Reardon Lewis is a small-town lawyer in Cherry Springs, the place where he and his cousins grew up. With the body of a Viking and the heart of a geek, Reardon is loyal to his family and indispensable to his community. The only thing missing in his life is love, and it just so happens that the one woman he has always wanted but could never have has just moved to Cherry Springs. Chloe Zahn is a … Zahn is a successful businesswoman, a city girl, and a single mom. The last thing she ever planned to do was move to a small town, but that’s the choice she’s made to bring her son closer to his dad. The only problem? The Lewis family and the obvious disdain they have for her.
The more time Reardon and Chloe spend together, the harder it is to fight their growing feelings for each other. Things between them have always been Too Complicated, but Reardon knows this may be his last chance to win over the woman he’s always dreamed of, complications be damned.
Too Complicated is the second in an all-new small-town romance series by Bethany Lopez. Follow the Lewis cousins as they learn about love and loss in Cherry Springs, the kind of place where there are festivals for every occasion and everyone knows your business.

great read
Too Complicated (The Lewis Cousins #2) was a great read by Bethany Lopez. Reardon is a small-town lawyer in the town he grew up in. The only thing missing in Reardon’s life is a love. Unfortunately he has always wanted Chloe, but he can never have her. She didn’t expect to move to the small town, but she did to be closer to her son’s father. I really loved reading Reardon and Chloe’s story and loved their chemistry. I can’t wait to read more by Bethany Lopez.
Chloe comes into her own. A standalone but reading book one really sets up this story. We all love a nice guy and its finally Rearden’s time to get the girl.
Chloe really falls in love!
Lawyer Reardon Lewis liked Chloe Zahn the first time he saw her but when she moved to his home town to co-parent her son Christopher that she had with his cousin Gabe, he didn’t want to rock the boat. Reardon wanted someone who liked living in a small town and wasn’t trying to get him to move to the city. Chloe was attracted to Reardon but had to figure out if she wanted more with Reardon.
I had to read Too Complicated after reading Too Tempting because I wanted to finish Chloe’s story with Reardon.
A good second story in the Lewis Cousins series. Reardon is a kindhearted man who has a lot of the kid left in him. Chloe just moved to the small town, is or was until recently a single mother who is just now getting some time for herself. With Chloe also in the unique position of being the mother of Christopher, 8 years old, not telling Gage (Reardon’s cousin & Christopher’s dad) about his son. This all came out in the first story highlighting Gage & Zoey (Chloe’s sister)
Needless to say Reardon & Chloe’s romance is complicated.
Anne James did a good job narrating. There were times when a female inflection was used for the male voice but I got over it.
I loved reading this story and learning more about the Lewis family. This is Book 2 in the Lewis cousins series. Reardon’s story and his HEA! Mr. Viking himself has a “man cave” (I personally would love to have) and has a soft spot for a certain someone! I was totally rooting for Mr. nice guy lawyer throughout his whole story. I’m really excited for book 3 on the Lewis cousins series. If you haven’t started this series yet, you’re in for some surprises and I recommend you start with Gabe’s story in Book 1 Too Tempting, than on to book 2 Too Complicated, … it’s interesting with this family. there were a few complications along the way too but in the best possible way!
Potential Spoilers if you haven’t read/listened to Too Tempting.
The title certainly fits the plot of this book. If you’ve made it this far you know that Zoe’s sister Chloe had a baby with Gabe but didn’t tell anyone who the father was. In the first book of this series, of course we see Zoe fall in love with Gabe and learn to deal with that fact. Reardon is Gabe’s cousin and was attracted to Chloe the instant he saw her across the bar 13 years ago. Unfortunately for him she went home with Gabe instead. Initially when Chloe returned to Gabe’s life, Reardon was wary and suspicious of her, being concerned that she was trying to take advantage of him. Realizing that she just wants her son to have a relationship with his father, Reardon now has to convince Chloe that he doesn’t hate her, despite how he’s treated her in the past. I liked this book, it was honest about how weird and awkward the situation was, while also acknowledging you can’t help who you fall in love with (stranger love triangles have happened in real life). The characters were great, and my heart went out to Chloe being a single mom all those years and then having to deal with the fallout from keeping the secret. I adore stories that have large, close-knit families who stick by each other. The banter and teasing between the characters is funny and had me smiling. This is a great addition to the series. I listened to the audio version and really liked it, it kept me entertained while tackling a large project. The narrator, Anne James did a really great job.
What a great book! The fact that these two missed out on something so beautiful when they were younger is sad, but then things wouldn’t have worked out so perfectly if it hadn’t happened. A perfect second chance love story that you will listen to non stop all the way to the end.
I am in love with this series! I really enjoy the way the author writes about the family kinship. Reardon is a fine specimen of a man but he always gets put in the friends zone. This is kind of hard to believe. However, if all your family and friends are as spectacular you are, I can see how this could happen. Chloe has had an unusual path because of one night of fun and excitement , oh and unprotected sex, which has helped define who she. I enjoyed this couples story and definitely recommend reading this book.
