When I picked up this book, I didn’t realise it was targeted at young readers, which explains some of the simplistic, very explanatory prose. So be aware this is not really YA fantasy but aimed at 8-12 year olds.
In light of that this is a lovely fantasy story about Colton, who finds out on his eighteenth birthday that he is a Dragon, and has been living with adoptive parents for the last eighteen years. Mind blowing in itself. Quite an emotional start, you really feel the loss and confusion Cole experiences, no matter how his adoptive parents try to ease it.
When his real parents turn up to tell him he is a dragon shifter, he is transported into a new life. He then finds out he is the son of the King and Queen of Ochanda, a dragon realm, and he is one of it’s protectors
He never really gets the chance to absorb any of that before he has to save the dragon world, without much knowledge about the world he has been thrust into. His fear that he doesn’t know what he is doing is very real.
First book in a coming of age fantasy series. You sympathise with Cole as he struggles to come to terms with his new life and what he is expected to do. There is much more for him and us to learn about the world of Ochanda and the dragon shifters.
This is a fantastic read. Coles life is about to make a major change he finds out the truth of his heritage. This read grabbed me from the first page to the last. Its a real page turner if your a lover of shifters and the Supernatural. The Author has done a great job at the World Building and bringing out the Characters emotions. This is an Epic read. A definite must read.

ONE ENGAGING READ!!!
Wow! If you’re looking for an action packed, fast paced, nailbiting, hard hitting, heart pounding, pulse racing, page turning tale that captivates from the start. Congrats my friends you’ve found it. All the drama, intrigue, danger and suspense increases as the plot thickens. Twists and turns abound with all the excitement and adventure that leads to and unforgettable path. Culican did an amazing job bringing this read to life. Great job Culican, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
If you love coming-of-age stories, fantasy worlds, and lots of adventure you’ll love this first in series book. Can you imagine growing up in a “normal” human world only to find out you are really a dragon and have to now leave everything you know to save a world you never knew existed? That is Cole’s story. Lots of dialog and adventure in this entertaining page-turner.
Loved it! Can’t wait to read the rest of this series!
A mystical read!
A mystical calling…
Destiny…
Danger…
And two unlikely heroes who are fated to save them all…
After reading that prologue, I want to hug Cole but his destiny is waiting for him. I feel for him – finding out about his parents and about himself, about his new reality.
I loved this book. I needed a good adventure fantasy and this went above and beyond in satisfying my reading addiction. So darn fantastic. A adventure filled magical experience.
Full of secrets, dragons, other various creatures, surprises, enemies, war, action, adventure and magic.
Perfect for readers of adventure fantasy.
There were several 4 and 5-star reviews of this book on Amazon. That’s why I picked it up. The story had promise, though it moves very quickly. The problem is the awful word use, poor spelling and punctuation. I read a lot of indie authors and can tolerate a fair amount of sloppy proof reading, but this one was worse than usual. I believe it is written for YA readers and I hate to see them reading stuff like this. Things like: “the weaning moon” . . . forgetting who was talking, misused and misspelled words. It was so bad I quit after 3 chapters. As I said, the story had promise. If someone does a good job of editing the book, or even if someone with a reasonable knowledge of the English language proof reads the book and makes corrections, I would give it another try. I am surprised that this author is a USA Today best-selling author.
