“Fighting the Flames” (Where There’s Smoke 1) by Em Petrova is a great read. I loved Maddox and Sydney’s story! This story is packed full of emotion, passion, action, hot firefighters, interesting and entertaining characters, and more. I’m looking forward to reading more about these smokejumpers! Highly recommend to all fans of romance, hot firefighters, and hot reads.

Book Review: Fighting the Flames (Where There’s Smoke Book 1)
Author: Em Petrova
FIVE STARS
Sydney, once a city firefighter, lost her husband while he was on a mission to stop a raging brush fire. She is trying to move on and close the past.
She is caught in a wildfire and is rescued by the smoke jumpers that worked with her husband. We meet Maddox learn that he and Sydney have an attraction now that they never knew they had.
Will they be able to fight the fires raging across the land and kindle their own romance?
Love my KU subscription as it allows me to find books like this.

Great introduction to the new series about smoke jumpers. The training and stress these professionals go through is described in detail. The characters are realistic and captivating. The romance that develops between the firefighter and his friend’s widow is deep and charming. With a lead in book like this one the series is sure to be a winner.

This is a story about moving on after a loss and how dealing with the guilt.
Sydney is moving on after the loss of her husband and starting to get her life back on track. Maddox was her husbands friend and co-worker. Sydney is strong and feisty, she is a woman who knows what she wants and makes it happen. Maddox is a broody Alpha male who is fighting Sydney every step of the way.
There were times that even though I understood Maddox and his thought process, I didn’t like him. I think that Sydney eventually caved. It is a great book but Maddox needed to be suffer with his actions just a bit more.

Maddox is a smoke jumper trained to fight California’s wild fires. His mate and colleague Rob didn’t make it a few years ago. Rob’s widow Sydney is checking on her cabin when fire catches her unawares and is approaching fast. She and Maddox are thrown together fighting the fire in the surrounding area. Can they fight the fire that is sparking between them? Do they even want to? Maddox and Sydney were a couple that needed to come together to heal each other.
This story was a well written and enjoyable read with plenty of action and hot firemen. I highly recommend it.
