Abbi can’t escape that night…I grew up in the spotlight, thanks to my famous father. I know what it’s like to be surrounded by phonies who will betray you for their personal gain. From the moment I see Abbi, I can’t stop thinking about her. I’m not the relationship type, but she needs a boyfriend to help fend off the gossip, and I can play one for the press to help protect her from the vicious … protect her from the vicious comments…
There’s nothing made up about the desire sizzling between us, and I really want to explore it.
Don’t miss the chance to lose your heart to Abbi and Clay in this steamy saga of second chances and love from a USA Today bestselling author.

Whew! What a book!! Cried, laughed, got angry, and cycled through them over and over. Absolutely loved every minute of it. This story touches on sensitive subjects in a stark yet beautiful way. No spoilers here, but let me tell you ~ the Author does a fabulous job of portraying real life in the midst of fame.
Many Sounds of Silence, Book Four of Seattle Sound Series by Alexa Padgett
Clay Rippy is in his last year of college at Northern University to earn his degree in Music Theory and Finance. With aspirations of making it big in the music industry with his two friends, Kai and Dane, he wanted to know every aspect of the industry.
Abigail (Abbi) Dorsey is a transfer student to Northern University. When pictures emerged of her from her last school that led people to believe she was a party girl, she wanted a clean slate. Sadly, that reputation has preceded her and created the same problems yet again.
Both Clay and Abbi both have had to deal with unwanted press and paparazzi thanks to having famous parents. When unwanted attention becomes too much for Abbi, Clay steps in and protects her the only way he knows how. By becoming her pretend boyfriend. When both start having real feelings towards each other, Clay fights it because his father had cheated on his mother. Clay doesn’t want to become his father, but by pushing Abbi, away it may not matter any way.
We met Abbi in Book One, Sweet Solace. From the fun-loving girl of sixteen to the eighteen-year-old who is fearful of her shadow. It was incredibly sad to see until Clay slowly pulls her into the light again. While he is doing that, he begins to look at himself and question his motives. Going into this book I was worried that both Clay and Abbi would seem immature or childish considering their ages, but I was pleasantly surprised in the way they were both written. Both has maturity I am assuming because of their upbringing in the music industry.
I’m totally loving Alexa Padgett’s Seattle Sound series. It’s got just the right mix of alpha guys, feisty women, love, sacrifice and real romance. Then Many Sounds of Silence: A Bad Boy Rockstar Romance (Book 4 in the series) goes on to deal with more weighty subjects such as the impact of stardom on stars’ children and, powerfully, the impact of date rape drugs on the rose victims and their families and relationships. This book totally grabbed me and did not let me put it down until the last page. Beautifully written with superbly crafted lead and supporting characters and a plot that is both sensitive and just “wow”. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
A powerful story about facing fear, bullies and their consequences, women and our right to own our own body. Abbi’s worst nightmare is happening again. The pictures from her worst nigth, with she can’t remember, are following her to Seattle. CAn Clay protect her or will she need to fight her own battles in order to recover her own life and find happiness and love?
This book the fourth I have read in this amazing series, raises the tough subject of date rape. It also portrays the reality of life under a microscope because you are famous or part of a famous person’s family.
This is Abbi and Clay’s story. Clay first sets eyes on Abbi as she is being pursued by paparazzi on the campus quad. Intrigued, he finds out that she is the stepdaughter of the very famous Asher Smith, and she has just started this new school to get away from the scandal she was embroiled in at her old school where uncompromising photos of her posted were posted on social media by people she thought were her friends. It doesn’t take long before the scandal follows her to her new school and she meets Clay when he rescues her from two guys making unsavoury comments to her in the library.
Clay understands staying out of the limelight as his father is also a famous musician. As he has learned to protect himself and his family he wants to help and protect her. Even though immediately sparks fly between them Abbi is too afraid to trust him and accept his help. Eventually the sparks become flames that cannot be ignored and they become more than friends.
As she learns to trust, and support from friends and family make her stronger she able to deal with her tormentors and helps Clay to deal with his own demons. It is a beautiful but unsettling story of how bullying and social media can do so much damage.
Alexa is a wonderful author and sounds of silence deals with high profile people with trust issues and how they handle it. Join abbie and clay to see if they can overcome their problems and become a couple.
Want to play in a band? There is nothing private when you play in a band everyone knows and you are famous. Abbie was the step daughter whose dad was in the famous band. As a college girl, Abbie’s life was open for everyone to abuse and that they did. Good storytelling, good book!
As I get into each one of this series I think they are pretty good and growing better as each one comes. Abbi and Clay gives you one that gets you thinking also what would you have done in her shoes along with what does happen in this one. It is hard especially in small places to get past wrong info or horrendous stories. This is one on the heart with it capturing ours. Many aspects also that put you at times in the emotional wringer.
I’m new to this series, and after reading this book, I’m gonna go and read all the rest of them!!!!! Alexa you did AWESOME!!!!! I can’t wait to read more from you!!!!!
Another page turner from Alexa Padgett.
Abbi Dorsey has a past which she would love to forget but the past always catches up with you. What’s she needs is a knight in shining armour. Enter Clay Rippey, son of a rock star with his own issues. Will they, won’t they, do they?
Loving this book series how each book is connected but all can be read on their own
A well written, though tragic book, Many Sounds of Silence tore me up emotionally so that I had to stop reading from time to time. This novel brings out a number of facts, and none more pertinent than the dangers of the internet and the damage that it can do to a person’s reputation. There is also the fact that there is a vast divide between intelligence and common sense or wisdom. Young adults who are privileged to attend universities and colleges have the opportunity to learn and earn their degrees, denoting intelligence, but many times their hormonal, alcohol-driven actions leave no doubt in a person’s mind about the level of their common sense or wisdom. There is also the group mentality where through their actions they try to bring everyone down to the lowest common denominator. The libelous scandal unleashed against Abbi has to be one of the cruelest and most frightening that anyone can experience. However, because just one person saw through the pain and began to doubt the validity of the claims, positive reactions towards Abbi began to grow until she had a well-intentioned, although sometimes slightly crazy, posse to keep her safe. The growing attraction between Clay and Abbi is fraught with so much angst that it is a wonder they ever really got together. Nevertheless, when the dirt starts to fly, everyone is smeared with it, so it is no wonder that there were hesitations in making a commitment. This is a really hard book to read, but it ended on such a positive note that I felt privileged to have had the chance to read it. I received a copy of this book as a gift, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
