I believe in fairy tales ? the kind where a knight in shining armor sweeps me off my feet. Coming from a broken home, fairy tales housed the hope I clung to. Never in my life did I imagine two knights coming into my life? two knights that wore very different armor.A rockstar versus a lawyer.Fast and furious versus deliberate and calculated.Intense and passionate versus strong and devoted.Chaos … versus stability.I fell in love with one in the craziness of a concert. I fell in love with the other in the silence of his compassion. And now I am Torn Between Two.

Play it safe or go for the bad boy? Josh(lawyer) or Hawke(Rock Star) These are decisions too hard to decide. For 23 year old Samantha, she will have to make this decision and heart and head will some day become one. These characters are so real with problems of today’s world and this young woman has a tender heart for both men, but passion for only one it seems. Also at the top of her desires is going to culinary school…so “Sunshine”, as Hawke calls her, has a lot on her plate. Mia keeps the interest going with a new twist around every corner and I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
(3.75 stars)
Sam meets two men- one calls her Sunshine and the other Princess. One is wild and unstable and the other sweet and safe. At first I didn’t even think there was a choice. I ended up really liking the story even though in the beginning I didn’t know if I was supposed to like Hawk. With a lack of connection to that character it was hard to understand at first what she saw in him and why she would want to be in that lifestyle. Throughout the story both guys open up to her and you can begin to feel her connection to both of them. With the book ending the way it did I can’t wait to dive into book two to see how all this pans out.
Sammy is at a crossroads. Should she go with the sweet lawyer or the out there rockstar? Hawke is a man who goes in hard and fast He doesn’t beg or settle he just goes. Josh on the other hand falls fast and with everything he has. He is also patient and calculating. To pick between these isn’t a joke or easy for Sammy.
An amazing read. Especially if you like a book that will take you on an emotional ride. Torn Between Two is a ride worth taking. I so would not want to be in Sam’s shoes or maybe I would. Sam is trying to start over in life and boy is she doing it a big way. On one hand you have the rocker Hawke and who wouldn’t want a hot rock star. He goes after Sam and works on breaking down her walls for the moment they meet. Oh how do those sparks sure do fly. Then on the other you have the shoe salesman/lawyer Josh and well he is more of a slow burn you don’t see coming. Both have their positives and negatives and when the past starts to come back you can feel the struggle with Sam. This book is an amazing read and leaves you on the edge of wonder. I so can’t wait to read the next book to find out. I love the chemistry between Hawke and Sam and Josh and Sam. I really wouldn’t know who I’d pick at this point. I’m loving Mia Kayla’s books and I can’t wait for more from her.
Torn between two… the title says it all.
I am not normally a fan of love triangles but the author handled this very well.
We have the dependable reliable Josh and the very charismatic Hawke. Both as opposite as they come, and both want Sam.
But warning… the first book ends on a hell of a cliffhanger.
Book 2 picks right up where book 1 left off. Let’s just say I’m glad I didn’t have to wait.
Who will Sam pick…
This book took me on a rollercoaster of feelings.
So sit back and enjoy the ride.
Torn Between Two and is the first book I have read by Mia Kayla, and I must say it was an emotional ride. We start the story with Sam meeting Hawke after a concert. The connection is immediate, and their relationship begins. From the beginning, you can sense there is more darkness to Hawke than Sam is willing or able to see. She is really blinded by all that is Hawke Calvin.
Shortly after meeting Hawke, Sam meets Josh. He has his own story, but you can see his attraction to Sam is immediate. I noticed that even the reader is drawn into making comparisons between Hawke and Josh. The story from then is Samantha journeying through the phases, emotions, and pitfalls of her relationships with both men. It is a very rough ride at times, and there were a couple of times I wanted to scream at her, “just stop!” But our story wouldn’t be our story if she did.
There’s angst; there’s laughter, and there are tears. The story is bittersweet and leaves you wishing it was possible to fix people. Unfortunately, we can’t. It does after all the emotion give the happily ever after, but it is a costly one. The reader is left still feeling the impact of the story a couple of days later. This story is deserving of the investment of your time to get to know Samantha, Hawke, and Josh.
And the dual epilogues at the end are perfect. I am now looking forward to reading more by Mia Kayla.
This book is the first of a two part duet, and it does end in a cliffhanger.
I loved the storyline for this book. Sam is a young determined girl, working as a sous chef and following a path toward having her own restaurant someday. She isn’t really looking for love and then within a short time she meets two men, Hawke the lead singing rock star who just oozes sex, he’s dark, yet vulnerable and she’s totally besotted by him. Then we have Josh, sweet, tender and charming. One she loves more than she feels he loves her, the other she loves as a friend but his feelings for her are a lot deeper. One might crush her heart, the other would protect it.
The author doesn’t make this journey easy and makes a fantastic job of pulling your emotions both ways. At times i felt torn, with who she should chose. Other times i wanted to pull Sam aside and tell her to stop being a doormat !!! Hawke was totally captivating, yet i found it hard to try to get to know him, there is so much to him and i really want him to step up for her. Yet Josh, was so sweet, but at times i felt he was just too nice. Both these guys love her, but you wonder if they both need her to save them or if one of them will save her. The author does a brilliant job of leading you and your emotions in all directions, and i found my heart being owned equally by both hero’s. I cannot wait for the next part !! The sooner the better !!!
The box set consists of the following: –
#1 Torn between Two
This is a well written box set which is a love triangle about Sam, bad boy rocker Hawke, and sweet lawyer Josh. This story is an emotional roller coaster journey throughout as well as a fast-paced read. Sam is stuck with a dilemma about who to choose between the bad boy and the safe bet. No spoilers through, this story deserves to be read.
#2 Choosing Forever
This story continues straight on from where #1 ended, and choices need to be made. Sam is trying to put her life back together and there are a few curveballs thrown into the mix which certainly kept me on my toes throughout.
This is a well written box set which had me totally intrigued and hooked throughout, and I highly recommend this talented authors’ work for all.
Samantha has been forced to take life too seriously for far too long, so with her best friend’s urging she decides to do something wild and uninhibited. Which leads her to a bar, and sharing a steamy kiss with famous rock star. But the night doesn’t end there, when Hawke proposes they go back to his hotel and get to know one another. Sam knows she shouldn’t, as she will just be another faceless woman to him, but you only live once so she does it… and it leads somewhere she never thought was possible!
But her encounter with sexy rock star Hawke isn’t her only man, she also meets a sexy shoe salesman a few days later, and Josh is everything a girl could possibly want. He’s sweet, funny, and has a drool-worthy body that she can’t seem to pry her eyes from. They start out as close friends but somewhere along the way the line starts to get blurry… and things get complicated, so very complicated.
Watching this one unfold was not only thoroughly enthralling, but tough on the heart too. While I saw something likable within both men, I found my interest moving closer to Josh right off. Hawke made it so hard to like him at times, his life was so troubled and it lead him to make many questionable decisions, and I hated seeing Sam being pulled into them. He had her on a string, and just when she was about to break free from him he would jerk her back in, the push and pull between them was downright torturous! I could see the appeal he held, and why she kept going back, I suppose sometimes love makes you blind. Josh was everything she should want, but she seem to struggle to see it at first, but I held out hope she would see his prettiness! I absolutely loved this one, the moment my eyes hit the first page I was hooked, the characters were so entrancing. I cannot wait to see how this one all plays out…and who she picks to keep her heart forever! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
I must admit, it took me a couple of days to really wrap my mind round this book series before I could write a review. I read them back to back, and I’m so glad I did because there is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of this book.
For starters, let me say I love all things Mia Kayla. She’s a phenomenal author, and this book showcases her talent. From a strong story line, a good pace, and a beautiful prose, Mia once again delivers.
You have a bit of sweet, a bit of naughty, and a whole lot of spice. Though I will admit, I struggled some with the heroine and her choices, my attention was never lost and I kept going, because I had to know things were going to end.
Hawke.
What makes a bad boy taste so good?
“He tasted like cigarettes, beer, and one hundred percent bad boy.”
What a combo.
I LOVED this first half of this duet. I love a good triangle, especially when I don’t know which corner to hang out in.
I cannot wait for the conclusion!
liked the story for the most part but I found myself frustrated with Sam. Sam was a contradiction. She wants steady and reliable, someone to love her and be there for her and yet she will drop everything for Hawke, who seems to forget about her until he’s in town or when he needs something/someone. Where as Josh is there, he’s everything she says she wants but she doesn’t see him. Maybe because he’s just a regular guy and not this big personality like Hawke. I would have dropped Hawke like a hot potato the minute Josh looked at me. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it. The opinions and views on it are my own.
Torn Between Two was a good read. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and it definitely won’t be my last. Samantha “Sammy” has two men who are willing to give her their hearts but their feelings for her just might be enough. They all have a past that seems to cling to them in a negative ways. However, Sammy is so determined to make her dreams come true and as determined as she is to make her dreams come true, I wish her character didn’t come off as being so weak. That is the only thing I disliked about Sammy, she let a lot of things go and I couldn’t believe she let it go so easily. Hawke Calvin is lead singer of Def Deception; he’s flirtatious, rough edged yet sexy, irresistible and everything she wants. Josh Stanton works in a shoe store at night goes to school during the day to be a lawyer. He is more than meets the eye; he’s charming, beautifully handsome, caring and sweet. I know who I want to see Sammy with. This story ends with a major cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see how everything plays out.
I am one of those readers that enjoys reading books filled with drama and angst and knowing that this book entailed a love triangle of sorts I was hooked by the synopsis. Little did I know that this was a different kind of read that I was not expecting.
“Because…I’m lonely.”
Torn between the rockstar, Hawke Calvin from Def Deception and the lawyer, Joshua Stanton. To start we have a musician who Samantha Clarke has been a huge fan over. She was excited and star stuck when she first caught sight of Hawke in person and was surprisingly lucky to meet him up close and personal. That in turn lead to more than she expected and causing her to have a weakness and a soft spot whenever it comes to him. Then we have the lawyer who she randomly met while shopping. Josh is charming and filled with lines that will have you smiling and laughing at his attempt for more and who seems to brings a side of herself that she rarely let anyone see. The question is…who is the person worth risking her heart over the long run?
It was his imperfect soul and creative, destructive, mind.
Hmmmm to go for the fast and overwhelming bad boy or steady and simple handsomely adorable man? Intense feeling like no other or someone who is sweet, compassionate and filled with hearts and flowers romantic? Never ending chaos versus goal oriented and stability? Sam is torn by two people she is connecting with and is believer of fairy tales entailing happily ever afters. She wants her own story of love and relationship but who is her knight in shining armor that will win her over at the end?
“Life’s a box of shit sometimes.”
Of course with every type of love story there is something that is holding off their decision. Sam has a history that she is having a hard time dealing with. Both men have something in common that she can relate with causing her mind and heart to spin out of place. Just when she is at the point where she may have chosen her path we are left with a cliffy that will have you wanting the next book stat!
Torn Between Two is so good that I read it in one night… I could NOT put it down! When it comes to romance novels, I tend to migrate towards stories that are monogamous, enemies to lovers type stories. I was worried I would not liking the main character, Samantha, having two love interests but it was more than that. She has the sexy, bad boy, Hawke, and a more friendly, lovable Josh. I was quickly pulled into Samantha’s life and the ups and downs of both relationships. This book was intense and amazing! Thank you NetGalley for gifting me this book.
I loved Chloe she was an amazing friend Sam. Sam decided to take a chance on a one night stand. Hawke wants Sam but it is only when it is convenient for him. Sam meets Josh by chance in a shoe store. 2 different men who does Sam chose to own her heart.
I loved this book! I got finished with it and immediately had to start the second book. Such great characters! You hate Sam for a little while but you can’t help but know you would probably do the same thing in her place. Josh is AMAZING!!! I want a Josh for myself!
Wow, just wow! This story was amazing!
I have never read anything from this author but you know I like stories about Rock Stars and boys in bands and this one doesn’t disappoint.
Being torn between rock God Hawke Calvin and lawyer to be, Josh Stanton is daunting. Samantha is a pastry sous chef with plans for her life that include becoming a top chef. Sam is involved with both and they could not be more different. Each bring out a side of her that the other doesn’t. Will she choose the rocker who treats her like a plaything or will she go for the stable, caring man? She seems to know in her heart, who makes it flutter. Sam wants to fix the mistakes of her mom from the past. There is definitely a tug of war going on with her heart. And this leaves you with a cliffhanger and wanting more!

This book has all the things I love about books…a great story line, romance, drama, etc. This author will definitely be added to my must read list. Can’t wait to read the second in the series to find out what happens.
