This is such a good book and the story gets better & better as it goes on.. That cliffhanger at the end OMG can’t wait to read the next book
“Yes. I need protection, but more than that, I need a safe place to stay and I need an investigator to figure out why someone would blow up my house.”
Hayley was in danger. She shows up on the doorstep of the one person who emotionally destroyed her. She needs his help and protection.
Hayley was the woman Nick couldn’t get over. He knew he was no good for her, but it didn’t mean he wanted her any less.
Lexi Blake brings us another excitingly dangerous and steamy read from my favorite series!
Loved the story!
There are SO many things I like about this book and this series, but I can still only come up with a 3 star rating based on what I don’t like.
I always enjoy the narration. I think Ryan West does an awesome job. I love any appearance of Ian and Charlotte Taggert. This means it’s always a good time. I love Ian and his sarcasm. I enjoy the friendship, loyalty, and support of the McKay – Taggert team in both the Dallas and London offices. I like the humor of the “Lost Boys”. I love the way the female team members and some of the wives are portrayed. The introduction of kids into the team is also well done. I even enjoy the storylines of figuring out who the bad guys are, why they are the bad guys, and how the members of McKay – Taggert are going to take them down. There is always some action going on from the different Ops, as well as action going on in both Sanctum and the Garden.
As you can see there is a LOT to enjoy about the individual book and the overall series.
Focusing on Nic and Haley’s story, I could not wait for it to be over. As far as I am concerned, there is one thing that is the major reason keeping these books from being 4 or 5 star reviews for me, and it is this.
The couples, every single time, have to go back and forth about their relationship. “I want to be with you”. “I’m not worthy of being with you”. “I’m not sexy enough, interesting enough, honorable enough, normal enough, exciting enough, stable enough, etc.”
Basically, I am not enough. This comes from the man, the woman, or both.
I could live with some insecurity that goes on for a bit. Something that a couple had to work out so they could move on, be together, have a life. The thing is that they go back and forth almost the entire book. Yes we are together. No, we can’t be together. It is irritating AF.
Let me not forget that Haley was just plain stupid. Why did she think she could protect seasoned operatives when this is what they do for a living? Why did she feel as a HISTORY PROFESSOR that she had a skill set where she could do anything, and SURVIVE hired killers? And, when she finally gained entrance to the Garden, she had the audacity to be judgey. I did not care for Haley.
Haley was obsessed with comparing herself to Des. Nick was obsessed with feeling used by Des. Neither thought they were enough for the other. Everyone liked Des, but she was a crappy individual. Nic being part of the Bratva.
Honestly, all of these things are fine in small doses, but when they are strung out over 14-16 hours of an audio book, it is just too much. hours of not being able to see the forest for the trees. Ugh!
Even during an isolation mandate, I had to switch to something else and come back. If Nic and Haley separated one more time, I was done. Alas, I persevered and completed the book. For me, the amount of drama takes away from the sexiness and romance of the book.
Yet, I am still hooked on the series. It is so smart of Lexi Blake to provide the teasers to the next book in the very last chapter. I have to know what happens with Brody and Stephanie. Then, I still have to get my Lost Boys fix in.
Thank you for reading my rant.
Quality reading
I can’t praise this series enough, it’s a absolute joy to read. The author has managed to create a world where friends and coworkers becomes family.
This book has it all, lots of feelings, suspense, action and full of love.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good dialogues
Steamy chemistry between Nick and Hayley.
This book is part of a series and can be read as a standalone (maybe) but I recommend starting from the beginning to get all the connections.
5 stars
For His Eyes Only is everything I have come to expect from the McKay-Taggart crew. Nick was broody and demanding, Hayley was kind and way too forgiving at times. Overall a pretty good read.
Forgiveness can grow into a forever…
Nick and Haley.
This story has been building for a while now so I was excited to finally get all of Nicks story and boy was it worth it…
I’m not sure I could ever forgive Desiree and I have to say I have a bit of whiplash thanks to Nick going from Desiree to Haley talk about seriously wanting to slap him…lol Even in death Desiree caused way to much trouble…lol
Intrigue, mystery, spy’s and so much more this story was action-packed and thrilling from the first page to the very end…
Nick Markovic wanted to kill the people who killed his sister. Him and Des was like oil and water they did not mix well but still had some love for each other. Nick was in love with Hayley Dalton as well but never thought that he was good enough for her. Hayley got some things from Des after she died and her life was put on the line. She finds out that her dad faked his death, burn her house. She ran to Nick to help her out of being framed for things that she did not do. Read this book to find out everything that happen I am sure that you will love it
I don’t even know what to write. I know it took several days to read but with Mrs. Blake’s books I stop reading because I don’t want it to end too fast. I laughed and almost cried. Extremely hot. Suspense. And some old friends and new. I truly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one.
