I pretty much fell in love with Andy in Nothing but Minor so it was a given that I was going to love Major Love and Kate Stewart didn’t disappoint.
Andy Pracht was a catcher in the minor leagues but hung up his cleats once his best friend and teammate made it to the big show. At the same time as his career took a turn, his heart was broken by the woman he loved because she didn’t love him back, loving his friend instead. Ouch!
April is a 911 operator who recently got out of a very long-term relationship. She’s the maid of honor for her friend Alice and ends up meeting Andy at the engagement party as he is the best man for the groom. Wedding duties pull these two together and it becomes very hard to fight their attraction toward one another.
Andy however is still nursing a broken heart and is about to leave town to take a new coaching job in the major leagues. He is not in the right frame of mind nor is it the best time to start a relationship even though he can’t stop thinking about April. April can’t fight their chemistry either but she wants more than just a fling.
My heart hurt so much for Andy in Nothing But Minor so I loved seeing how his heart healed in this book. Even though he wasn’t looking for love he was really helpless in falling for April as they just fit.
I loved their beginning connections. It wasn’t like they were sneaking around but their initial attraction just got the better of them at some interesting times and in some interesting places like on a kitchen table and in a restroom.
I felt for April because as soon as she realized she was seriously falling for this guy she knew that it might not be reciprocated. How can you compete with another woman who’s not even in the picture but still has a hold on the man’s heart? She was pretty patient with his hot and cold behavior but wasn’t a pushover or doormat.
I found this to be such a wonderful love story that I’ll be re-reading again and again. I also ADORED Kate Stewart’s song playlist that went along with this book. I found myself listing to some of the songs along the way as they really added to the feelings the story was evoking in me – especially “I Met a Girl” by William Michael Morgan. Even though I loved reading Nothing But Minor before this one, Major Love can easily be read as a standalone.

Andy gave his heart to baseball and to a woman that didn’t love him back. So during his darkest moment he met someone who fell in love with him but he didn’t know it.
April’s job is one of the hardest emotionally. She is a 911 operator and greatest aunt to 9 nieces and nephews.
This is an emotional story at parts, funny at parts and parts that I’m would shout, REALLY? I think the author did a great job showing us the emotional drain a 911 operator goes though and also the hardship of having a relationship with a person who works for professional baseball. But there are parts that I felt were a little unbelievable. I didn’t like the promise that she made with a drunk guy she just met. I thought it was not true to life. Like who does that?
Overall it was a pretty good read. I like the baseball parts and the friendship parts. Other then the whole promise, it wasn’t a bad book.
Yay!! I loved this one! April is hilarious and the chemistry between her and Andy is smokin’ hot! There’s great banter, so many funny parts and it entertained the crap outta me. I stayed up really late last night because I didn’t want to put it down. I seriously liked this one better than Alice and Rafe’s book. I hope she writes more in this series. I would love to see April’s coworker Michelle find someone.
Major Love is another homerun from Kate Stewart!! I loved it!!
Andy and April definitely are two of my all time favorite characters. There was just something about their connection with one another that I just loved. Andy’s drunk confessions to April at Rafe & Alice’s engagement party – for some reason, that was the moment I fell for him (just like April did). He was raw and open and honest – completely bared his soul to her, even though he didn’t remember any of it.
As with Anything but Minor, this story also made me laugh on so many occasions. I was so happy to see the Rafe & Alice’s wedding in more detail, as just the brief mention of it made me want to know more details. And it did not disappoint at all. Just love the comedic moments, along with all the swoony and sexy moments – and April and Andy definitely have some major chemistry together that is hot!
I loved everything about this story and will continue to follow and read whatever Kate comes out with. She truly puts her heart and soul into every story – and this one was no exception!
It’s pretty obvious that I’m a huge Kate Stewart fan. So far she hasn’t steered me wrong or disappointed me with her stories or characters. She excels in creating relatable, compassionate and human characters that I instantly gravitate towards.
Andy and April also appear in Anything But Minor. Major Love can be read as standalone but why on earth would you rob yourself of Alice and Rafe’s story who also appear in Major Love. Their friendship with Andy and April is very important to both couples and their dynamics are fantastic and filled with humorous and lovely moments.
First of all let me tell how much I loved April and Andy. I was intrigued and curious about them in Anything But Minor and in Major Love they made my heart and soul sing. They both had so much personality and charisma that they immediately jumped into my heart and stayed firmly put.
April were out of this world fantastic. Her job as a 911 operator only showed how strong she was and how she made a difference to other people’s lives when she was at work. Also her unconditional love and support for her sisters and their children were heartwarming and so freaking beautiful. She took care of others, put them first. She came second always. That’s until she met the sexy and kindhearted former ball player Andy who was dealing with a broken heart. He was such a good and beautiful man who didn’t want to hurt April yet he couldn’t escape her either. Their connection and relationship were so well developed that I enjoyed every moment of them together. They had so much chemistry and their bantering was so much fun. Their relationship took its time because of Andy’s insecurities and wanting to do right thing but it was so well written that it only strengthened their connection. Yes, they had hot sex and it was fantastic and also memorable. Kate Stewart knows how to make it interesting and fun. April definitely brought back Andy a much better man than what he used to be and together they were the perfect match.
Once again Kate Stewart has delivered another hit. Her prose is flawless and how she mixes romance and humor feels effortless. I laughed and swooned throughout Major Love. Brew Master Andy and Shero April have definitely captured my heart.
5 BadAssDirtyFuckin’A-Stars
This is the second book in the Balls in Play series, both are stand alone novels, but it’s more fun to read them in order. What do you get when you pair a sassy southern lady with a sort of worn out ball player? A hilarious story, that’s for sure!
April and Andy were introduced in Anything But Minor and Major Love is all about them with a side of Alice and Rafe. Andy, Rafe’s BFF, was determined to get Rafe into the MLB and once that was accomplished he was retiring from baseball. He was done…until he wasn’t. April, Alice’s BFF, is a 911 operator and pure southern sass. She leaves her job at the door most of the time, but once in awhile, it gets to her. The night she truly gets to know Andy is at Rafe and Alice’s engagement party. She knows better than to get involved, so she doesn’t….until she does. Then, look out!
“As a southern woman, I was told by my grandmother, Rocker, when you really cared for a man, you showed him with your smile, the words out of your mouth, and made good use your wooden spoon.” And you can bet April is a good southern woman! This book is just as hilarious as Anything But Minor and is pure entertainment.
