Leah Smith finally has everything she has ever wanted. Except she doesn’t. Her marriage feels more like a loan than a lifelong commitment, and the image she has worked so hard to build is fraying before her eyes. With a new role and a past full of secrets, Leah must decide how far she is willing to go to keep what she has stolen.
It’s pretty incredible how even when you don’t want to like a character, you’re still able to empathize with her journey. The way Leah is written, we see all of her flaws. We know all of her dirty secrets. We know all of her insecurities. We know she isn’t perfect, and yet you still find yourself kind of rooting for her. Because she has so much determination and because she isn’t afraid to go after (and hold on to) what she wants. On to book three!! #dirtyred #tarrynfisher #booktwo #series #katyapproved #read #bookstagram
I’m loving this series. Characters I can love & hate. We all know about that thin line…I did not want to put this down and when I had to all I could do was think about getting a chance to pick it up again.
I cannot wait to see what book #3 has for me!
If there was ever a book the depicted the epitome of a bunny boiler then this is it! I’m definitely on the ‘I hate Leah’ train. This lady is unhinged and gets increasing worse as the story progresses. Admittedly Caleb fuelled her insecurities and turned her into an even more of a paranoid wreck than she was originally.
Told from Leah’s POV; I started to sympathise with her knowing the lies Caleb had told previously… That started to dwindle quite early on to the point I actually wanted to slap her upside the head and tell her to leave. No man is worth that much mental suffering. Loved the character development in these characters as the story progressed.
I love this authors twisted tales… so clever. So addictive and unpredictable. Can’t wait for Caleb’s POV!
Leah is the girl you love to hate. She’s selfish, self absorbed and manipulative. To be honest I’m not sure why she wanted to be with Caleb and not because of his personality as he’s great but I would think she would want someone who’s easy to manipulate and bend to her will. We meet her mother, the apple does not fall far from that tree. You can see where Leah gets her traits from. I didn’t want to read her story I don’t like reading about horrible people who only think of themselves but I actually enjoyed it. I breezed through her story. I did feel sorry for her but I felt she brought it on herself. She fought for something that unfortunately didn’t want her.
Wow. I couldn’t put Dirty Red down. Tarryn sucks you in from chapter 1.
I definitely don’t want to be on the bad side of Leah. She is ruthless, fights dirty, and is manipulative and that’s me being nice with my words.
She loves with all her little black heart but one person and one person only. She loves the only way she knows how even though it’s not the right way to go someone.
I hated her so much but actually started to feel bad for her. Silly me. By the end I saw that she was always going to be the slithering snake she was raised to be.
I’m definitely looking forward to Thief book 3 in the series. I need to know how all their world’s will crumble. There is so much hate, deceit and poison running through Caleb, Leah and Olivia it makes my head spin.
Conniving…..devious…..deranged…..all of the phrases that can be used to describe Leah. The one woman that lives her life without boundaries where her adoration for Caleb is concerned, but is also the catalyst that throws the wrench in any type of reconciliation between Olivia and her beau. Nothing is out of bounds where Leah is concerned, because all of the craziness is part of keeping Caleb within her grasp at all costs.
With the determination of an animal hunting its prey, Leah’s reality is a little warped where Olivia and Caleb are concerned. Who wouldn’t expect a gal to hold onto her man? No standard is too low and no mountain too high where obsession is concerned. It’s all part of the ‘game’ and Leah is here to win it. The only question remaining is just how far is Dirty Red willing to go to win the ultimate ‘prize’??
Have you discovered the twisted and tantalizing world around Dirty Red? A twisted view into the warped musings of Leah and her mission to win the guy will leave you desperately turning the pages of this novel like your life depends on it. Leah possesses an unpredictability that adds to the intensity of this tale. Creating a world that few would ‘see’, but as you read you can’t help but feel a part of.
Let me confess just how twisted and satisfying Dirty Red actually was for me as a reader. It was like a fine wine, leaving that little taste in your mouth that leaves you wanting more. With the label of ‘villain’ attached to Leah’s name, some may wonder why even share the POV of a manipulative and calculating woman. What I say is you haven’t even dipped your toes in the water if you skip out on the ‘magic’ that Dirty Red will bring to this connection between Caleb and Olivia. It’s the crazy woman syndrome that everyone has experienced at some point in their live, but one that you can enjoy from a viewpoint that will really get your mind churning about how you see each of the characters involved.
One thing is certain, Dirty Red is undoubtedly one of the most creative additions to such a calculated and twisted story plot. From beginning to end – I soaked up every single nuance that I could possibly enjoy from a character as profound as Red!! If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Dirty Red, I suggest adding it to your collection today!!
