When Gage Evans gets a look at his hot nurse, he’s smitten immediately. Too bad he’s given the nurse the impression he’s some kind of daredevil. It couldn’t be further from the truth. Gage is a college journalism instructor writing a series of guest columns that require him to jump into new experiences — a fun bucket list, but one that does nothing to convince Ben he’s not an adrenaline junkie. … junkie.
Fresh off his latest heartbreak, nurse Ben Griggs is wary when one of his patients shows an interest in him — especially when that patient showed up in the ER after a motorcycle accident. Ben’s ex was a biker, a friend with benefits, and he dropped Ben cold when someone more interesting came along. Ben isn’t the kind of guy who can hold the interest of an adrenaline junkie like Gage Evans for long. The last thing he wants is to lose his heart to the wrong man again.
The more Ben gets to know Gage, the harder he is to resist. He can only hold on for the ride and keep his guard up as much as he can. But Ben’s lack of trust seriously gets in the way of building a relationship, and Gage will only be patient so long. Can he trust Gage enough to give his heart, or are they destined to have a fling that goes nowhere?
This is a spin-off from the Ashe Sentinel Connections series, where Ben appears briefly in the book “Hard Press.” It can be read as a standalone.

Heart Trouble is a sweet, fun romance. I needed a good pick-me-up a story and this was perfect.
Ben is a nurse that has trouble with men. He has a habit of choosing men that like adrenaline rushes and no strings. He wants a boyfriend. His friend Alex always tries to help hook him up by saving him, certain patients. One day he meets Gage thinking he is a motorcycle rider he turns down his advances. He meets Gage again at a bar where each was out with their friends and after a few drinks they go talk and wind up in bed.
I loved Gage’s persistence. This story is so well written, its sweet and hot but the heat is well done.
Kenneth Obi narrated this and man did he give it such life. I loved his narration and listening to the story.
I highly recommend this if you are looking for something romantic, like male nurses, Male professors, crazy best friends, and some hot man-sex.
Heart Trouble by DJ Jamison is the first book in The Hearts and Health series.
Gage and Ben are great characters and I love them. Their dance of romance is fun, sweet and a good dose of sexy. I felt drawn into the story and enjoyed every moment.
This book kept appearing on my suggestion list, so I finally caved and read it! I loved it and was so glad that it was part of a series!
I love this series. Each one has endearing characters that you can’t help but love. Ben so sweet and insecure. Gage so strong yet vulnerable. Their story and what they learn not only about each other but themselves as well was truly beautiful. Plus they were hot together. Can’t wait to see what comes next.
A great little book with plenty of sweetness and heat. Fantastic characters and enough angst to keep it interesting.
I enjoyed this little love story. Ben is a hot nurse that works at the ER the night that Gage comes in with a road rash injury. There is definitely attraction and flirtation, but when Gage makes a move, gun shy Ben sidesteps the issue. When Gage gets hurt again, Ben seriously steps again, think Gage is too much a risk. Fate would have them meet at a bar, sparks fly and caution is thrown to the wind. After a great night together, Gage thinks things are great, while Ben second guesses everything and pushes Gage away. Fate once again steps in when they meet at a skate park. After clearing up some misconceptions, Ben agrees to a serious of column dates. Things seem to be going well, except Ben is 2nd guessing out of fear of lossing Gage. A student of Gage’s flirt with Ben, who innocently flirts back, which cause a fight and a break up. Both being stubborn, one has to give in. Gage steps it up. Eventually after a upset with a health crisis with Ben’s Mom, everything comes together and all is right with their world.
I was lucky enough to win this audio, and I had already read the book about a year before. So it was lovely to hear it read to me. Love the story and the narration was just wonderful.
I would recommend anyone to listen to thus, as it was fun and light.
This is the sixth book in Ashe Sentinel series and the first one in Hearts and Health series. I have not read the Ashe Sentinel series but I did not miss anything, as the book can really be read as a standalone.
I liked both characters, especially Ben’s nursing side, and Gage’s insistence on him and Ben dating despite Ben’s hang-ups about it. Disappointed by his last friends-with-benefits partner who just took off, Ben is very cautious and especially against dating another daredevil whose heart he is sure he cannot keep.
Gage on the other hand has issues of a different kind. As a result of his childhood he latches on to people and worries about suffocating them with that. Meeting Ben in the ER, he unsuccessfully tries to flirt with him.
I liked both of them because I could connect, in part, with each of them. I also loved how nice a teacher Gage was, prepared to help his student (except that time when he was jealous after Zane flirted with Ben).
The sex scenes were hot and everything, but what made me love the book so much were the interactions between Ben and Gage…and the fact that Ben saved a cat It was cute and enjoyable book and I loved the epilogue.
