Kenzie and Coder are total opposites and are instantly attracted while first meeting at a house party. Intrigued with this young woman with memorizing eyes and wondering why would she be carrying a children’s book about trucks in her bag to a party, Coder is overly fascinated with Kenzie and begins calling her “Mack”. Kenzie is captivated with the handsome guy with the beautiful brown eyes, she takes note about every single detail about him including his boots and decides to call him “Motorcycle Boots”. As they get to know one another, the two realize that their connection may be the real thing.

4,5 stars
I was given a copy of this book by the New Adult Book Club and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.
The past month I was lucky enough to read some really good books, ‘Chasing after me’ is one of them. This isn’t the first book that I read from R.C. Martin. I have read a few books of her and one thing is for sure, with each new book the love scenes are becoming hotter and hotter.
Kenzie has a big heart, there’s no question about it. She gives love easily but that also means that she gets easily hurt. And when you’re volunteering in the children hospital at the cancer ward, you know that sometimes you have to say farewell for good.
Since a young girl, it has been Kenzie’s dream to become a doctor and to help find a cure for cancer. But lately she’s having doubts. Is becoming a doctor really a good choice for her?
Kenzie is a good student and a good girl so that means she isn’t really into partying. The fact that she’s shy also make that she doesn’t meet a lot of other people, especially boys. But that all changes when her roommate and best friend Brooke takes her out to a party. There Kenzie meets a guy, a guy with a deep voice and dark eyes. Although they only talk a little bit, Kenzie can’t stop thinking about him but she doesn’t think that she will sees him again until she meets him again on his workplace. Sadly her best friend Brooke has also an eye on him and when Brooks wants something she always gets it. But this time, things are different because Coder makes it clear that he wants Kenzie. They get to see each other and everything is going great except the fact that Kenzie is hiding their ‘relationship’ from Brooke. Something that Coder isn’t happy about. But that’s not Kenzie’s only problem. She also struggles with her decision to become a doctor and with her faith. Soon she will have to make a few tough decisions but luckily she’s not alone. She has Coder on her side to help her with her problems.
One thing that makes R.C. Martin stories a little bit different than other books that I read is that she writes about faith too. Stories about someone finding faith or someone losing it and then finding it again. Faith is part of the story and although I don’t usually read books with this theme. I like the way that R.C. Martin writes about it because she’s not afraid to write about both sides, the hard part about believing and the easy part.
Although ‘Chasing after me’ is part of a series, you don’t have to read the other books to read this one. This story is told from Kenzie POV and I love the glimpse that the writer gave us from their future.
I totally fell in love with the characters, Kenzie is a shy, kind, sweet and compassion girl with a big heart and Coder is more dominant but still gentle in many ways. I really loved both characters and their story but I must also confess that at the end of the book I got the feeling that I was missing something. And even after thinking about it for a while I still don’t know what it was. I think that I just didn’t expected a such sweet story. And it was a very sweet story! Usually I’m used to a little drama in my NA books but here I didn’t really find one.
So if you’re looking for a sweet love story with some hot love scenes in it, you have to give this book a try.
4.5 Stars ~ I freakin’ love Coder and Kenzie!!!!
RC Martin has a tremendous way of telling a story that you feel invested in and this one was no different. These characters were easy to fall in love with and made you want to keep reading their story. She had me from the beginning, hook, line and sinker….
I liked how Coder was able to pull Kenzie out of her shell, help her work through tough times and hard decisions with an open mind and huge heart.
I ask myself, how did I not read this one before now? What other RC Martin GEMS am I missing??
