All Elizabeth Marshall wants to do is start over in the small town of Springfield, Ohio where no one knows her. The old, three-story, Victorian house seems like the perfect place to heal from the scars of her past and rebuild her life, but her plans quickly get derailed when she meets her upstairs neighbor. Christopher Daniels is all alpha male—tall, broad shoulders, and dark brown eyes that … brown eyes that seem to be able to look into her soul. His sharp attitude the first time they meet puts her on edge, but then he goes and offers her a job at his construction company. The more they work together, the more the lines between professional and personal begin to blur and she finds herself letting her guard down.
.
As they turn up the heat on their relationship, she finds herself forced to confront her insecurities…and the secrets she’s been trying to put behind her. But just as Elizabeth thinks she might get her second chance at finding love and a happily ever after, someone from her past has decided they aren’t ready to let go.

This is my first book by this author and I am Already downloading book 2! Elizabeth and Christopher each deserve one another. Both have love and lost, although in different ways. I really like how the author made the characters come alive. The story move at a good speed and had me turning page after page until I finished this book in one sitting! I would definitely recommend this book!
This was the first time I have ever read anything by Ms. Hayes. I can honestly say it won’t be the last either. This book kept me wanting to read more. This is the story of Elizabeth and Chris. Elizabeth moved to Springfield Ohio from Colmbus after her husband died to start over from her previous life. Chris is her neighbor in Springfield and owns a construction company. Elizabeth ends up working for Chris when he desperately needed it. They strike up a friendship that ends up being more. Once you start this book you will not be able to put it down.
I loved everything about this book – Behind Closed Doors – by Sherri Hayes. She did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life, kept the mystery alive and I didn’t realize who the “bad” person was until the end. I certainly look forward to reading more from this author. Chris and Elizabeth had a rough beginning, however, it became a story I could not put down. Recommend this one, you will not be disappointed.
Behind Closed Doors is book 1 in the Daniels Brother Series.
Elizabeth Marshall has moved to Springfield in attempt to reclaim/rebuild her life.
Christopher Daniels is living in the upstairs apartment. Neither are happy about living within close proximity of each other. Both having baggage from significant others in their past.
Before long through their land lady Elizabeth is working for Christopher. It’s supposed to be temparily. But her dedication to the job and work ethic is just too good to be true.
On a business trip Elizabeth’s past comes into play and instead of Christopher turning his back he proves that he has Elizabeth’s back. He is her protector.
I love the dynamics that these two have.
This is the first book I have read by Sherri and I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Behind Closed Doors by Sherri Hayes
The first book in The Daniels Brothers series, Behind Closed Doors, is filled with romance and danger. Elizabeth Marshall wants to leave the drama of her past and identity behind. Moving to a new town to start over seems to be the answer but a business trip puts her back into the sight of an unwanted stalker and a mother in law bent on revenge. The attraction between Elizabeth and her boss, Christopher Daniels, offers the security she’s lacking and the support of the Daniels family. Together they are able to meet the dangers that threaten Elizabeth.
This is an exciting and suspenseful read. I enjoyed it enough to read the rest of the Daniels Brothers series. Behind Closed Doors, Red Zone, Crossing the Line and What Might Have Been by Sherri Hayes are well written, enjoyable and do not disappoint. I highly recommend this author and this series.
