No take-backs.That was the motto that Drew lived by in all things, including his love life. He’s a player, pure and simple. He’s learned the hard way that women aren’t all hearts and flowers. Sometimes their sexy bodies and beautiful faces are just a pretty shield to hide the crazy, and he’s so freakin’ over crazy.Been there, done that. He has the divorce papers to prove it.Karma hits like a bitch.… it.
Karma hits like a bitch.
Aspen needs a break. A long one that doesn’t include anything with a Y chromosome. Not even one as tempting as her new neighbor who just moved in across the street. Men are trouble with a capital freakin’ T, and she has the ankle monitor to prove it.
The last man she gave her heart to was a police officer. A man whose life was dedicated to protection; he was supposed to protect her heart—not break it.
She decides right then and there that she’s done with being the better person.
Everything happens for a reason.
A rash decision—undoubtedly regrettable, undeniably unforgettable. In the heat of the moment, Aspen’s actions with a tire iron and her ex-boyfriend’s brand new SUV land him in the ER getting stitches and have her seeing the inside of a jail cell for the first time.
It’s just her luck that the whole town is there to witness the result of her poor decision, including her police officer brother and the neighbor that already made it more than clear she was more trouble than she was worth.
House arrest never looked so good.
Hide your crazy.
Drew enjoyed the show, though. For the first time in a year, he’s thinking about his life, and how it would be a lot more enjoyable with a woman like Aspen at his side.
Maybe crazy isn’t so bad after all.

Aspen and Drew’s story was another one being added to my favs of Vale’s. i loved how Aspen took matters of her boyfriend cheating on her and did what she needed to do. i just wouldn’t have done it in front of a police department. Drew maybe a guy that isn’t looking for someone after ending things with his ex-wife. that is until he meets his neighbor that is under house arrest. what starts off as something small grows and these two find that the other means more to the other that they wanted. one thing that they didn’t know was that fate was working its magic
getting to see the characters of SWAT again was something that i loved and also kind was expected since Aspen is the little sister of Downey. and there are now questions in my head that i want answers for about the character Raphael.
Drew and Aspen’s story was so amazing and the twists that I never expected. Downey lost some points in this story on how he treated Aspen. I love Aspen and how she just got the raw deal when it came to love. Drew has his own challenges as well. The two of them together is just explosive. How this story progresses and what happens literally left me gasping, such an amazing story and I can’t wait for more.
Aspen and her spunkiness is great. She had me cracking up throughout this whole story.
In the beginning we learn Aspen gets the short end of the stick and a new neighbor, Drew. The last thing Drew needs is any more drama but for some reason he is pulled towards Aspen and her form of crazy. It’s a great funny story to read and I would recommend reading it.
I was completely “Oxygen Deprived” throughout this entire story. Drew and Aspen are absolute perfection. I enjoyed every single second of this story.
This was my second time reading Drew and Aspen’s story and I seriously think it is called Oxygen Deprived because of all the laughing you do. A love that was a childhood prediction and one that was so powerful you could feel the connection between these two soul deep. A story that makes you feel happy, laugh and will make your heart race. It is packed full of secrets, drama and so many steamy moments that it will have you feeling like you are in a state of constant hot flushes. A beautiful love story about finding the person that makes everything right and is always on your mind.
Drew and Aspen’s story was funny, sensual, and exciting to read. I adore these two. It definitely kept my attention.
This is the third book in the Kilgore Fire Series. It is a stand alone, but the other books are just as awesome as this one. I look forward to each and every new release of Lani’s. It doesn’t matter which series, I will read it ASAP. I love how all of her series are connected and we will see those characters in the other books.
This is Drew’s story.
I absolutely love Drew! He is in his early forties, has a sixteen year old daughter, and he is on the fire department and a medic for the SWAT team. He’s also at the end of the divorce process.
He is a great dad and man.
Aspen is Downy’s little sister. She is funny as hell. Man did she give it to her ex. Only thing is…He’s also a cop and it landed her on house arrest.
I love these two.
There are a few twists and they’re awesome. The sex is off the charts!
Just like in all the other books, the beginning of each chapter had me laughing!
“Men and women are different. If a man is scorned, he’ll show up at night. If a woman is scorned, she’ll show up at your job and smash your shit in front of everyone.”
“14,000 people are having sex right now. 156,000 are kissing. Then there’s you. You’re reading this instead of getting some.”
Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because I didn’t end your miserable existence like I wanted to, bitch.”
So this is part of the Kilgore Fire series…. but to get the FULL effect, I insist you read all of the previous books, as there are returning characters from the other series…. and it just makes reading this all the more better.
So we have Downey’s sister, Aspen, who is on house arrest, and the new guy that has just moved in across the street, Drew. Now when I first started this and realized Aspen was on house arrest, I wondered just how Lani would pull this together… but god did she make it work. With drama from their ex’s, and other various people; some really freaking HOT sexy time, and some visits from some of our beloved past characters, this book was freaking amazing!! I wont spoil anything you just have to read it. I give this 5 stars.
When Drew left his wife and moved in next door to Aspen, he didn’t expect to fall for the quirky neighbor on house arrest. Drew is trying to figure out all things Aspen, she lost her temper with her cheating ex and has been regretting it ever since.
Aspen doesn’t really regret her actions, but she can officially say being under house arrest sucks big time. Drew is a wonderful diversion and when he figures out what she does for work, he is even more entertained. He is planning on building something with Aspen, but with an ex who is helping keep his daughter from him. Juggling everything he knows one thing for sure, Aspen is his and he will do everything he can to protect her.
Loved this, I thought the whole story was highly entertaining from beginning to end. Had a couple of twists I did not expect. Liked Drew from the get go, you dont think that he is alpha male but he sure is when it comes to Aspen. I can’t wait for more in this series.
U did it again Lani! Quirky… funny as hell… I love how Aspen and Drew relationship goes..What a great book… till the next books…horrayyyyy
Drew and Aspen are amazing. Their story is one that will pull you into Lani’s fictional world and you will want to stay. Neighbors to friends to love. Love Love Love it!
Lani Lynn Vale never fails to provide an action packed love story, that mixes just the right amount of sweetness, with enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. Add in the visits from characters from previous books and I just couldn’t put it down!
Lani Lynn Vale’s books are always an auto read for me, and the Kilgore Fire series is quickly becoming one of my favorite series.
Oxygen Deprived is Drew’s story.
Drew’s been married, has a crazy ex and figures he’s better off going without that dealing with that level of crazy again.
His neighbor Aspen is a special kind of crazy. She’s on house arrest for unleashing her inner nutjob on her ex’s truck and then him after catching him cheating.
Everyone knows what she did, most of the town witnessed it, including the police department. So now she’s stuck in her home watching neighbors for fun.
She an Drew become friends spending most evenings together, until he helps her out with a special item sent to her for review and that’s when their friendship goes further.
These two are great together, he deals with her snarky attitude and they sort of balance each other out, they also go at it like rabbits regularly.
Aspen has more crap from her ex trying to screw her over while she can’t leave her house to do a thing about it, and Drew has ex-wife then daughter troubles. And then there’s the psycho kid down the street trying to ruin everything.
Lots going on but it’s a great read. It’s sexy and funny, sweet and honest.
One of my favorite parts is when the families get together to meet each other, you’ll see what I’m talking about when you read it.
I enjoyed hearing from characters from other books and getting inside Downy’s head a bit. He needed his butt kicked but luckily he figured out how to remove his head from said butt before any damage could be done.
Drew may be my new favorite book boyfriend, he’s the perfect alpha, just enough protective, just enough sweet just enough hot between the sheets.
Another exciting and hilarious 5 star read from Ms Vale.
Another winner from Lani Lynn Vale. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was that the book ended too soon; I wanted a little more character development for the main characters.
It was nice to “visit” with Sam and the gang and the sex scenes were great as usual. This was funny, sweet, hot and Lani at her usual.
