…Michelle has really blown my expectations out of the window with this story… a five-star read – Kelly St. Clare, YA Books CentralCalifornia “Callie” McCoy feels most alive when her feet are planted firmly on her surfboard. And one day, she dreams of riding that wave out of her small town. Her plan is simple: graduate high school. With Callie’s best friend away in college, she plans to spend … in college, she plans to spend her senior year skating by. Callie is not looking for friends, and especially not for love – all she needs are her waves and her twin brother. Even if he comes with an annoying best friend, Jamie Daniels, who she can’t stand.
Jamie is a care-free, easy-going surfer who has everything. His life appears perfect, but reality is far from it. He has his share of secrets, including one that burns deeper than any other. It’s a good thing Callie hates him because if she didn’t, Jamie knows there’s no way he’d be able to stay away.
And then, one night, everything changes. And nothing will ever be the same.

I absolutely love Michelle Lynn’s books. I don’t know how she does it, but her books keep sucking me into the story.
That being said, We Thought We Were Invincible (god, that’s a long title) was definitely not a let-down. It’s a young adult contemporary romance and follows how Callie McCoy and Jamie start growing towards each other as they work on a creative writing assignment together. But unfortunately, it seems like the whole world is keeping them apart…
Callie is strong. She is a loner but she owns up to it. I didn’t like her at first, but as she started to grow as a person I started to like and even respect her. Jamie however? I loved him throughout the whole book. Marry me please.
The book is more character driven than plot driven. I’d say all the characters grow one way or another (except maybe Jay, I’m sorry Jay I really don’t like you). With an exception of the night, there wasn’t a real plot in the book. We Thought We Were Invincible is filled with cliches though, but I’m a sucker for cliches.
If you enjoy character-driven contemporary romance, I’d definitely read the book. Michelle Lynn never disappoints and seeing the characters in the story grow is amazing.
A well written story by an Author I have not read before I will be reading the next book. This book ends on a cliff-hanger. Callie and Jamie will have so much to get through in their younger years, Jamie’s biggest hurtle is his father. He left ten years ago and joined the Army and is now back, I wonder what is going to happen now in their story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The well written storyline and the well rounded characters kept me turning the pages of this nice read until the very last page! This was the first book that I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more!
I wanted to cry. This was a beautiful story. I felt for Callie and Jamie. I wouldn’t say this is a feel good story. It’s more about things that happen in life. The things that can break you and the things that can heal you. I love the ending because it left room for more; more of Jamie and Callie. I hope they get their happy ending. Maybe it won’t be pretty, but hopefully it will be an ending they deserve.
BETTER PREPARE YOURSELF!!!
Ah, man. This is a tough one. I’m just gonna jump right in. Brilliantly written, easy to follow, smooth flowing read thats as gut wretching as it is heartbreaking. This really hits to close to home. Not my life close, but a freind and it was infuriating. The characters are relatable and unpredictable as surprises and twists and turns that captures your attention and holds it until the end. I was hooked from the beginning my attention solely focused on the tale. I couldn’t put it down. I have to say I have no idea how Michelle could put herself in this position, but I don’t believe anyone else could have pulled this read into the light and draw it out. Open it up and take it apart. An admirable skill, I think I’m in awe of Michelle. The scenes were so realistic that you could actually feel the pain, the sadness. Yeah, that’s the gut wretching. Just visualizing what these young people went through, it’s heartbreaking. With a full range of emotions that cut you to the core. Michelle has expertly brought this read to vivid, in color, bright as the sun to life.
