Gravity is not your normal, sweet romance of childhood friends to lovers. Spanning over twenty years—it’s raw, it’s real, asking the question if soul mates really exist.LilyAt eight years old, the boy next door changed my life. He was the force pulling me toward him despite our differences. It was like magic. We understood each other, supported each other and in the process became everything to … became everything to each other.
But in chasing Trevin’s dream, I lost myself along the way.
Trevin
Through tremendous heartache, she was there. Through fame and fortune, she was there. Loving Lily was the one thing I got right.
Eclipsing her in my shadow, I took from her until she was empty. Now I must do anything to prove I can be the man she wants, no, the man she deserves.

Emotional Rollercoaster
Gravity is a well written story, I was on an emotional rollercoaster with this book. I felt the highs and lows of these characters and wanted them to make it work. Trevin and Lily both love each other, but need to find what’s important to them without losing a part of themselves. I thought this was a wonderful book.
From the minute this story starts the reader is taking on an emotional journey of true childhood love. Lily and Trevin have been best friends since they were eight years old. But it is not until Trevin finds his way to musical stardom is that friendship is put to the test. Can a friendship/romance survive not only separation but the rock star influence that Trevin’s life has become? Or will Lily find herself alone and always feeling the lose of her best friend? Picking between music or love will be the ultimate choice. I absolutely loved these characters and with every turn of the page I truly needed them to find their HEA. As will all other Lauren Runrow books make sure you do not start it before you go to bed as you will not put it down until morning.
As I sit here listening to the book soundtrack to the book Gravity by Lauren Runow I am filled again with the emotions from the book I just finished. I don’t even know how to begin to share this book with you all. If you follow my blog and reviews you will see I don’t claim the title “best book” because I always thought it was not possible to do that. Until now that is. I am going to say it, Gravity by Lauren Runow is by far the best childhood, soulmates book I have ever read thus far!
Lily and Trevin start out in each others lives at the young age of eight and even through all the ups and downs of their lives they don’t abandon on another. Reading this book I wondered many times how it would end, how on earth could they possibly make it work. Lauren has weaved a story and characters that make you feel just as connected to them as they are to each other. You feel their triumphs and failures, you want to yell when they do something stupid that you know will mess everything up. You get mad at the town around the children for things and many times I wished I could jump into the book to help Lily or Trevin. This book is achingly real, makes you ask questions, is beyond raw, honest, heartwarming, touching, it has everything I look for and more in a book. I still don’t think I have done this book justice but I will say you need to read it! Go buy it right now and be prepared to not get any sleep, you will not be able to put it down! Even when I was forced to, at 4am, I was still thinking about it and had to finish it first thing in the morning. There was no option to not know what happened to them. I am still reeling and will be telling everyone I know to read this book! What are you waiting for… GO BUY IT!
Gravity is the first book that I have read by Lauren Runow and won’t be my last. This book had me feeling heaps of different emotions and also kept me wondering if Trevin and Lily will get the HEA they deserve or will they keep each other at arms length so their friendship last forever. Money can’t always find happiness but when your Gravity has been with you since you were 8 years old that’s all you will ever need. Awesome book definitely 5 star read.
4.5 Stars
I loved this story even though I didn’t like Trevin most of the time but I suppose it wouldn’t have worked otherwise. I’m just someone that prefers the good guys doing everything for their love and Trevin disappointed me a few times but it didn’t minder my love for this well written story. If you like guys making mistakes, then this is definitely the right book for you.
The Story:
Trevin and Lily grow up as neighbors and soon become friends. After life gets tough for Trevin at home, they both grow even closer and when the hormones change, both develop deeper feeling for each other which kind of frightens them because they don’t want to lose their friendship.
When Trevin’s offered the chance of his lifetime both are really excited about this opportunity and positive change in Trevin’s life because he deserves to finally get out of this place he’s in right now. But what does this change mean to their friendship? Or the feelings they have toward each other when they now live such different lives? Trevin is determined to become the man Lily deserves but his current lifestyle doesn’t seem to be the kind of life she wants. Despite everything, when life gets tough they both strengthen each other because they are each other’s gravity.
Will there ever be the right time for them to be more than friends?
Thoughts:
The story started out in the younger years of Trevin and Lily where we got to know how they’ve met and how their friendship grew. It’s told in Trevin’s and Lily’s POV which gave me the chance to understand their actions better than with just one perspective.
I loved the writing and I was captured by this great story of friendship, forgiveness and faith. There was a lot covered in this fast paced book and I couldn’t put it down.
I loved Trevin in the beginning as a boy but came to dislike him later because of his stupid actions. There were just no good enough reasons for me to understand his behavior and I had a love-hate relationship with him throughout the entire book but you know my soft heart, I couldn’t hold a grudge against him at the end.
Even though I didn’t like his behavior, I think that it made the story more interesting and I enjoyed the ups and downs despite my outbursts when Trevin acted out again. I didn’t really comprehend how Lily could be so forgiving when he treated her like that but I suppose that’s what this book’s about – their undying friendship and love for each other because life doesn’t always turn out the way you want it to and sometimes you have to wait patiently for the things you want or even have to give them up altogether.
I highly recommend this great book of Lauren Runow. She never disappoints with her stories and became one of my favorite authors.
Gravity is the first book I have read by Lauren Runow and I loved it! I was consumed by Trevin and Lily’s story.
Trevin and Lily met when they were eight years old and have always been best friends. Neither of them would admit they were more.
Lily has always been there for Trevin, from his rough childhood to the challenges he faces with his new rockstar lifestyle, but for how long?
This book follows their relationship with the good and the bad times but their love is beautiful and emotional!
I absolutely loved this book and I would definitely recommend it! This a must read!
This is the first book I have read by Lauren Runow. It will NOT be my last. I feel like I just got off a crazy rollercoaster full of emotion. I have laughed. I have cried. I have sat in shock. I have fumed. I have even screamed out some colorful language all thanks to the creative writing of the author.
We meet Lily and Trevin when they are in elementary school. They are neighbors. They are best friends. They are everything. Even from the beginning they were proof that opposites attract. She comes from a good family. Trevin’s is the dictionary illustration for dysfunctional. Lily is the one thing that helps him survive, helps him live. And then he leaves to become a successful rockstar. He soon realizes that without Lily there is no life.
This is a story about the challenges to make a relationship work. This is a story of inner strength. This is a story of determination, giving hope to all romantics. This is a story that shows that love can save someone and friendship is the best stepping stone to love. Don’t give up. Actions speak louder than words.
Gravity was a heart-felt, friends to lovers, rockstar novel, yet it was so much more. Lauren Renow takes us on a journey through the lives of Trevin and Lily from the moment they meet at eight until adulthood.
This book kept me hooked until the end. It was an emotional rollercoaster. Written in dual POV, this story have both ups and downs. There were some parts which made me swoon and smile while there were other parts which were very emotional and had me angry or sad.
I loved the friendship Trevin and Lily had and I loved seeing how their friendship changed into something more. It was interesting the pull they had towards each other all their life.
This well-written story has great character development, an interesting storyline and a wonderful conclusion. This was an excellent read.
Another 5 star read for me from Lauren Runow. Lily and Trevin’s story is beautiful, wonderful, painful, heart wrenching and honest all at the same time. They meet when they are kids and the story spans the next 20 plus year. Lauren’s writing is wonderful, emotional and descriptive and I felt like I was along on this life long quest for love without losing who you are in the process. I laughed, cried, wanted to throw my kindle, but in the end the emotional journey this book took me on put me all back together. This isn’t your typical love story, but an emotional love journey to find out if soul mates truly exist. Thank you Lauren for another amazing book!!!
Have you ever related to a story on a personal level? I confess that I had this deep, profound connection to Lauren Runow’s Gravity from the very start! I was drawn to want to read Gravity, when I first read the blurb: Lily, “At eight years old, the boy next door changed my life.” To say this caught my attention is an understatement. You see when we were both eight years old, my family moved next door to my now husband, and we begin our first chapter together. When I first started reading the book, I could not believe how their first encounter was so similar to ours.
“Hi, I’m Trevin, What’s your name?” A boy sneaks around the fence to where I tried to hide
from him.
“Lily,” I shyly state, not daring to met his gaze.
“Lily—like the pad?”
“Excuse me?” My head shoots up.
“You know, lily pad, like what frogs jump on in a pond.”
“So, Lily Pad, did you just move in?”
“My name is not Lily Pad, just Lily…and yes we moved in yesterday.”
There were so many similarities like their bedrooms face each other, but theirs had forty feet between their houses, and we just had my parent’s driveway. They loved to ride bikes and we loved to ride bikes. But they talked back and forth with walkie talkies, and now I find out my husband had a set and never gave me one. Upset about that!
As they grew older they remained the Best of Friends. Lily’s parents were making her learn to play an instrument. Trevin told her he would love to play the guitar, but his dad would never go for it. It was guitar lessons that Lily chose, with the intentions of teaching Trevin everything she learned. Turned out he was a natural, but she so was not! Baseball was his passion, but music was his dream. For his 17th birthday Lily saved up for over a year to give him his first electric guitar. For his 18th Birthday she set up an audition with Sony Records in San Francisco at the infamous Fillmore. Lily never thought that this would change their life and friendship forever. “He’s been here, with me everyday since I was eight years old, and now he’s gone.”
They had a connection that would last over distance and time. This is so much more than a ‘Childhood Friends to Lovers’ story. It was a hearts and soulmates kind-of-story, spanning over 20 years: “You’ll always be my gravity. You’re what I need to stay grounded, no matter what happens. Remember that. Only you.” From the first “butterflies in her tummy,” from the first kiss, from their first time, to the first break-up, their love would weather the time.
“Without each other, we both will float away into darkness, because my life would be nothing without her. She’ll always be my gravity. Keeping me grounded. Helping me be the man I want to be. The man I know I can be. The simple man!” Oh! I recommend this highly. It so connects with my own life, and it was my absolute favorite Lauren Runow novel.
Loved this book! Great characters and unpredictable!
I love this book. The characters are amazing and really become people you care for. I thought about them even when I wasn’t reading their story
