I love these books because I love that you actually know what the characters are thinking, This is a great series it really keeps your interest. I have learned a lot about a group of people I knew very little about before.
An utterly addicting read from start to finish. Having loved this author’s other series I was little leary about this new series was about survivalists and homegrown militia. The first book intrigued me in meeting Mercy Kilpatrick and learning about her childhood of being raised by survivalists who then ended up being shunned by her family and that situation was made worse when she became an FBI agent. But this book, I’m am now hooked line and sinkered in this world the author has created. The words and story just flowed and I am ensconced with all the characters.
The town of Eagle’s Nest, Oregon certainly has quite the left wing, right wing, and all over the place wing citizens. Mercy and her FBI team and her love interest Sheriff Truman Daly certain have their hands full trying to keep law and order. After this book I cannot wait to see what what’s next for Mercy and Truman along with Mercy’s family.
One of the first books of her that I have read. It is a romance, mystery. Loved it and plan on reading all of her books.
Good follow up to the first book in the series, but could also stand alone. I will read more in this series but I don’t feel the urgent need I felt at the beginning of the first book. It did keep me guessing until near the end.
I chose this book because someone recommended it to me. Also because the location is only 3 hours away in Bend, OR. I enjoyed reading it —- and the surprise ending! I couldn’t put it down —- even read way past my bedtime!
Good
Definitive better then the first book of this series. Will go for the third. I enjoyed the characters and the story.
I can’t say this enough – I LOVE Kendra!!!
I do not believe in revealing the entire plot, spoilers, or revealing character traits. With that said, this is the second book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series.
I was drawn in from the first page. There are twists, turns, and even a surprise or two. Mercy and Truman are a great team even if Mercy isn’t ready to acknowledge it yet. The secondary characters really help suck you in. Some you will automatically love (Rose) and some NOT so much, but I will let you decide who they are.
If you are looking for some really hot sex scenes, than this book is not for you. If you want just the right amount of intrigue, some violence, a little murder and mayhem, family with a few issues, and a couple of slap you in the face surprises than you NEED to read this book – actually you need to read the entire series.
I am looking forward to book #3! Thanks for the great adventure Kendra!
This is a captivating murder mystery that quickly pulls you into the thrilling storyline and also into the lives of the great characters. Mercy Kilpatrick is an FBI agent with a secret. She is sent back to the town she grew up in and left as a teen, to investigate the deaths of “preppers” (people living off the grid and preparing for the end of society as we know it). The scars of her prep upbringing and the secrets she hides are slowly revealed and you can not help but become attached to this flawed, intelligent, lonely but driven woman. The twists in the storyline and her complex family relationships will keep you turning the pages to find where the story leads next. The slow burn development of her and police chief, Truman Daly’s relationship is enthralling; each character having their own demons, secrets and insecurities to overcome before allowing anyone close. The mellow, honest, caring and inquisitive nature of Truman’s personality makes him a character you immediately like and I look forward to seeing him and Mercy tackle more cases in the future. Even though this is the first book in a new series, it is a stand-a-lone story. It has mystery, action, intrigue, lots of twists and the start of a great romance that will keep you entertained to the very last page. I will look forward to reading the next book in the series and seeing where Truman and Mercy’s relationship will take them
the mercy kilpatrick character is complex, needy and smart. Kendra Elliott brings forth these characteristics without punching you in the face with it
