From a New York Times bestselling author comes a sexy, paranormal “rough-and-tumble adventure” (Library Journal) about a high-stakes romance between two shifters fighting for their lives. Cougar shifter Abby Carter always plays it safe. That’s why she’s an accountant–no excitement, no danger, and no cocky alpha males. She loves her quiet life, but fate has other plans. When Abby uncovers the … has other plans. When Abby uncovers the shady dealings of an anti-shifter organization, she’ll have to trust the too-sexy-for-her-peace-of-mind werewolf Declan Reed…or end up six feet under.
Declan Reed is starting over. After two years with Shifter Operations Command, it’s time to put his past behind him. Now Declan is the only thing standing between the gorgeous Abby and an early grave, and if he’s going to have any chance of keeping her alive, he’ll have to embrace the darkness he’s fought to keep at bay. But first he has to convince Abby that there’s no safer place in the world than the arms of a big bad werewolf.

A great story with action, intrigue, betrayal and damaged heroes. I’ve had this story in my Kindle for years and it got lost. I saw a tweet by the author and looked it up and now that I have read it, I am so angry with myself about the lost time, because this book was un-put-downable! Once I started reading it, I was instantly pulled into the drama of the plot, of the humor interspersed throughout, as well as that building intensity of the unfolding story arc. Declan and Abby had so much chemistry right from their first sight of each other that I kept hoping that his denial would end sooner than it did. I was so frustrated that the whole hero team were okay with putting Abby in danger at almost every turn, and then the whole Pike thing was insanely twisted, you’ll have to read it to the end to see what I mean. Birch was hard to like, and I totally expected Cole to pull some crazy twisted steal the girl bullsnit, because his inner thoughts were slightly creepy and not team centric. The one character that I hated throughout the story was Quade, the snake of a boss, and I still keep thinking his animal could not have been more appropriate to his characterization, he was shady to say the least. With all the twists and turns that this book took, I stayed glued to my Kindle to find out how things shook down. I’m moving on to Cole’s story now. Read this book!
it was awesome, excellent read , highly recommend.
This sure kept me on my toes. Lots of twists and turns. A group of shifters that are the best of the best and in charge of hunting down the group of humans out to exterminate all shifters. What is an accountant to do when she stumbles onto information about the financing of the hate group that wants all shifters dead. Run of course. Declan feels an extraordinary pull to Abby, he’s not sure why but he knows he would do everything in his power to save her, even if he doesn’t deserve her.
Can’t wait for the rest of the team to find their “one”.
Once again we get a great start to a new series by one of my favourite authors. Ms Kyle has managed to give us a new group to fall in love with and I cannot wait to learn all about them in their individual stories.
I was worried when I saw how many chapters there was but as I was getting closer to the end I kept thinking NO, I want more.
This book has so much going on and I do not plan to give too much away except to say we have goodies who are hot bad boys, baddies who need killing and lots of excitement and twists. Who is really bad and who is really good?
Abby is one hell of an understated heroine; she is a cougar shifter who has had a traumatised childhood due to a shifter hating organisation. Her strength shines through as this story progresses.
Declan seems bad to the bone, a natural killer, but when you hear why and how he started on his path you can do nothing but sympathise with him.
I loved this mad motley bunch of shifters who are closer than real family no matter how much they fight between themselves and cannot wait to read all their stories. Cole seems to be up next and that is wonderful as he really wanted what Declan and Abby have found.
This is my honest review of this book.
First in new series and it does not disappoint. Crazy rogue shifter teammates working for government SOC to take down Unified Humanity who are out to kill shifters. Well written, great storyline to keep you going. Secrets, danger, violence, sexy moments and funny parts to keep you wanting more. Hopefully the second in series will be out quick.
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. Also this author is new to me, and it won’t be my last.
Awesome story. Declan is a badass wolf and strong enough for Abby a cougar shifter. While Declan’s on a mission with his SHOC team, (sort of like the CIA for shifters), he sees Abby. She works for an accounting firm and she’s doing the doing the books for an outside company. She finds something she shouldn’t and her life is in danger. There are so many twists & turns but the story ends in an HEA. I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up
Also note, this was Book 2 in Day of the Dragon by Katie MacAlister and I left a separate review.
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!
The cover is beautifully done, and my favorite kind of shifter cover because it has both stunning beasts on the cover!
This is the first in a new series! It is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content. This book is about 368 pages long and all of it is an awesome read! I really need to start reading more of Celia’s work because she weaves an outstanding story and I have more than 30 of her books.
Abby is a fantastic lead and as Declan describes her she is a survivor. She has gotten through a lot as kid which is why she likes to play things safe. Declan is a sexy and dangerous Alpha. He thinks he is bad, but you find out he really isn’t. He is all about protecting like an Alpha should, but he also doesn’t take orders well which can and does cause some trouble. This book is non-stop action, and this series is a fantastic world that I can’t wait to read more of!
I highly recommend to shifter fans who like a variety of shifters with plenty of action and wise cracking Alphas!! I can’t wait to read Cole’s story when it comes out!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and loved it so much that I purchased a copy.
This was a fantastic read. There were times when I burst out in laughter. Then there were times of sadness. This book will take you on an emotional roller-coaster ride. I loved all of the characters and I can’t wait to read all of their stories.
If you love PN romances, then you will definitely enjoy this story. There is so much going on and the intrigue will keep you in suspense. I didn’t want to put this book down. I was able to read it in one day as it was SO GOOD. I highly recommend this story to all PN romance lovers.
OMG!!
This book right here!!! If anyone knows me they know how super picky I am when it comes to the paranormal genre. I received this book in the mail and I put it to the side since I was in the middle of another book. Later that night around 11pm I decided to read one chapter since this a new to me author and I wasn’t sure how I would like the story. Several hours later I had to FORCE myself to close this book. I kept playing the one more chapter game but sadly I had to go to the place that pays me and feeds my book addiction. From the first few chapters this book had me sucked in and wouldn’t let me go.
Declan is part of a special ops team called SHOC Team One. They don’t hide who they are and they aren’t hero’s so to speak. More like anti hero’s with a twist. The team is made up of a select few and they are all shifters. While on an observation task their subject, Abby, another shifter uncovered some information about her current job and her life is at risk. There is a group called Unified Humanity that is out to kill shifters and Abby finds out some info that puts her in danger. I really loved this aspect of this storyline. This is very original and way different from normal shifter storylines. Declan and Abby’s animal sides are attracted to each other from the beginning but the human side needs more work. And yes this is a delicious slow burn that is brewing and I loved every minute of it. I enjoyed not only seeing Declan and Abby’s animal side fall in love as well. Usually in shifter books we are told how their animal feels but in this book we saw the cougar and wolf bond and it was nice seeing.
As the story progresses we get introduced to more of the secondary characters and I loved reading about the guys. Each guy is unique and they really are a family. A little dysfunctional and unconventional but a family nonetheless. I can’t wait to read the next book about Cole and I’m hoping we get a book about the rest of the guys as well.
This was the first time I’ve read anything by this author and I love her writing style. The plot was refreshing and I couldn’t stop reading this story. I purchased the novella right after reading because I can’t get enough of this shifter rogue world! As I stated before I’m very picky about my paranormal reads and this booked knocked me off my feet!

Wolf’s Mate by Celia Kyle is the First book in the Shifter Rogues Series. This is the story of Abby Carter and Declan Reed.
Abby tries to keep a low profile, plays it safe and doesn’t look for the spotlight. But when she uncovers some dangers information dealing with anti-shifter organization her life becomes a target.
Declan seems to be the only one that will be able to keep her safe.
Along with the danger they start to find each other.
Really exciting read!
Celia Kyles’ Wolf’s Mate is the first book in her new Shifter Rogues series and I was completely thrilled with this new world. There were lots of strong, fascinating characters that easily drew me into their world and I am not embarrassed to say that I am hooked and will definitely be looking for more. The team seems to be one of misfits that scream bad boys and had me melting on the spot with their attitudes and ‘take it or leave it’ vibes that poured from the pages. Declan and Abby had lots of electrifying chemistry to heat things up and but were real and not so easy to give in to those feelings while they were on the run, which made the romance really interesting right along with all the suspense building thrills. Speaking of which there were lots of twists that kept me guessing and lots of action ensured that there was never a dull moment which added to the anticipation and kept me glued to the pages.
I have always been a real fan of Celia Kyles’ work and this new world is certainly one that I will be following as she made it thrilling and romantic but gave her characters real personalities that seemed to jump off the pages and make each character uniquely individual and had me wanting to get to know them better. And the world is full of mysteries to keep readers guessing at real intentions of some of the characters and wondering just how well this team will function. The dialogue she used also added to the realistic feel of this team and added some humor as well. Needless to say, I am definitely looking forward to reading Tiger’s Claim when it releases in October.
Enjoyed reading this book, it has a great storyline. Can’t wait for more from this author.
Wolf’s Mate by Celia Kyle is the first book in her Shifter Rogues series. Wolf’s Mate is the first book I have read by this author, but will certainly not be my last.
Fast paced with colorful characters, humor and action, Wolf’s Mate kept me on my toes! Abby is an easy character to relate to. She was both strong, yet carrying some scars from her past, making her all the more likeable. Kyle sets a fast pace with the storyline and eases into the romance, which allowed the story to build with an organic feel. Declan and his team are a hoot to read about. From surly to fun loving, the group had almost its own character.
Shifter Rogues takes place in world where shifter’s are not known to the general public, but a group of anti-shifter extremists exists. Their sole mission genocide upon all shifters. This premise provided a good conflict for the series and I can’t wait to read about what happens next.
Kyle doesn’t hold back on the cursing – THANK YOU – and the combination of humor and language often had me laughing out loud. Wolf’s Mate is a fun and entertaining read. There were a few inconsistencies within the story, but overall the positives outweighed any negatives by far. I would recommend this paranormal romance to anyone with a love for humor and shifters.
