~*~”So much more than an illicit tryst.”~*~ Books Laid BareAt eighteen, I became my nephew’s guardian and my once carefree life ceased to exist. The next fourteen years passed in a blur of unconventional parenting and more wine than I’m sure most good mothers consume. And things like my sex life became non-existent. So, when my nephew’s best friend, Weston, starts making his growing feelings for … making his growing feelings for me abundantly clear, I find myself stuck between a rock and a hard place.
There are so many reason I shouldn’t do this. A relationship with Weston has the potential to be disastrous. He’s in his twenties. I’m in my thirties. We can’t be together, it would be all kinds of wrong.
Wouldn’t it?
*This is a standalone contemporary romance.

After a tragic accident Tory is left to be the guardian and parent of her nephew Finn. While making a new start, they decide moving to a new house and school is something that will aid in their healing. Immediately Finn becomes best friends with the boy next door, Weston, and through the years their friendship stronger and stronger. But what happens when Weston admits to Tory that he has fallen in love with her? Will the ten year age difference be too much to overcome? And how will Finn react to the blooming romance? Enjoyable and entertaining, this was a great age gap romance. This was my first book by J.B. Heller and it wil not be my last.
It’s a forbidden love or is it. Ok so she older and it’s her nephew/son’s best friend but honestly it’s so well written that it’s not an issue. Just a fantastic story and that holds your attention. Love everything she has written. JB Heller your awesome
I was a little sceptical about this one. But, because not one of her books I have ever been disappointed in, I bought it (I’m not an ebook reader, I need them on my hands) AND to my surprise…. it may be one of the best stories I have read! She blows my mind every book!
This is such a great story, I loved watching Tory and Weston’s connection grow over the years that they knew each other. I felt the heartache, the love, the despair, and the happiness Tory experienced over the years. Well written and my only complaint is that I wanted more. More of their lives, more of their happiness, more time.
Favorite Quotes:
Weston had brought a girl called Candy, and she was as dumb as her named sounded. She’d looked like a stunned mullet when Finn had swept Nixie up in his arms and planted a kiss on her lips.
I’m going to need your full name, phone number, criminal record and employment status before I allow you to date my mum.
… the difference is I actually have a sex life, you don’t. If it’s battery operated, it doesn’t count.
Why was she smiling like that? It was a smile I’d never seen her wear before, and I hoped I never would. It was a cross between the crazed smile of The Joker and the creepy one of the Cheshire Cat.
My Review:
It first glance, the storyline sounds taboo – but it really isn’t, the situation is indeed a bit complicated and not as it seems. It is, in fact, a rather sweet, slow burn, and angsty love story, with a few bits of naughty along the way to keep us on edge until the heat is finally cranked up to atomic radiation levels. JB Heller has mastered the skill of forcing the reader to take a second look at our misperceptions, giving us just cause to open our minds or rethink an anti-hero or stereotype. I just adore that. I also adore her clever humor, feisty characters, observant insights, sizzling sensual scenes, and witty banter. She has mad skills.
