Occupied Norway, 1943. After seeing an allied plane go down over the mountains, headstrong fifteen year-old Kari Dahlstrøm sets out to locate the wreck. She soon finds the cocky American pilot Lance Mahurin and offers to take him to Sweden, pretending she’s a member of the resistance. While her widower father Erling and the disillusioned Nazi Oberleutnant Conrad Moltke hunt them down, Kari begins … begins to fall for Lance, dreaming of a life with him in America. Over the course of the harrowing journey, though, Kari learns hard truths about those around her as well as discovering unforeseen depths within herself.

Gives some enlight as to some of the trials and tribulation that people went thru during WWII
The descriptions of the countryside were good. The interactions between people with insight into motives, fears and hopes was especially good.
Great historical novel. Could have been real.
I finished it ! Therefore it was worth reading.
Too much of the book described scenery & parts were unrealistic ie. taking off her wet clothing although describing severe cold conditions.
Unusual very good book
I didn’t like this book. The author describes the landscape with flowery words, but I still could not picture it. The characters were not likable. Example….the American pilot did not seem hurt, but when the 15 year old girl said she would go look for food, he said “are you sure.” This happened twice. Like he let this young girl do this. I was just disappointed but glad it was short and I didn’t waste much time on it.
Set in Norway during WWII which was less known to me.
Not a book I’d recommend but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. I gave it 2 stars. It’s an easy read and the author definitely captures the environment and feeling of the country but the story line was somewhat boring to me and just seemed, I don’t know…predictable?.
I really enjoyed this book. Kept me interested and I thought the writing was very good. Recommend it highly.
