super adorable he looked at her like she was his daughter . Angie has to be one of my favorite heroines from this author she’s tough , a mamma bear , funny ,and also graded she has a close relationship with her mother , sister and brother and the little she had totally stole my heart like all Lanis kids do . It was so good to see all the other characters from this series we also get to see my all time favorite couple in this one was so happy when they were mentioned . One thing I wish thier was more to would be more of a payback to Angies dad and his awful new family . I laughed , cried , laughed some more , swooned , fanned myself , got angry and I also caught myself saying aww a lot . I’m so excited to read whats next already have it pre ordered.
