Just Another Viscount in Love is book four in The Season’s Original series by Vivienne Lorret. This is my first time to read Ms. Lorret’s work and I feel like I have discovered a lovely treasure. I am definitely going to go back and read the entire series beginning with The Debutante Is Mine. I found this story to be so emotionally moving that I laughed and cried my way through it – and that hasn’t happened since The Secret by Julia Garwood. What a wonderful surprise to find such an absolutely moving story! Lorret’s characters just come alive. I found that I fell in love with some of the extra characters like Aunt Edith and the gardener. Lorret spins a spellbinding web. I can’t wait to go back and read the first book in the series.
Unlucky in love, Samuel Wortham has become desperate to find a bride that hasn’t already given her heart to someone else. Having witnessed his parents’ marriage, Samuel wants what they had and until he sees the sprite in the pond on his estate, he had almost given up hope of ever achieving his dream. Gemma has a quality about her that makes Samuel chase after her and track her down to invite her to a house party with the sole purpose of selecting a bride. Unfortunately, the reputation garnered by her criminal father follows her wherever she goes, and when it becomes obvious that Samuel favours Gemma, there are those who would put a stop to his pursuit by devious means. This Regency romance is well-written with wit and charm and engaged my heart and feelings from the opening chapter. I experienced Gemma’s pain and the feelings of dread she had at encountering society once again, as well as the almost painful feelings of love that swelled in her heart. Samuel is a gentle, loving man and even when Gemma’s reputation is painted as black as sin, he refuses to hurt her. I enjoyed this tender romance and the end result.
It was a cute story, perfect to end a series.
Samuel Wortham is the one man left without a bride since he wooed one who was in love with another man, and his other attempt failed too. He is no one to hurry to decide who is the perfect viscountess for him, he needs time to get to know someone. Until he meets Gemma, she elicits something new in him, a need to see her again, an urge to be close to her. But what if, it is a mistake?
Gemma bears the shame of her name, the one of a man turned criminal. Because of this, she is rejected and see as soûler by the haute society, it even brings disgrace to her kin. So when she encounters Samuel, she for one moment hopes for a different future but her past has a way to catch up with her.
So how Sam will show her she is so much more than the surname she bears. And what of Sam’s reputation if Gemma accepts his offer?
There are some drama but the most important fact is how will they make the other believe in them and how will they trust their feelings.
Just Another Viscount In Love was a very compelling and sweet romance, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The writing was phenomenal, it just grabbed my attention and I could feel everything. It was very well done. The characters came alive and even though it was a fast paced book, everything was believable and beautiful. Gemma was a witty and likeable heroine, her background made everything interesting. I adored Samuel, he was a very magnetic hero. All the characters were amazing. All in all, a fabulous read. I will definitely be reading more Vivienne Lorret.
Loved it. I highly recommend! Thanks! Enjoy!
