First off, the cover is gorgeous and so perfect to the story! Well done there.
Rachel’s mother, though strong and admirable, needs a fresh start. Rachel is wounded, too, but doesn’t want to leave her childhood home and all her beautiful memories and friends. When she packs her bags and leaves without complaint–all for love of her mother–I instantly admired her. She’s a highly likeable character, but Paul is even more so.
The ideal male character to me is bold, hardy, daring, uber-masculine, and a leader of men. Amish heroes don’t typically make the cut, but Paul does. He’s a skilled carpenter and builder, and he owns his own construction company. He bucks conventions, and even though he’s a pacifist, he protects the girl he loves. I enjoyed every one of his scenes and thought Cindy did a fine job crafting him.
You’ll enjoy him, I promise you!
The story too. Rachel’s discovery and quick appreciation of the Amish way of life was a fun road to walk, and since we walk it with Paul, all the better!
I have no regrets on this purchase, and you won’t either.
Cindy Patterson’s tender novel about a love that blooms between a young English woman and an Amish man unfolds in a warmhearted and memorable story that will leave you feeling satisfied that all is as it should be for them.
Rachel and her mom move to Amish county to escape their grief. Paul goes to work for Rachel’s mom to help make some needed repairs to their new home and property.
Sensing a growing, and forbidden, relationship between himself and Rachel, Paul tries hard to back off before it’s too late. But the love between them can’t be denied.
And so we follow the slow, tender build of their love for each other and watch as they overcome the obstacles to their future together.
The author is respectful of the Amish faith, while showing that things have a way of working out in the path to true love. Her writing is rich in detail of the Amish countryside and people so that you feel as if you are living the story along with the characters, cheering them on till the end.
This was my first book from this author. I look forward to read the next one.
After Rachel Adam’s dad passed away, her mom uproots her and they move to Paradise, Pennsylvania, Florida. Rachel isn’t too keen on the move, that is until she meets Paul, a good-looking, teen, one year older than her. Her mom employed him to renew an old house she bought. The chemistry surges between them but there is one big problem for them developing a relationship. Paul is Amish and his faith forbids him to be unequally yoked. First off, we need more men in this world with Paul’s veracity. I was right away caught up in this story due to Cindy’s smooth yet fast paced writing style. Her characters are relatable and their dialogue is up to date. All in all, she has weaved a captivating tale full of integrity, love and faith. I’m a sucker for romance and this one is superb. Be prepared for some tugging on your heart strings.
I was so excited to see Cindy’s 2nd released and found I couldn’t put this one down either until I finished. Cindy is such a talented writer and brings you into the heart of the story which makes you feel you are there. Cindy, keep writing and I’ll keep reading.
Cindy Patterson did it again! She has written a heart-warming romance between two young people that touched me deeply. I couldn’t put this novel down once I started it. Not only is the story engaging, but her writing is beautiful. She is a truly talented story teller. I can’t wait for her next novel.
Interesting story about love between an Amish boy and “English” girl. Wasn’t sure how the author would resolve it happily for them both but mission accomplished!
