Masen Crisfield fell in love with Booth Jones when she was sixteen years old. Booth was the love of her life. The rock she needed to get her through the day. Then she rips his heart out while he’s deployed, leaving him wondering just what he’d done to warrant something so severe as a breakup that neither of them wanted.Stubbornness is their middle name, and ten long years pass before either one … either one of them try to breach the gap.
Circumstances force Booth to come home, and within an hour of him being back in his home town, there she is. Right back in the forefront of his mind where he knows she shouldn’t be.
The day he starts his first civilian job at Kilgore Fire Department, his worst fear of seeing Masen is realized. And not only does he see her, but he sees her with another man. A fellow firefighter that he has to trust with his life.
It soon becomes apparent that they are both still just as much in love with each other now as they were the moment they met. But there’s a problem. Booth’s married, and Masen’s in a committed relationship.
They fight the pull with everything they have, but they’re both about to learn the true meaning of flash point as their lives crash together. Their love consuming everything in it’s path.
Author Note: there is absolutely NO cheating in this book.

Booth and Masen let their emotions drive them apart for years. then when they come face to face again their emotions can be their downfall again.
i found myself wanting to smack both of these characters. they were both letting their past and insecurities drive them crazy. and when they were driven crazy and came back together it was hot. they were passionate in the moment.
Booth and Masen showed that when it comes to love like theirs, time can’t even keep them apart. but, i did find myself feeling for Bowe, and just hope that in the future that he will find his own HEA.
5 stars
Booth and Masen were made for each other. That’s the only way to explain the chemistry, the draw and the love between these two.
She fell in love with him when she was just shy of 17 years old, once he enlisted things stayed the same until one fateful day when everything came crashing down on Masen at once and she did the unthinkable.
She broke up with Booth over the phone and not in a calm manner. Unbeknownst to her, she ripped Booth’s heart out right before a mission.
I wanted to hate Masen at this point, I truly did, but her state of mind at the time of Booth’s call made it easier to swallow.
Thinking their relationship can be fixed she waits for his arrival at the airport only to come face to face with his brother who was always good her her now looks at her with disgust and tells her he volunteered to stay,
“You broke him, baby girl,” he said. “Now you get to watch while he tries every trick in the book not to leave the place alive.”
Talk about breaking your heart? That right there did it for me.
Ten years later Booth is home and about to start working with both the SWAT and Kilgore Fire Department when he comes face to face with Masen.
Regardless of the years and pain between them she rushes into his arms and it seems like nothing ever changed.
Until a voice behind her saying hey hubby sends her running away.
Booth isn’t ready to deal with Masen so he doesn’t tell her the truth about his “wife” instead letting her think the worst.
They both fight to move on and to avoid each other but there’s a pull that cannot be denied. No one will ever fill that space in the others heart, without their other half they can never truly be happy.
Now it’s up to Booth and Masen to see if they can overcome the past and move forward together or go their separate ways.
I loved Booth’s story, I really don’t think there’s anything Lani Lynn Vale could write that I wouldn’t adore. The characters have a way of digging themselves into your heart quickly and a story line that hooks you in the first chapters and refuses to let you walk away until the very end.
Masen’s heart has always belonged to Booth but he was a dream that would never happen for her, so when he comes back into his life everything changes. I loved this story and the push and pull between Masen and Booth. The heat between them melted my kindle. This story was so amazing and I loved every word.
Booth and Masen were together as young adults but split for 10 years. When Booth comes back to town Masen thinks it’s their chance but someone is being super stubborn. A letter comes finally kicking both their butts in gear and to stop wasting time. But there is someone lurking near by who almost ruins their reunion.
Go read the book to find out the details, you won’t be disappointed.
An endearing and beautiful second chance romance. Booth and Masen go through a lot filled with misunderstandings, lack of communication. and just being too immature for the feelings they had when they were younger. The older version of these two takes them on a heartfelt journey to unconditional love. I adored this story.
Really Loved this story! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Emma Wilder and Jason Clarke are spot on with their performance. I love stepping back to listen to the stories of the men and women in Kilgore, TX.
This story has so much love, energy and suspense.
5 Stars across the board!
Flash Point is one of those stories that gives you a forever love, you know the ones that have been soul deep and unescapable since the day they met even when things all went wrong. Mason and Booth are finally given a second chance when after ten long years he finally decides to come home. Their journey to the inevitable is action packed, witty, outspoken but overflowing with so much love. A connection from the moment their eyes met, a flash of a future and their destiny was sealed. Their story will have you anxious and cheering from the sidelines for these two to finally get past the bitter words spoken when they needed each other the most. If it is witty banter, steamy scenes, drama filled moments and a love written in the stars that you are after, then sit back and enjoy the ride as Booth and Mason finally come home.
I absolutely adored Booth and Masen’s story. Both have been through so much in their lives that you wouldn’t think they would even think about giving each other another chance at a relationship. I love how all the misunderstanding leads to true love prevailing.
This is the second book in the Kilgore Fire series. You don’t have to read them in order. But you really should read all of Lani’s books. She is one of my must read, no matter what, authors. I have loved every single book.
Booth and Masen were a couple when they were younger. They did love each other, but Masen was eighteen at the time and Booth was deployed. She needed him. But when on deployment, you can’t just drop everything and come home. Masen ended things. She wasn’t mature enough, or ready, for this kind of relationship.
This is a great second chance book. I really liked Masen when she was older. I love her smart mouth. I love Booth too. What he did for his brother’s girl, was a great thing.
Believe me, you want to read this.
And of course the intros to the chapters are great!
“I’m emotionally constipated. I haven’t given a crap all week.”
“I was going to work out…but then I realized this nap ain’t going to take itself.”
Here is your PSA for this story…YES its part of a series, YES you must read the other books before reading this one. Why, cuz you will be lost and confused! That is all.
Masen was young when she pushed the love of her life away, and she didn’t mean to. Booth was heartbroken and decided to stay away…. for like 10 years. But when Booth was asked to come back by his brother, he can’t say no. Deciding the best course of action is just to avoid Masen… the girl that broke him. Of course though, when you’re in a small town, you will see the one person you don’t want to, all the time!
What happens when Masen finds out that Booth has…. LOL you thought I was actually gonna say more, you should know better! This was really good! As usual, some tears, lots of laughter, and some serious needing to fan myself. Lani continues to outdo herself! I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next! 5 stars!!
This is a second chance romance. Booth is so freaking hot. He is one of my favorite book boyfriends. Masen is sassy and knows what she wants. I kind of was mad at the beginning but in the end Booth was out of the dog house.
