I wish the books were offered in a box set when I started reading them! Bree Wolf has included the first four novels in her “Love’s Second Chance Series”. Each is a full length clean romance complete with foreshadowing, interesting characters, epilogues that complete the current story but lead you well into the next.
These books were great. I enjoyed every single one. They only got better as the books author progressed in the series. By the end of the fourth book I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed them! I will definitely be getting the second box set. They were witty, romantic, and filled with strong women (and men) characters. The storylines by the end of the fourth book was just excellent. It really started to make me think about the plot.
All the characters were those to cheer for, especially as each is involved in a second chance for happiness. A very pleasant read.
Easy romances to read when you want to relax without any bizarre or scary events.
Enjoyed this series. Purchased because I had previously read “Forgotten and Remembered.” Each book stands alone, but it was interesting how the lives of many of these characters intersected. Regency era very interesting.
Enjoyable books relaxing reads
These were excellent novellas that are like Bree Wolf’s Second Chance series, but are shorter in length. They do tie into one another, yet they are each stand-alone books too. I would recommend these books. Clean romance with HEA.
These stories are addictive! There is one thing that I didn’t like much, characters ideas and inner thoughts are sometimes repeated over and over along the story and it is a little annoying.
Love’s Second Chance Series ( Tales of Lords and Ladies Books 1-7; Tales of Damsels and Knights Books 1-5 )
1. Book 1: Forgotten & Remembered: The Duke’s Late Wife:5 stars
I received a free copy of the clean historical romance Forgotten & Remembered: The Duke’s Late Wife (Love’s Second Chance: Tales of Lords & Ladies Book 1) by Bree Wolf and my review was given freely.
This is a well-written, well-rounded, clean, historical Romance.. The characters seem real making it easy to get involved with the emotions and conflicts throughout the book. I am looking forward to the sequel.
2. Book 2: Cursed & Cherished: The Duke’s Willful Wife:5 stars
I purchased a copy of the clean historical romance Cursed & Cherished: The Duke’s Wilful Wife (Love’s Second Chance: Tales of Lords & Ladies Book 2) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
This is another well-written clean Historical Romance. The foreshadowing hints at the underlying plots without fully giving it away. This is another well-written love story filled with conflict between the main couple, Anna’s family, and her best friend. The conflicts provide just enough spice and intrigue to keep you hooked. Of course like all good love stories, the ending is a happy one and lends a sense of completeness to the story, yet hints at a sequel.
3. Book 3: Abandoned & Protected: The Marquis’ Tenacious Wife:4 stars
I received a free copy of the clean historical novel Abandoned & Protected: The Marquis’ Tenacious Wife (Love’s Second Chance: Tales of Lords and Ladies, #3) by Bree Wolf, and this review was given freely.
This is the fourth novel in the series. It takes a slightly different slant in that it involves a Scottish clan rather than English Nobility. Abandoned and Protected contains another strong female main character, Harriet, her many struggles with her past and accepting love. Like the last 3 novels, the end of the book contains a cliffhanger. Unlike the last three novels, the epilogue does not complete the story, It was an excerpt or a second cliffhanger that reinforced the potential of Tristan’s death that was hinted at in the end of the main story.
4. Book 4: Betrayed & Blessed: The Viscount’s Shrewd Wife:5 stars
I received a free copy of the clean historical romance Betrayed & Blessed: The Viscount’s Shrewd Wife (Love’s Second Chance: Tales of Lords & Ladies) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Betrayed & Blessed is a well-written full-length clean Regency Romance that has it all. Tristan and Elisabeth rise above family abuse and treachery to form a happy and loving marriage. Tristan’s Sister Henrietta and her husband Connor’s mad journey, to save Tristan, is continued in the end of this novel. The Dowager/Grandmother is a strong woman who is not afraid to give her opinion and is skilled in subtle manipulation and insults. Hints are given regarding who I think will be the next couple in the series. And of course, the happy ending.
These four excellent romances by Bree Wolf hit just the right notes. The characters fit their roles (prickly or innocent or damaged or innocent or determined) within the stories. In each book a woman and man are wed to one another, usually barely having met one another. One of the characters is portrayed as strong, compassionate, and sensible while the partner is fighting some kind of demon rooted in the past. Eventually each pair finds a deep and abiding love, and happiness fills the world,
Four unique stories full of promise and romance. The characters are well developed and the plots are so well written that the pages keep turning so you can see what happens next!
I enjoyed each story individually but to honest it is so much richer to see the interconnection of the characters. It becomes a big family.
I look forward to reading the next box set of the series!!
Each of these books I have read and reviewed separately and enjoyed them all. However, this box set allows a reader to satisfyingly binge read all four books nonstop. I picked out some of my favorite parts from each book to read again. But ‘Despised and Desired’ I read all the way through again. I also provided a brief summary of each book below.
Forgotten and Remembered
A relentless test in psychological will. Such a heartfelt story of love and loss but the end result will find you smiling and rejoicing.
Cursed and Cherished
A love hard won but satisfying
Despised and Desired
I have read many books written by Bree Wolf and this one by far is my favorite. This story deeply touches the heartstrings. So many words of wisdom are written in these pages and Ms Wolf said them well. I love Frederick and Ellie. I appreciated their struggles at the beginning of their marriage and was overjoyed when they finally found their true happiness in the end. I highly recommend reading this book.
Abandoned and Protected
This was a hard book to get through because of all the emotions and because the subject matter was so close to home. Many husbands nowadays could use a lesson from this guy. This is an excellent psychological lesson for all.
I heartily recommend this box set to all lovers of historical romance with unique psychological lessons in them that we could all take to heart.
The whole series was amazing. I think what I loved most was that they were ‘clean’ . It was such a pleasure to read – all the heart-wrenching emotions, romance that makes your heart skip a beat, and suspense without the ‘nasties’. A lot of ‘clean books’ lack these, unfortunately, so if you enjoy them make sure to read these!
I liked each book, looking forward to the next one
REALISTIC REGENCY!!!
A well written and easy follow olots as this series wind up. Bree did an excellent job coupling her main characters to olay off well together. Their personalities complimented each other, with realistic details to bring each story to life. Clean historical regency in all its glory.
I read all but the final story in this collection and I only liked one of the stories. For me, the men were pretty awful. A lot of misogyny but the women love them anyway nonsense. Not worth the $2.00 I paid.
I read all four of these full length, stand-alone books a while ago and this is basically what I had to say about each of them.
1. Forgotten & Remembered
A beautiful historical romance where the words flow off the pages effortlessly.
I loved the strength of Rosabel to hold her own and her understanding of Graham’s position and attitude, her willingness to explore life and her love for a child that she makes her own. All of this made it a very entertaining tale which I really enjoyed. I am very happy to recommend this story.
2. Cursed & Cherished
I am loving the way this author writes. Its so easy to read with just enough excitement, passion, strength of characters and everything that makes one want to read more of her books.
In this story Anna is forced to marry Edmond who is a bankrupt Duke so that she can prevent her sister having to marry him instead of being able to marry her current love match.
The cat and mouse games between Anna and Edmond are soooo brilliantly funny that I found myself laughing many a time. Gosh, but she is so very headstrong and has such fixed ideas of how things should be between them and is very badly advised by her “friend” on how all men are bad and are not to be trusted.
Luckily the warmth of love and eventual trust that builds between them saves the day.
I am very happy to recommend this story as a clean, romantic, enjoyable and entertaining historical novel. Enjoy!
3. Despised & Desired
This is Ellie and Frederick’s story and what a story it is!
Both have issues and are scarred – she is physically scarred and he, mentally, but she is a compassionate and strong young lady who has decided that it is better to face reality and continue with life, helping those she can as she lives her life.
She really has to work hard to get through to Frederick, but she does and how she goes about this is what this book is all about.
It is a great story, filled with the building of trust between Ellie and the various people whose lives she touches. It also tells of the love between her and her husband.
At various points in this story their lives are put into jeopardy and by working together they manage to solve the mystery of who is the guilty party and the why.
A beautiful love story that I am happy to recommend.
4. Abandoned & Protected
Henrietta is plagued by an incident in her past where her mother and father die. Her uncle eventually marries her off to Connor, the new leader of a clan and she tries desperately to fight of her demons from her past and with Connor’s love and understanding she tears aways at them slowly but surely.
This is a delightful story written by Bree Wolf for her Love’s Second Chance Series and one can happily read it as a stand-alone.
I found myself empathizing with Henrietta’s difficult decisions and her desperation and frustration when she realizes that she really does feel something for this man that she was married to. Connor on the other hand is unselfish, loving and caring (I want one just like him please!). Together they make this story come alive and I happily recommend it as an exciting page-turner that you might just find hard to put down.
