EXCERPT
“Okay. I’m willing to consider it. I’ll call you tomorrow morning,” I tell him finally.
“Thank you,” he says, sounding relieved, and hands me his card before he leaves.
“Ready for a little adventure …?” I ask Emma, who is not quite as enthusiastic as I am.
“You’re completely crazy,” she accuses me.
“Aren’t you curious to find out where this story might lead us?”
“Not if it could get us killed.”
“Oh, Emma, stop. We’re in our hometown, surrounded by friends and family. There’s someone we know around every corner; nothing’s going to happen to us.”
“Don’t say that! You’ll jinx yourself!” she scolds me. “I hope you come to your senses by tomorrow,” she adds on her way out.

Ally writes a very popular blog and one of her blogs is about a writer who writes historical novels. But she uncovers that his writing is not historically accurate and she publishes this in her blog, leaving the writer unhappy and she gets a few emails from the writer’s assistant. The writer comes to town to do a signing and his assistant dies right in front of Ally! Ally ends up on the list of suspects and decides right then to investigate!
This is a fun, fast read, with great characters, that you won’t want to put down until you can finally find out who really committed the murder!

Ally is a blogger and she wrote an article about an author calling him out for not being truthful. Now someone has died and she and the author are both suspects. Along with her friends, she is working to solve the mystery. There are a lot of characters and keeping them all straight was a little work but the story is well written and there are lots of twists and turns.

Our heroine is a blog writer that gets in a bit of hot water. Now she has a murder to solve before she becomes the next victim.
I often struggle with first books in a series as too much time is spent on establishing the setting and characters and not so much on the plot. I am happy to report that is not the case here! We are still treated to a detailed setting and well developed characters, but we also get a thoroughly enjoyable plot to go with it. The story is well written and easy to read, while the plot has plenty of twists and turns to both keep you engaged and guessing at the same time. I particularly liked out heroine with her quirky sense of humor and easy going nature. Overall, it was a wonderful read and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Highly recommended.
I received an ARC from the author for review purposes.
This charming blog writer is surrounded by amazing friends and a quaint and charming, yet quirky, town.
Being real in a review suddenly puts her in the spotlight for murder
Read on to enjoy how some small town charms work for and against her!

I enjoyed Once Upon a Novel – a short mystery. These is some great character development in the story. I hope there will be more than two books with these characters as I was not ready to see them gone! The mystery has a few twists. Since the book is relatively short I was able to read it in one sitting which was good because I did not want to put it down!
My interest was captured from the beginning and kept me guessing the outcome until the end!
